Why yes, absolutely great advice. I live in Nor California, and you do not get into the water, w/out a wet suit on. But on most beaches the waves and undertow will quickly drag you into 55 degree water (sometimes colder). We get people swept off of jetties, that regularly die here, as well. Y'all have great water there, I must say. But...we do have our steelhead and salmon runs though. Have never shore fished at the ocean. Must try it. Have to find a calmer bay though. That Pacific is one crazy and dangerous thing sometimes.

My guy just jealous the other dude out fished him lol 😂 if I was running out of line bet your azz I would have done the same thing . I once hooked a beast that took all my line I couldn’t stop it even used my thumb to slow down the reel . I think it was a shark because it didn’t stop once I set the hook it swam back to hell .

Maybe your knot broke, or the fished turned or your line was nicked by another fish between you and the one you had on. Might be the weak spot in your line where the guide on the end of your rod weakened it when you're not fishing? The last one most people never think of or realize. But you can see it when you unhook the line to start fishing,there is always a kink where the end of your rod is in your line. I learned about it watching a test about the differences in fishing line ,and things that can cause weak spots...

Your advice about not walking after your fish is wrong, IMO. Where I fish if you don’t follow your fish down the beach, you will hear about it from the other fisherman and not in a friendly way. Most people when they see you hooked up and the fish heading their way will reel in and get out of your way, but allowing a big ray or shark to pull 200+ yds of line down the beach is not the way to do it. The quicker you get straight up and down on the fish, the better. But you are correct about not getting into the water with them. Nothing good comes from that.nice video, I need to get down to Florida more often.

@ytho952 жыл бұрын
Nah man, you're right on with not getting in the water, but sometimes you have to walk down the beach. I live in the Savannah GA area, we get huge sharks in the surf. I'm talking 7ft+ 350lbs+ range fish. If you're using a 6000-8000 size reel and hook into those, it'll spoil you in no time. I've had many shark be maybe 50 yards on the beach he beach, but run 300 yards out on me parallel to the beach in no time. Sometimes you've got to give chance down the beach
