Hello everyone and welcome back to Clearwater County! Now that the UPS has been constructed in Belmont, developers are lining up for the opportunity to build commercial and residential properties in the nearby vicinity. Rather than simply responding to development pressure, Belmont is proactive and hires a planning firm to ensure that future development lines up with the community’s expectations.
This planning process comings up with a cohesive vision of what the community should become and in today’s episode, we’re going to implement the first part of that vision. Enjoy!

The corner of the warehouse is the main entrance to the warehouse and it should be on the corner where the parking lot for the cars are parked or you could add another corner piece so they can have the UPS sign on both sides

Hey CPP, there is a mod that allows you to place parks in park areas as if they were parklife assets. Overcharged Egg uses it in Thessia, so you can find it in his mod list, I don't remember what it's called though, I think maybe Parkify. I've used it before and it was so nice putting Basketball and Tennis courts in my park areas. I imagine it would have spared you some frustration when placing that pond park 😂. Great video as always!

The apartment complex makes me a little nostalgic for the apartment I lived in senior year of college-it was literally right next to the railroad tracks with just a privacy fence between us, and the whole apartment would shake whenever the train went by! I also really like the idea of the parallel pedestrian facilities with the boardwalk-I think Belmont has a really incredible opportunity to be a leader within Clearwater County vis-a-vis its greenway network!
@Sephin
@Sephin 11 ай бұрын
I think you should extend the pedestrian paths to both sides of the river and take them all the way down the river, or at least to the grocery store. Maybe make a connection to the other pedestrian crossing to the school as well. Not only would this create a big green area for people to enjoy, but would also create a walk-able path to the school, the park, and the grocery store from anywhere in the area. If you can make it so that people can bike on it, or add a bicycle path next to it, even better! Could even do stuff like pull the path a bit away from the river and add picnic areas or gazebos or playgrounds. Maybe do a small pedestrian road off of it and add some small commercial: bakeries, cafés, corner stores, stuff like that. Once the other side of the river and the areas down river next to the grocery store are developed I could see this becoming a big amenity for the neighborhood.

Definitely continue the path down to the park! It would be interesting to see the population growth of Belmont pre and post new addition. I could definitely see there being a culture split between the slower-older part up town and the newer, upbeat commercial center part of town, especially since it’s pretty split by the creek and not really incorporated directly into any existing parts of town. Also, Beginning of video: “I love Suburban roads.” By the Middle of video: “Maybe we should cut back on using the suburban roads.” 😂

What I love about your series, and what I believe makes your builds distinguished from others on KZfaq, is the organic way in which your imagined universe evolves. Its like watching the history of a real place unfold overtime. It is driven by narrative yet structured with logical progression, creating places that not only feel realistic, but are saturated with lore. You sir are not just a great city planner, you are also a great story teller.

The fact that this is the “realistic” play through is so depressing. Siting multi family on a four lane arterial stroad, prioritizing single family housing, building tons of parking with no plan to actually make a community walkable except through insane bridges that also meet up with the arterials… it just feels bad.

Ooof, I feel sorry for the people in that one apartment building nearest the junction switch - that seems pretty darn close to an active rail line! (@17:16, the top right apartment building) Maybe swap the locations of that part of the complex with the rental office and flow the parking lot around up and right of the relocated apartments? The space looks like it could accommodate the same distancing applied to the frontage along the road that's being used for a sound buffer, while still allowing it to serve a purpose through parking, and the area behind the moved rental office could be gardened up slightly. (Perhaps a good spot for some bicycle racks?) It'd also introduce a buffer in case the unthinkable hap[pens and a trail derailment happens in the area - any errant train cars would plow through replaceable automobiles rather than smashing into the ground level apartments.

Hey CPP, absolutely loving the Clearwater County Series! I’ve shamelessly binged all of them over the last couple of weeks, and have enjoyed every moment! I had a small request… my foster father was a huge fan of Cities Skylines, and even got me in to the game. We spent a lot of time working on cities together, and it was always a good time. Sadly, I lost him just over 2 years ago, and it was quite a hit to me, it was even difficult to play the game for a while. I was wondering if perhaps you could name something, anything really, even just a street after him. His name was Justin, but everyone called him Corky Jr (his father was Corky Sr). It would be an honor to have him memorialized in one of his favorite games by one of my favorite players of the game. Keep up the fantastic work, and I look forward to seeing what Clearwater County develops next!

about the boardwalk that crosses the river. I would add another part to it, so that people, who walk for leisure, don't have to turn around and somewhere in the middle and walk the same way back, but they have some variation. And perhaps they don't want to walk to the trainstation and back. Having it attached to the park would be great, cause they're able to go back home through the park. So, across the river, turn left, (above or underneath the road) through the park and then back to their home. It would be a great walk.

Perhaps the other side of the river is a zone for water-view commercial? Restaurants w/ outdoor seating, maybe an amphitheater. Some communities chose older revivalist building styles, so maybe an arcade style market, a la Fanneuil Hall or Pike Place. And a boardwalk connecting them to a riverside residential stretch, with little fancy pedestrian bridges.

You aren't the only one who makes things more complicated than they need to be! Welcome to the club, there are a lot of us. ALSO, can you PLEASE explain to the provincial government of Ontario that impact fees are important!? They've revoked all such fees for municipalities because they think it'll "get more housing built", but it's actually just leaving our cities bankrupt, and developers with A LOT more dough in their pockets. :( Also, also, moar boardwalk! Keep it flowing as far as the river goes and create a day-long biking/hiking path into the hinterlands - it's one of the upsides to living on the outskirts closer to nature. Also, also, also, can I live in Clearwater County?

I think you should either extend the commercial corridor to the other side of the highway that's now a four-lane urban road or make it an apartment complex or a park. Since it's being developed into somewhat valuable land I feel like the city of Belmont would want to do something with it. Also, you could have the Kroger be a strip mall of various strip mall stores like local chain restaurants, T-Mobiles, haircut places, etc.

I gotta say I absolutely love this series, been an incredible watch along with Nicolette Bay. But, man oh man was the intro part a tough watch when you were building the center of Belmont Commons. Especially at the ten minute mark when you looked at it and said it was lookin good. With that, I could just feel Charles L. Marohn Jr rolling over in his grave. Having the city center be 50%+ parking lots is bad enough, but I think the problem would go deeper than that. With the layout that you have, with the stores on Main but the parking lots 'behind', you would see something happen. The stores would absolutely demand to 'front' their stores not onto Main, but into the parking lots. They would say that is where their customers are coming from, and that is where they need to put their best foot forward; the nice entrance goes into the lots. Why would people want to buy all their stuff and then have to walk all they way around a building or two to get to their cars? I would say that if City Admin. Daily and his council weren't strong enough to push back on the absolutely gargantuan amount of parking demanded, they certainly wouldn't be strong enough to force the businesses moving in to double-front their stores. If one of the stores gets allowed to front to the lots, they all would do it. And with no need to ever be on Main to actually visit the central shopping core (which would no longer exist- it is split into two back-to-back strip malls), I would absolutely expect then that Main would become the fanciest, cobble paved loading/freight alley in the county, which would then make it the most repaired road in the county, as heavy trucks and cobbles seldom go well together. MAYBE City Admin Daily is shrewd and the city owned the parking lots with the explicitly caveat that they will take them away and sell/develop them in the future as mentioned and the existing stores would have to deal with it, but I dunno. Deals are just as changeable as administrations. The all-parking-lot downtown will cement this part of Belmont as "Reigning Exurb of the County". Also, big thumbs up on the 'dark mode' pipes/electricity UI. So much better.

Is there still a charge to go into the park? Also, personally, I think the before and after for the city tours, while very impressive with the editing to the music, sometimes doesn;t give you a feel of what it is like to be in that space. Before and after is really good when you change an existing development, but for something brand new, I think just letting the camera stay at different points for a few seconds really lets us experience the new build. Anyway, thanks for all the great vids!

I think a mix of both would be the best! I like the comparisons, but it would also be cool to have some shots to give a feel of the space.

The new Belmont has no social services. No fire, no police, no mail, no banks. Might be worth looking at again. It's a far way from the rest of the town. Great video!

I just watched 80+ episodes in about 3 weeks so I’m pretty obsessed. I guess I’ll start Nicollet bay now lol

I live in a town called belmont in california, it would be nice to see some additions based on a real life belmont. Some suggestions: Notre Dame de Namur University, Notre Dame de Namur girls catholic school, Ralston Ave, Alameda de las Pulgas. Water Dog Lake is kind of a local secret bike path/hiking area around a tiny historic reservoir. Anyways, I always look forward to any of you videos, but Clearwater County is one of my favorites. Keep up the great work!

I think the park needs more trees, the paths split it into sections , so some can be grassy for sports and picnics, but I think some sections would look better forested like around the pond

Awesome build once again! Still need to flip those UPS trailers around though. They aren’t facing the right way.

Friendly Parks and Recreation employee here! I can’t help but wonder - are the businesses allowing residents to park in their lots to visit the park as well? A park of that size in a suburban area is going to attract people from all over town, and many of them will have to drive. I also suspect that birthday parties and events are probably happening there on the weekends! Perhaps the City has shared use agreements for those lots, or perhaps more parking may be necessary to accommodate. I hate that it’s true but parking is always a challenge with suburban parks!

Nice park. I can imagine sitting there with the kids watching fireworks being set off across the river on 4th of July. Need some foodtrucks in there too.

Not sure if you've seen this yet, but District Styles Plus works like a charm as a replacement for Building Themes

Hi Phil, I'm a big fan of all of your builds but Clearwater County is my favorite. I used to work in fulfillment and distribution warehouses and now I teach supply chain management at a university so I've really enjoyed dropping the UPS sort center into Belmont. I do have one question though. One of the major issues surrounding the increased number of warehouses around the country is the increased heavy truck traffic around residential neighborhoods. At the end of the video (around the 43-minute mark) there are several large trucks driving right in front of the homes across the street from UPS. I would imagine people would be worried about the noise and potential safety issues associated with that many large trucks driving so close to their yards and driveways. Do you think the city would consider pushing those homes back onto a small frontage road or extended eyebrow? It seems like something like that could help out with safety. Thanks again for all of the hours of entertainment!

It might be a little nitpicky but I think it would make sense to add some accessible parking by the pharmacy entrance at the Kroger.

Try to run the boardwalk as far as reasonably possible! My city South Bend and Mishawaka area did it along the St. Joe river and it’s and awesome attraction that goes for miles and people use it daily.

I think maybe add some commercial stands along the boardwalk in the future and maybe add a carnival eventually

I would recommend some landscaping by the loop you put in on the other side of the rail. It looks kind of barren right now

As a former graffiti artist, that boardwalk section underneath the rail bridge with the hard rock wall/slope is an artists DREAM. If you dont do something about that you might get alot of aspiring painters in Belmont 😂 . Or maybe a mural texture for a legal way for these artists to work ? 😅 either way it’s beautiful
