Just scored one! I had the black (red letter) version for years; a gift from my daughter who got it from the lost and found bin when she used to work at Kmart and they emptied it out after two years...Great watch! Thanks for the heads up nutnfancy, I love my new early fathers day gift to me...lol

Had this one (or one very similar) back in high school! Was a gift and got me into G-Shocks. Now I’ve had like 30 of them it’s a problem lol.

Welcome to the club if there is one (Casio). I have been wearing Casio watches for 40 plus years. You definitely get the bang for your buck. To me they are fashionable and look really great. On the higher end of the watches they're a little pricey. I am budget-minded everything is pricey LOL, but they're not as high as a Rolex. LOL. I like the commentary on the watches. ⌚🐢⌚🐢⌚🐢⌚

Watch and gun collector here. The only non high end watch I would wear would be a G-Shock. If you can afford it, get a Rolex Sub. Timeless.

Get a lot of inquiries at my job about my g shock watches especially when they are color coordinated with what you are wearing that day. I agree the more things change a lot of people like to stick with what's familiar and what they are comfortable with.

I've got a GWM-500A that I bought at Costco in December of 2005 for around $40-,still running on the original battery. The case is looking worn out, but it's keeping accurate time.👍

Right on with WRV's, Nutn. I find the same thing with the G-Shock's. That said, I recently picked up a Hawker Harrier II after watching your vid and am really digging that watch a lot. Simple, but classic.

I had one of the in black a while back. Battery lasted 7 years, I shit you not. G-Shocks are my favorite EDC watches. They are indestructible, my former day jobs included construction work as an electrician and a stint in the Cav. G-Shocks performed flawlessly under constant abuse. Love them and can not recommend them enough. Them looking sharp is a nice bonus.

No it's not discontinued it's about eight or nine colors of that watch they have one with a leather and nylon band which is great that's one of the best G-Shocks you can get for the money

I have 25+ watches in my collection-- Seikos, Swiss Army, Timex, & Citizen, just to name a few. But, the ones I wear and enjoy the most are my *four G-shocks!* Matter of fact, I just acquired a DW-9052V (with the textile strap) which is epically cool, imho. But, what I love even more is it was marked down to $15.00 usd @ Wallyworld-- so, I bought one for a friend... 🖒😎

Just bought this and love the colours and that it's so easy to use. Buttons are great and as is the strap how it joins to the case. Debating whether this is as user friendly as the 5610

How about some Timex love? 5 years ago it was a "favorite watch". I have tons of Casios, and love them. Especially the solar versions. And yes, I still wear my classic 5600 G Shocks. But my most used digital watch is a simple Timex Ironman Essential Triathlon 10 lap. Easier to read than Casio, better UI, stainless buckle, not too big or too small. "Only" 100 meters, but Timex does make some 200 meter Rugged models.

Nutn... I'm building an AR10- 308 with an adjustable gas block that can be shut off.... Basically turning it into a straight pull bolt action when the gas block is closed.... If I send it to you, would you test in field? compare velocity/ accuracy in semi auto vs "bolt".

G shock tells time, just like my Omega tells time, but when I destroy my G Shock, I don't need to mortgage the house again, to replace it. I see that Arex has an Alpha pistol that is NOT a Sig knockoff. I'd also like a take on the Grand Power Q 100 striker fired rotary lockup Slovakian pistol. The other Alpha, is the Sphinx, which is a steel pistol with machining that is beyond very impressive.

A girl gave me a g shock maybe in 1995. I didnt wear it for years, took it out of drawer, time was still perfect. I wore that thing everyday for over 10 years, battery never went out, band only broke towards then end, watch still works PERFECT but it started breaking into pieces lol and I put that thing through hell. They are great watches. I should buy a new one I really miss it.

G Shock is just functional. It’s a utilitarian watch IMO. Prefer it over smart watches that don’t last 24 hours on a charge.

I'm a fan of your videos, but I notice that you give the wrong information regarding taking the strap off. The screws on either side of the case have no role in holding on the strap. They hold on the "stabilisers". The pin for holding on the strap is a standard springbar that can be removed by anything from a standard strap tool to a thin pocket knife.

Question ..how does having so many different watches (options) affect 'systems' mindset in TNP. Seems like it would be tough dressing out. I bought a Casio and then a couple Smaels and my 25+ year Citizen Promaster wound up in a drawer. Now I could easily purchase one of these but i feel like it would be another disposable watch. Granted G-Shock is not a Smael.

It's more for fun than anything. Depending on the job you may have to have certain functions (timers, stopwatches, etc) that HAVE to work for you, so legibility, ease/speed of use, etc. all become pretty important factors. In the end the watch stuff is mostly fun, it's one of the few things we enthusiasts can enjoy anywhere and any time. We can't necessarily enjoy a knew folding knife or carry pistol everywhere we go and while we're at work, but a watch is totally fine. -Doodle

I just bought this watch in black with beige filling in the G Shock and G. I love it, but I’m gonna like it even more in a couple of days when the military canvas straps I bought for it come in. The band isn’t bad but I’m not a fan of these types of bands.

It's on the list, not super urgent unless a funky color comes out for them. We kinda assume anyone who digs watches already has one in black or red. It's almost perfectly quintessential. -Doodle

@@nutnfancy It`s also a watch for "not watch people". When in the military i had a more expensive watch that glew a bit in the dark by itself if one looked close enough and from the right angle. It was a nice watch and very classic (i don`t remember the brand). One day the watchband fell off and i never saw it again. Since then i use this gshock, it still looks good and never let me down. Even the battery goes for a long time. The only downside is that it`s not an automatic but it is what it is.

I think any bright colored, chunky for no reason with meaningless readouts / displays catches the eye. They look a bit off on adults to me but to each their own. In any uniform watches are tools and not fashion accessories, I find this same practice applicable in day to day life.

Sorry dude. That face is unreadable for these old eyes. I'll stick with my prw3000 ABC Casio. Big numbers and much more functionality including solar and radio controlled. Mines blue too. Put a black/grey zulu on it and it works like a charm. Had to do cutouts on the strap to get it to work but it's da bomb. It's my go to fishing watch.

Have only had G Shock watches since they first came out with them. They last forever. I buy a new one every five years. Only thing is I don't like the strap. I usually use a velcro strap or paracord strap on them.

G shocks are over rated. If you work arou d allot of radar equipmemt it freezes them. I do like most of your watch reviews, just can't get on board with the G Shock.
