I think this is your best video yet! I loved the "second guy" going over the main takeaways from each game - it really helps to notice and understand what the small differences are, when the opponents play different moves Thank you! :)

I literally only play jobava london and caro because I've watched sooooo many of Alex's videos with these openings, and yet somehow yesterday I lost 100 elo and went on the fattest losing streak of my short chess career because I always get the opening development done and then forget what to do in the middle game lol, or just lose a pawn race in the end game after dubious king moves. so infuriating.
@neeru7298
@neeru7298 8 ай бұрын
@@Chase_Adams middle games are very hard. I for exemple tend to blunder too much for my rating. One move mistakes shouldn't be a thing at my rating and I still make too many. I tend to break in the center too soon or with the wrong pawn. Or straight up my plans for the late middle game suck 🤣. Alex is doing God work in giving us solid openings and middle game ideas, but then we are on our own

I'm just about to break 1000 and this video completely changed my view on the caro. I used to play it when I was 500 but kept losing my games and getting worse positions out of the opening. after watching this I'm absolutely stomping kids with the caro. maybe my experience helped but particularly the advanced with qb8 is just crushing pawn structures and leaving guys smashing their keyboards

I've played the Caro Kann for over 40yrs and I'm still learning new ideas from watching your videos. Like play against the fantasy variation that people started to use against me. Thanks to you, Alex, I have a better understanding of it. I gather you don't care for the Karpov variation of the Caro Kann? Otherwise what's your thoughts on it and will that be included in future Caro Kann videos?

he explained in another video that chess theory moved towards immediate Nf6 instead of Nd7. it was originally considered bad to have doubled pawns after 5. Nxf6 exf6, but now it is considered not only sound but even preferrable for black if you are trying to play for a win since it gives black a lot of activity early on. this is why Alex recommendes the tartakower and not the karpov.
