McDonalds once used beef tallow. It’s pricier so they cheaped out when they switched to vegetable oil. Tallow fries are absolutely superior, assuming you’re not a vegan.

My favorite food. I prefer frying kennebec potatoes in corn oil. Topped off with lemon pepper, parmesan, and paprika 🤤

I like steak fries, waffle fries, curly fries, and McDonald's fries. I make my own now because it's cheaper to buy a 5 pound bag of potatoes than to eat fast food. I can also limit the ingredients. It's wonderful to do things on your own.

If done correctly, French Fries from an air fryer can approximate deep-fried. The key is tossing the potatoes with cooking oil in a sealed container for a minute or two. I make copycat Five Guys fries in the air fryer that are virtually indistinguishable from the restaurant version.

I personally favour two commercial brands: Nathan’s Jumbo Crinkle Cut Fries, and Grown In Idaho Natural Cut. Use Peanut or Avocado Oil, or Duck Fat. I strongly recommend that you avoid most, but not all commercial chains as while their fries may be decent / good, the oil they use contains dimethylpolysiloxane, an anti-foaming agent.

My restaurant still fries using beef tallow. We sell more fries than people using oil.

My grandmother made hamburgers and fries every Saturday night for us kids. I learned from her and still prefer good homemade fries any day.

Or beef tallow. Although carnivore myself occasionally I make fries from yard grown plantains cut with a fry cutter.
