Thank you so much :) Okay so: it was really weird Lol the customer lived out near a lake, so he loves wild life. Anyway, he has several bird nests in his garage. They are wild birds but he takes care of them and allows them to come and go as they please. Anyway, to answer your question: Yes I gently took the nest off the machine and he relocated it. So the garage door opener would only travel about a half inch in either direction. This unit has the old school mechanical travel limits too... So diagnostic from ground level was super confusing. The door was still balanced nicely from a previous visit. So I climb up and open the case. There we a bunch of sticks, some sort of insect web material all over the place, and a bunch of dead mud dauber (wasps) larvae all over the inside of the casing. So yeah I cleaned it out and gave it a test run without the case on. It tried to run and got slightly further this time. Sticks and dirt flying out of the actual motor housing itself Lol so then I took it a step further and hit it with a dry tooth brush, and a can of electrical cleaner. I cleared off the rpm sensor as there was debris between it and its magnet/sensor thing.. Used the electrical cleaner and blasted it the copper coils of the actual exposed motor itself, and then just blew out anything else I saw. POW the unit has been SAAVEDA!
