What if you were to eat according to Dietary Guidelines and follow all the "healthy" advice. Would you get healthy? Would that be a well balanced diet. They say to eat whole grain, dairy, vegetables, low fat and high carb. But what if that is wrong and they are actually making us fat and sick?

I'm just curious how you know what human beings were supposedly eating before that 12,000 year period that you mentioned. Because you also mention that sliver is all that we have for written human history? That can't be based off of any science because science itself stipulates that in order for the scientific method to be used something must be able to be observed, tested and retested. So So if we have no written history about it then who observed, tested, and retested what human beings ate before that time? Is this all simply conjecture and the use of one's imagination? Can you please list the sources? These are not sarcastic questions either I genuinely wish to know. Thank you.

Just over 1 year ago I was diagnosed with NAFLD so I did a search on YT "How to reverse Fatty Liver" I found your channel. I wanted to comment under the actual video that helped me but I can't find it now. I had been a T2D with high cholesterol and High Blood Pressure for around 12 years. I used to take Metformin, Simvastatin and Ramiprill. I also had to have an annual blood test cos of this. When I went for my results this year and the nurse said I should sit down. I feared the worst. She was so happy to give me good news. My results were that of a healthy 55 year old man (which I am) and she told me to quit the meds and come back in 3 months for a check up. I have my life back thx to your videos, ty so much.

Its been almost 3 months now. I dont eat sugar, no processed meet, no GMO. I eat only between 12pm and 5pm every single day since I started. I eat healthy. I try and avoid grains but on a few exceptional days have eaten low carb bread and popcorn with only salt (but those were exceptions). My staple is good meat and vegies. I also added exersize. No weight loss that I can reasonably witness on my clothes or my face (I don't have a scale). Hungry almost every day, especially between 9am and 12pm. In the past I was one of those people that ate breakfast every day and regular meals, so this was a big adjustment for me. I still continue because I did not do this primarily for weight loss, but I was hoping it would be a side benefit. Watched many of your videos and am still very grateful for the info. I did a blood test some time ago and was tested for mild insulin resistance HOMA 2.26 although my blood sugar levels were fine. My BMI is 30.3. Age 52, female. I have no chronic conditions and am generally healthy. Struggled with fatigue for the first two months, but that is ok now. Any suggestions?

Part of the problem is also convenience. Tearing open a bag of chips is instantaneous, but to make your own involves prep and clean up. I grow fruits and veggies and process them with dehydration, fermentation, freezing, and canning. This is time consuming. I’m assured that most of my food is organic. Fast food supports a frantic life style, and that has much to do with stress level. Convenience may destroy quality of life.

Thank you for the information Dr Ekberg. In my opinion for the wast majority of people, it is very hard to move away from the mainstream unhealthy way of eating. Everywhere you look you have advertisement for so-called quick, fast, and convenient “food”. That’s why education is so important! Your videos help to open up peoples eye and start think for themselves! But that takes some effort.

In 1977 the governments around the world didn't want people to notice all the inflation so came out with all these cheap grains like corn and told people to eat that rather than meat and eggs for breakfast because it was dirt cheap. This way people didn't notice the skyrocketing cost of food as much.

When I was growing up my mother served a lot of processed foods and sugar. At the dinner table, there were stacks of white bread, margarine and whole milk and we were encouraged to eat as much as we wanted. She would actually force us to sit at the table to finish what was in our plates after dinner. She died at 40 of a clogged descending aorta. I grew up with weight problems that have just gotten worse as I got older to the point now where I am a type II diabetic with about 50-60 pounds extra weight on me and it's almost impossible to lose now. I have been following you and Dr. Mindy Pelz and have been doing intermittent fasting. I now read labels and will not eat anything with transfat, inflammatory oils, fake sugar, corn sugar, or a high sugar content, etc. I am trying to be more consistent but still eat some processed foods. In order to lose weight, I really have to go low carb and exercise. The only other way I can lose weight is going on a low fat high carb diet like Jenny Craig. Weirdly, after a week on Jenny Craig, my blood sugars are completely normal even if I have a Jenny Craig Cinnamon Bun. That food comes in plastic containers which I've heard are obesegenic.

It's not impossible. Keep trying! But like you said, you have to cut the carbs and sugar, and manage your protein/fat macros/quality. Walking is part of the journey, so do it before you can't walk effectively.

What I found over my lifetime is how food has actually changed since the industrial revolution. Just thinking about how they changed sewer sludge to be categorized as a vitamin B in many products especially sports drinks. I also enjoy a good sweet watermelon and remembered as a kid, we had seeds, we used to see how far we could spit them. Now, there is no seeds in the watermelon. GMO is something that has been around since industrial revolution. Just depends on what period, these become foods on steroids GMO.

@drekberg The reply I often hear from people who contradict the benefits of eating the way ancestors did is, “Our ancestors had half the average lifespan of people nowadays.” It would be helpful if you included information and stats RE the main causes of death in our ancestors (infections for which there were not yet treatments, exposure to the elements, etc.) VS. the self-inflicted, predominantly metabolic causes of so much illness and death these days.
@jackiedelvalle

Plus a lack of safety laws for work like mining, building etc. Fires in homes, death in childbirth, all sorts of non-food related things. Now we're living longer bc we've largely addressed those things, but we're living long lives full of pain, ill health and medication. That's not progress!
@peterpan408
@peterpan408 23 күн бұрын
When life is hazardous, the less hazardous elements of life are less important. For example it doesn't matter if a soldier smokes, drinks, and other things since fighting is more hazardous. However eliminating accidental and overwork related death has exposed our terminal illnesses. If no one lived past 60yo we wouldn't know about diabetes, cancer, dementia, heart failure etc. The only thing I worry about is if majority of people switch to whole low carb-high protein diets; The price of quality protein and fat (beef and dairy for example) would increase alot such that only the rich could afford to eat right. 100% dairy free Carnivore is already too expensive for most people. However animal-based (including dairy, eggs, fish etc) is more reasonably priced. TBF eliminating ultra-processed foods saves a lot; the price per gram protein or fat on ultra-processed foods is quite bad. And unfortunately ultra-processed food is nothing more than seed oils mixed with fillers (carb sludge). You can get different flavors and hardness of sludge, but it's still sludge.😮
