One hack I’ve noticed in the last few games is that there are some non league Spanish teams that get tonnes of five star players. Can’t remember all of them off the top of my head but Damm, San Felix, San Francisco and Sobradillo are four. There are more. I have them written on a note on my laptop. I noticed that a lot of the really good Spain players in my game started out with these clubs and then moved to a big Spanish club really young for less than 5k. So I started scouting all their youth intakes when they come in usually between the 1st and 15th April and started getting loads of really good players almost every year. So I booted up the editor to see what the hell was going on and all those teams have maxed out stats for youth intake 🤯 I found this out about three games back and I’m not kidding when I say almost every team I’ve played with and won titles and champions leagues with has had maybe at least five world class players in it from these teams. And they all costs about 3k each. The Swansea team I’m playing with now is in year 10. I just won the league and champions league and I have four of these players in my starting eleven and maybe another five or six on the bench and in my under 21’s. Also I don’t have Brexit on so that helps 😂 you can sign them all at 16 with no work permits. Give it a shot 👍

what i usually do is that i ravage the spanish u19 leagues. theres a lot of u19 only clubs in there and any player over 17 at those clubs is on an amateur contract and under 17 on a youth contract. its been 3 fms so far in which ive gotten truckloads of quality regens from sides like damm, san felix or maritima.

I had a striker somewhat like this come through Italy in last year's football manager come through at Virtus Entella in Serie C. I actually found him playing at DC United when I signed him for Swansea, but he had a career progression of leaving to DC on a free to join Swansea City for $6.5 million to sell to Manchester City for $95 million. Definitely one of the more unique career progressions I have seen in Football Manager yet.

This is something I discovered in FM22 with my OGC Nice network save - the Belgian third tier also works for France/Spain/Germany if you need some free high potential youngsters for your second teams! Almost always adds to the loan farm for basically no money, and at least pays for the big wages 5 years into a save :)

I signed a player like this on FM21 for Cork City by looking at the Belgian youth national teams. Also the Czech youth national team has talent but they have 50k compensation rather than being for free

This explains my man Miro Birobnk who my DOF recommended in FM21. He was amateur in Croatia's 3rd tier and came into my Honved side as my best player (star wise) and I went on to sell to Porto. I never did follow it up and thought it just a quirk but it makes sense

There are two u19 only clubs in Porthgal that are the remnant youth academies of defunct clubs, the team itself is grayed out but generates atleast 3 talents a year

I would love to see this kind of database exploration or techniques explored for Asian Leagues because all of these test videos and ideas definitely apply to European Leagues but I'm trying to Build a Nation using the Australian Leagues(one rule which is really good is that transfers cannot actually be made with money between A League Sides, you actually have to loan to gain players from other clubs in the league.

I actually found this worked to some degree playing an Australian save and signing youth players from New Zealand, Korea and Japan.

brasilean and argentinan league are also very good with youth players for the future for low praise and sometimes even free another I think it could be pretty similar to belgium is croatia and serbia

Late to respond but I don't think this is necessarily a new thing. Back in the early 2000s I recall amataur French sides producing regular batches of high PA players and then for 2-3 games it was true of the German clubs and then late 2000s amataur Spanish sides got on the act etc. So the question is why? This is my theory: The game tries to maintain the current levels of ability for all nations based upon the relative strength of the national sides as per now. ie, the French was dominating in the late 90s to early 2000s so the game was trying to spawn in players to longer term replace the likes of Desailly, Thuram, Blanc, Deschamps, Zidane etc. I have memories that in games like CM 3, CM 01/02, the French national team was elite and competitive a decade later when other traditionally top sides had their ups and downs. Around that time the French was having a bit of a golden generation. This effect was true with the German side of around 02-03 etc in terms of producing long term replacements to the likes of Kahn, Ballack, Klose etc. Germany were World Cup runner up in 2002, finished 3rd in the FIFA Confederations cup 2005 and 3rd place World Cup 2006. There was a feeling at the time that Germany could be the major force and had a potential mini-golden generation (which never materialised) Ditto for Spain and the fact Spain was a consistant dominant force in the FM games from late 2006 etc. Long term the small Spanish amataur sides were producing gems to long term replace Pep's Barcelona side (minus Messi). So why is Belgium seemingly a goldmine for producing talent? Belgium have had a wasted golden generation and the game is trying to produce the intented long term replacments for peak Courtois, Alderwield, Vermalen, De Bruyne, the Hazard brother and of course Christian Benteke, sorry I meant Lukaku. So why is it a case of this only working on leagues where they are active but not playable? Well, with playable leagues I suspect the game is randomly creating more on the basis of the clubs actual youth set up etc. When the league is active but not playable, it is doing more of a "50 players just retired and they have average CA of 140 and PA of 170 so therefore we need to spawn in 50 new players of CA 140 and PA 170 to maintain that nation's relative position" And then it is dumping those talented replacements around the sides that exist. Since they are also being dumped into amataur sides that can only offer amataur contracts then you get this wierd "exploit". I suspect you will get similiar results with France as they have been favourites to win things for the last few tournaments and will long term want to replace Lloris, Varane, Pogba, Kante, Mbappe et all. I would also expect the likes of Croatia also works to a slightly lesser degree as a result of them finishing in the last 4 for the last few tournaments and wanting to replace Vida, Modric, Pasalic, etc. I've always made a point of looking at any "small" nation that happens to have a mini-golden generation and does well in a single tournament in real life as you do tend to find a few more gems not usually expected of that nation

Best way I find is to hit search world, pick nation, transfers in that nation, change all transfers to youth intake.. 'This gives you all youth intake in that country from day 1.. n finds dates the youth come in to clubs'

I manage in Chile at the moment and I seriously reccomend scouting all leagues here. There are so many amazing young players and most are are non countracts or extremely cheap. I have a youngster, who was here at the start of the game, who will definitely become one of the best strikers in the world and he is so cheap. There are so many wonderkids here. Also weirdly, I have a terrible HoYD, junior coaching, and recruiment setup yet I get many potentialy world class players come through the youth intake. Thats just at the 2 clubs I have managed here, 1 in the top league and 1 in the bottom, so god knows what it;s like at other clubs

So potentially there’s potential for some quite high potential players with this method sorting by potential. Nice 😂

Does this work on FM22? I watched your video and decided to start a brand new save. I copied your scouting filter off the screen and it showed no players lol. Love the channel btw

Is there any suggestion that this method becomes any less effective over time? I've been using both this and the Brazil filters in my save in Luxembourg to really good effect, but this season particularly I'm struggling to find anybody worth even looking at. Where I was once seeing 50+ players if not more per nation, some nations are now showing less than 10. Not sure if less players being genned or anything like that could be impacting it

Hey Matt, great video as always, I am interested to see if this works for you in the next 1-2 seasons, I using using your database and I am 9 seasons in but this filter doesn't bring up anywhere near the same amount for me. Turkey/Brazil/Argentina/Belgium 0 players, even if I untick the contract filter it brings up 0 players. With no Nation selected only 2400 players. Maybe they only fill the gaps for the first say 5 seasons and then after that the teams and players evens out and they stop adding them into the game. I use you nation scouting so I still have plenty of talent :)

I have just started playing FM23(playing FM21 until recently), and I have found the scouting system is a downgrade on FM21, I really didn't think the scouting system was broken. It now seems to have been made over complicated for the sake of being over complicated with no real benefits over the previous system(which has been fine for years).

Try American college and university leagues for the same thing. Also Canadian and South Korean.

A lot of these are great, but if managing in U.K, the old work permit issue stops a lot of them coming over

3 minutes into the video I paused and looked at soe of the youth national team in europe and started offering contracts and even if i just entered the second season, I managed to find some players an the ones U18 did't want to join and some over 18 would't even talk to me because we just recently turned semi-pro but I managed to sign someone who is very good for my league on an amateur contract. I've been struggling in this save due to the quality of my players but not anymore lol if I can somehow find a first 11 this way it would be awesome

hi. Watched a few of your videos, and just started new save using your optimal database. tried this scouting filter as was really interested in the idea of free potential wonderkids. Have started new save with england only selected, prem to league 2. Tried filter and players only appear from england and no other countries. Do i have to add other playable leagues as well?? I thought the idea of filter in conjunction with optimal database was not to add other playable leagues? Please help. Thanks

I am playing in England League 1, my budget is terrible so never scouted outside UK & Ireland. I also assume that Work Permit will be an issue for these players?

I actually came upon this by accident when I was scouting the u20 euros and had a look at Belgium’s squad. Belgium had a fifteen year old forward who was from a side outside of the top league with 15’s in dribbling, finishing and first touch and 16’s in technique, agility, and pace. And while his mentals could use some work, he’s already looking like the next Kylian Mbappé. For a measly 400k he’d slot into my starting eleven immediately if it wasn’t for the fact that he couldn’t move clubs because he’s too young.

Matt, Quick question that occurred to me during the video - As far as I am aware scouting packages are charged per month, with the charge each month being the highest cost one you have accessed. So afaik you are charged for the world package, whether you use it for 1 day or all of the month. Unless you know different that is.

Am I one of the few who sets up screenflow when I start a lower league save? It's a pretty handy tool for finding some gemes, and setting up a short lists as your progress

Although this is a great way of finding good regens for lower league teams, this wont work if you have less than 200k players database setup

I used to just have a rule of thumb, that anyone of 15 year old in an under 18 or 17 maximum in the u21 squad, was automatically a world beater, scouting became pedantic and mundane from there, the reason behind Belgium is down to youth importance and football importance stats in the database
