You make a lot of good points. I gotta say although it seems like large clans will have clear advantages I am really excited for caravans. Even the solo attempts to sneak my caravan through wild territories sounds amazing and has great potential for my play style.

I wasn't aware of the limited crafting stations, with only 2 grandmaster stations per metropolis. I love adding even more necessity to the system

Exactly. The need to move materials TO the place they can be used will necessitate the usage of caravans. Thanks for watching.

@@Roarrior originally I was thinking any metropolis would do... but imagining, as you suggest, having to transport it across the world is going to be so incredibly stressful / rewarding.

@@Twitch177 I'm glad you see the appeal! Imagine the heart pumping adrenaline knowing that if you get the materials where they need to go you'll be able to craft a massive upgrade. But also the threat and possibility of losing it at any moment. Most games nowadays don't give us feels like Ashes will. At least I hope it'll play out this way haha

Good points. Caravans will be well protected. Attacking them will not be for direct gain but node and guild war targets. The benefit to the attacker will be hurting the enemy economically. Guild will offer free repairs as they will stockpile repair materials and craftsmen will need to level their skills as well. Many will take a profession that repairs their type of armor.

Nice presentation. I have seen all of the details/points elsewhere, save for the "Anyone" can loot, and I did have that very question when the stream originally aired.

After watching that showcase I decided that I won't use caravans. unless its a very safe area for the size of the escort needed you can just have 10 people on mounts make two trips in the same time and when you get attacked at least some of the group will get threw, also I think there are to many currency's each node has it own Node currency, then you have glint, and thin you have gold

I Love Caravans. Remember: Every Caravan is FREE LOOT! No player in their right mind will EVER move goods by Caravan.

That will be the only way to move goods if you want to sell them in another node. You can't move crates in your backpack and trying to sell uncrated goods will get a massive tariff the further you are from the node you got the materials in. So if you walk a node over you might need to pay 5% tax, but move to a different biome and maybe even half your profits will go down the drain. It's to simulate the inefficiency of moving small amounts of goods in logistics. Just like you would not just carry your mined coal from the mine you got it in straight to the powerplant in real life, and instead you'd have a 3rd party do it in giant trucks.

In fact I expect smaller guilds to make their profit by caravan PVP almost exclusively, either by defending or attacking them.

I just hope the flop of Ashes of Creation finally ends the endless cycle of pvp mmorpg development. the only people that are going to play AoC are rabid pvp'ers.

I don't believe this is true. I think it will provide a balanced enough experience for pve and pvp players. At this point it's up to the testers to provide enough meaningful feedback for the game to launch is a fun state. And I know a lot of PvErs that will be present during the Alpha 2 testing phase. Let's have faith!
