My best friend and I are both over 40 and we JUST said yesterday how our makeup doesn't look the same if we try to do what we did in our 20's. We both agreed less is more as we age. Great tip!

Good point about itchy clothing. I find cotton / viscose long sleeve tops under itchy jumpers useful for thermal purposes, for not feeling itchy and for feeling covered up if I need to take the jumper off in a heated room etc. X

I ordered what I thought was exactly what I was looking for: a quiet-looking white and light beige leopard t-shirt. When I got it, it had a hideous row of rhinestones on the pocket. Fortunately, it was hand-sewn, so I had it off in minutes. I hate embellishments and I hate those puckered sleeve jackets, even all 3/4 sleeves. My lower arms get cold, they’re not practical. Long sleeves can always be pushed up, 3/4 can’t be pulled down, and I don’t want to wear my arm warmers all the time.

Hola Anna, absolutely agree with everything in this video, nevertheless, I do wear jeans one size up, that’s just me. I wear vitamin C , tinted sunscreen, brows and some type of lip, usually a nude. The simplest things I find are the most elegant including making up

Until I started watching KZfaq I purchase, and wore, makeup that was the wrong shade, undertone or formula. I now know why that beautiful eyeshadow that made my sister look absolutely gorgeous made me look like I was auditioning for the circus. 😏 I can so relate to weird or uncomfortable clothing. I bought what I thought was a beautiful blouse but the barely noticeable looks of shock from coworkers told me I looked like I was wearing leftover upholstery fabric. 😨. Every tip you gave was great advice and even though I've been guilty of many of them in my multiple decades on the planet, I'm not offended. No apologies necessary...it's constructive criticism. Love seeing your fur baby and your hubby! XXOO ❤

I am 62. Red lipstick everyday. Most days BB cream, blush and mascara. Totally agree i have pared down the products. Plus never wear something that makes you feel uncomfortable, itchy or unhappy-great advice. Another fun video. Thanks

I’ve always gone for a natural makeup look, women with heavy makeup can look downright scary. Just a little enhancement here and there, a little cheek and lip color, concealer and mascara is all that I want. But, I haven’t worn any since 2/1/20 when I went on isolation. Now that we’re no longer required to mask where I live, I want to resume wearing it.

Great post, thanks! Every time I'm looking through the racks at fast-fashion stores like Burlington and Ross, I'm constantly muttering, "Why do the manufacturers put rhinestones and giant words on all this stuff?" So sad, because a lot of that clothing would make pretty good basics, but the embellishments ruin it.

Great video. I wear make up, but not to cover up, just to enhance a bit so I stay with a natural look. Minimal nudes are my go to make up to add a hint of color. I have a cool olive skin tone so I stay with peach color family for lipstick or blush, nothing too dark or intense. Good skincare routine is a must and as it was mentioned here, I follow a solid approach, sun screen vitamin C, retinA and so on..

Hi Anna, 1) feel free to hate on fast fashion! It is awful for the environment and workers are terribly mistreated (watch the documentary The True Cost!). 2) I never snip the threads in pockets as I read the garment will fall better if you don't. 3) In contrast, a pet peeve of mine is when people don't snip the threads on the slits or pleats at the back of jackets or skirts that are only there to prevent wrinkles in shipping.

I am a person who pretty much never wears makeup. But I love buying it, so I've always new, fresh stuff just in case. Weird, I know.. So on the very rare occasion I wake up early and am motivated/inspired to actually put any on I'm always astounded at how many and how strong of reactions I get from people who are like "WOAH!". And every time, for a split second, I'm flattered.

I too find myself cycling through makeup routines. In the summer I tend to wear WAY less. In the winter, I wear just a tad more because I'm paler and find my features need just a bit more definition. But I'm 57, and I find that as I age, less is more. If I wear too much eyeliner, it just makes my eyes look smaller so I tend to wear brown eyeliner now as opposed to black, even though I'm a brown eyed girl. One thing that helps me is to do my makeup and then take a selfie for my eyes only. It gives me a more realistic impression of what it looks like as opposed to what I see in the mirror! You are gorgeous with or without makeup!

For my job I am required to wear makeup ( I work as a mua/beauty advisor at a higher end cosmetics shop) so I love getting all dolled up but I can appreciate a more natural look. With my customers I always ask them if they want a more natural look or something a bit more extra and both look great on them. Just wear whatever you're comfortable with, even if it's no makeup/a little makeup/a full face. But I do agree, for the face ( foundation etc), less is more. Good skincare is the key!

Anna, this video popped up in my feed today and as usual I found it hilarious. Just a note to let you know that I recently tried several makeup products from Trinny London and am extremely glad I did. If you like the 'no makeup' makeup look they are fantastic. Their hybrids like the BFF with SPF leaves my skin glowy and beautiful. I am considerably older than you so that is quite an accomplishment 😁

Hi, Anna! Love your channel and opinions!! Regarding make up, now that I’m older, I’ve discovered that less is definitely more. My skin tone is hard to match, so I simply use a translucent powder on the shiny spots (ie cheeks and forehead where I slather on the moisturizer 😁). Also, light mascara, brow pencil, and Burts Bees lip products that add just a bit of color. It makes a huge difference and let’s me feel “dressed” but not too much. I usually apply in the car while my husband is driving. 😂. Thank you for your channel!!

I wish I knew you because I love your personality! I totally get it about makeup and wearing it in a way that brings out the features of the face and not wearing so much that the features disappear or what makes them lovely is somehow altered. Makeup is fun and I think some of us (and I'm guilty of this sometimes even accidentally) augment the features into oblivion. And as we all know it's so much harder to take some away than it is to start slowly and gradually and add as needed. I also agree about those itchy sweaters! 😬 They're terrible. I quit with makeup when I was in the military. I prefer a very natural look. I do wear eyeliner and mascara and a light tinted lip. My skin is very clear as a result. Going to go look up those Spanx now! Thanks

I didn’t know about the pockets until just now. Thanks! I feel naked with less makeup, but especially the eye - I need at least mascara and eyebrows at the least - I like tinted moisturizers, or skin like foundation (heavy just weighs it down) - I need blush cheek but I don’t contour and lately not even bronzer. I find doing my makeup relaxing but I feel guilty for taking so long when I could have gotten to work sooner then I feel like I must be vain. I like how other people look with hardly any (Jones Road models are my goals but I feel like I couldn’t pull that off). Ironically my husband hates makeup - whenever he sees someone with heavy makeup who usually doesn’t wear much he thinks they look better without any - loves natural look - I tell him I don’t care because I wear it to make me have more confidence. I need a plan that would slowly help me pair back, but not in a shocking way, where people wouldn’t really notice the dramatic change.

I have never found jeans that don’t fall down or wriggle down after a few steps, I have tried every possible variation, including adding elastic belts. It’s just my straight shape, my hips are too narrow.

Great video. I agree on the makeup. I work from home and I've worked hard to get beautiful skin (I'm 54, with cancer, but most people think I'm in my early 40's and perfectly healthy...it's in the diet) I don't always want to cover it, so it's a little eyeliner, mascara, lip gloss and I'm good. I do more for special occasions, but still keep it low key...mostly because I can't see what I'm applying without my glasses on 😂. Keep saying what you think. Your sassy attitude is adorable.

Sadly, I have never had a pair of pants that surprised me by falling off. I had some surprised me by not buttoning… but not falling off.

I love what you said about makeup! When I was 23, I wore a lot of make up. I’m a teacher, and every day to work, I wore a full face of make up, partly to make myself look older than my students. Now, at 30, I wear very, very little makeup. I think if I wore the same amount of make up now that I wore at 23, it would look horrible. Even though it actually looked good on me at 23. Less is more with makeup, especially as you age, particularly above 25, in my opinion.

Hi Anna. I loved your alien comment. I do agree with your makeup comment. I am trying to do the Parisian look. I feel it has made my complexion better. I still do my eyebrows, light eyeshadow, liner, mascara and under eye concealer. Since I am wearing a mask when I go outdoors I don't bother with blush and lipstick. I think you look beautiful without makeup. I do agree with your sister-in-law. I also thought that outfit looked great. Your dog is sooo cute also. Great tips.

All the trends….lol. I was at a grade school football game and it was windy and cold. This one mom had about 20 trends on…..She looked great for her photos for climbing the bleachers it was a struggle…lol.

Lots of make-up ages you after a certain age. I do a no make- up look. I like my face glowy and I hate lots of stuff on my eyes. I can imagine how rubbing all that off at nights would cause you under-eye area to age prematurely. I don't wear eye liner, and I never have. I agree with you completely about wearing too much make-up.
