I think what you're doing is good. I am 44 and was raised by WW2 Gen parents who were older. The expectations I got from my parents were wildly out of pace with what modern women are like. It definitely was like slathering me up and sending me into a bear den while ringing a dinner bell. My ex-wife was brutal. I ended up utilizing my education on Machiavelli on my now ex-wife just to survive and had to do some pretty underhanded maneuvering just to keep from surviving my divorce. It messed me up, and I haven't even been on a date since, and it's been almost 6 years. Coming to grips with how depraved women can actually be, I think, has prepared me better for going back into the dating world with my eyes open. She bit me 7 times, drawing blood. The police came (female officer if that matters), and took me away. At the police station, they documented my injuries. It was clear to the officer, she'd arrested the wrong person. Problem is, she couldn't admit it because that would trigger a wrongful arrest complaint. I had to give them $500 and they let me go home. She promised, my ex said she was not going to be there, she was staying with friends... But... When I got home, her and her friend were partying. The first thing she did when I walked through the door was punch me in the face, then said, "What are you going to do? I'll just tell the police you attacked me again and they'll arrest you!" I went into the spare room and locked the door. 3 days later, she was at an all day seminar, I moved out while she was gone. That's the only time in my life I've been arrested for anything. Turns out, she had a record. I looked her up a few years ago, she's been arrested multiple times for prostitution, guess you can't believe the best of some people.

Realistically, 99.8% of modern, western, women are not suitable commitment material. Statistically, it is a huge waste of time looking for one. Men are far better off going their own way, enjoying the fruits of their effort and labor, and the peace that comes with it.

People need to remember females have a much higher social requirement for survival than men do. Men spent most of our evolutionary history becoming self sufficient through hunting and foraging. If the majority of western females are developing narcissistic traits it's because the social culture they're in is encouraging it. Not to say women don't have autonomy, but the way they're influenced for their survival is much more real for them than men. You can't have a society without trust, but in the short term people don't care. All anyone can do is be extremely cautious in who they allow into their life.
