There is always another side to the story...than the cliche that men make 'promises' they don't keep. Life is not straightforward. Some marriages really are expired and some side relationships have mutual power relations. The idea of marriage itself is socially constructed, there are many meanings to it. Many things happen in marriage, and just because people married each other doesn't mean their is love. Additionally, in the African context, love is the lest reason to marry. So this is complex issue, with so many dimensions to it not just limited to the two scenarios the lady is describing. Who even introduced monogamy- we don't even know much about it, all we do is just follow it blindly.
