This is such a good hack if you don’t do it too often to prevent traction alopecia. I think they do sell wigs with contraptions similar to this hack. I follow a lot of Black creators on IG and I feel like I’ve seen one or two of them making sponsored posts for wigs with clip installs. I’m not entirely sure because I don’t wear wigs myself (not yet). But maybe since you’re more in the hair world you can take a look to see if there’s something similar to your hack. I’m not trying to diminish your efforts here. I just think it’s nice to have the already made version of DIY hacks for people who may not be very DIY capable and prefer to just buy something than make it. In any case, I love this and I love your content.

I wear wigs almost every day. I dress vintage full time and I can't tease a beehive for the life of me. Having shoulder length hair with a scalp that is sensitive, putting on my wigs right is very important. With lace wigs especially, it's still hard for me to glue it down precisely. So I totally understand the struggle. Most days I just put it up in a mesh open ended wig cap which is the best way I've found that works 90% of the time and doesn't take that long. But that's because I'm very open with my wig wearing so I'm not as concerned if a bit of lace pops up or my hair isn't laid perfectly flat. In terms of headaches, YES! I already get chronic migraines and wigs don't help with that but like you Stella, I love wearing them too much so I just take painkillers. It's not even because they're tight, all of mine fit me perfectly fine. My head is just incredibly sensitive and as said before I get migraines even when I haven't worn a wig for like a week. I hope the clip method helps people but for me, I'm a bit paranoid as to scalp hygiene so I don't feel comfortable wearing my wigs directly on my scalp without some layer in between.

Could you pop a clip or two near the centre like next to the parting so maybe that would combat the gap?
@cameo86

Would you try that hack again with a wig that has bangs and can disguise the gap at the hairline? Would it be possible to add two more tiny clips "underneath" the bangs to make it hold on even better? Does it reduce the traction alopecia if you add more and even smaller clips, so the weight doesn't focus on only two places? I've got some questions 😅 Sorry, don't mind me

Bangs are your friend if you want to wear wigs without worrying about the hairline. Also, I know it's awesome to style real hair, but synthetic doesn't lose its shape in the rain. The more you wear wigs (I wear mine daily) the less you care about how "real" it looks. I don't wear caps or even wig grips, but I absolutely love clips. Is it obvious that it's a wig? No. Have I been called out? Not lately because I wear high-quality wigs now. Back in the day, yes. I had a 40-dollar wig, a bright blonde bob with no dimension to the color except for roots that were way too dark, so it was obvious and I got called out for it. Even if you spend just a little bit more, like 160-260 is a nice midrange for synthetics, the color and cut are way more believable. You'll have to decide high fashion over quality even then, but I love Jon Renau and Noriko wigs.

Oooo maybe try pulling the wig taught on both sides and then back a little and then adding the clips above your ears and cut or put the remaining ear tab lace behind your ears that way the lace lays like a headband or hed bow. I think that would remove the gaping because it would be flush it might be a bit tight but because it’s flexible lace I don’t think it would hurt Oo or ad 2 more clips a bit higher that way it can contour more to a hed shape and stay flush ^v^

Glue the front down. Simple. The clips can be useful for the ear tabs if you have ones that fly up in the wind and you cant get them to stay glued like me, but other than that just wear a wig grip headband and glue your front down so theres no lifting. Id feel like the clips would also damage your lace being that close to the edge, lace ripping is more common than some think

I wonder if you could get away with not glueing it down and only clips if instead of curtain bangs you'd have a full on frontal fringe, that way you just blow dry it with a round brush and that's it. But yes, it does look better with make up it draws attention away from the gap.

Sounds very promising, i’ve short natural hair a bit shorter than yours, an a lot of problems especially this last years with head pain… i didn’t know that that was linked with the wig cap, despite i always ended removing it still hurting…guess i remove it too late lol. I love your idea, about the gap, just patience to style it. Also a bit of a vent but why most why most wigs, human or synthetic hair, have 180%, 200% or more of density? Too much hair isn’t gonna look real, said by someone with voluminous hair af😅. If there is a 150 % in the one i like i select it like i saw the rarest item lol. No mo thining scissors. I just enthusiast changing the color if i wast. Thanks thanks and thanks gorgeous i will trie soon them. Chao and molto buono desei per te and for all the commerter. ( tried to sey many good wishes lol9
