you asked how i locked the flywheel when i was commenting on doing the fiesta ecoboost with no timming locking tools. what you did with the screwdriver in this vid is basically what i did. good tip on the water pump teeth, thats something id never have thought to look for as an amateur. you just take it for granted that parts like that would be correct, but just show you eh. another good tip learned. cheers

nice job again baz!!! i use to work for fords and probably 1 in 50 parts we would have the wrong part in the wrong box..sometimes a handed part wrong or sometimes a belt with the wrong number on it-it happens and like you said you checked and found out

Yes mate, ‘crisis averted’ is perfect use of the language. One minor correction if I may (as a naturalised German): it’s ‘sheff-ler’ for the pronunciation of the timing belt manufacturer. No offence meant. All the best from sunny Austria and keep the videos coming.

@@markanix Great so it doesn't go away haha. Did one recently in front of a young lad we hired and he watched/helped and did it without locking tools as it hadn't showed up in time for the job so got the tipex out. Well of course the camshaft spun round when putting the belt on ahah. Managed to line it back up and all good but typical when someones watching. Just made sure to tell him not to do what I did always use the tool haha

What I do with these metal profile gaskets is torque them up, wait 5-10min and retorque. Usually you can get about 1/8 more turn with same torque setting when gasket has settled.

It's the bearings which are essential and Gates sources the bearings from the worst places possible. Belts itself are excellent quality, as they are a rubber manufacturer.

My mini 1.6d dv6 was a little different, had a problem where even though it was timed up, the camshaft pin was tight but by about a millimetre. wasn’t a tooth out so couldn’t work out why only 1 pin was tight. Also the fuel pump was different, it had a hole rather than a tolerance notch

just rewatched the part about the waterpump teeth/belt not right and you then fit a gates belt. how did changing the belt fix the problem, cause in my head for the gates belt to fit the pump teeth the teeth/ridges on the belt would have to be thicker/bigger to match the teeth on the pump. if this is the case does that not then make the teeth/ridges of the belt too big for the other pulleys???? confused
@bazmeredithАй бұрын
There's no confusion to it, the ina pump was wrong but the belt was right it's a full kit as seen as I unbox it. The full kit then got replaced with a gates kit

So if the diesel pump needs timing, what exactly is it timed to? The pump pulley is rotating at two thirds crank shaft rpm, no relationship to anything ! 44 tooth cam, 33 diesel pump and 22 on the crank.
@kisher4029Ай бұрын
Pump is timed so as to harmonize the balance between the pump and camshaft, thus increasing the timing belt life, this is what i was told when i worked for peugeot.
@nigelmitchell351Ай бұрын
@@kisher4029 Looks like it's more to do with vibration given the ratio of the belt pulleys.
@DavidElleker14 сағат бұрын
i would just say that some crank pulley bolts need a lot nm then some i would be worried about all that strain on 1 small tooth better to use a mighty strong pully holder but each to their own
