According to a statement written by an former (anonymous) employee from Twitch (and if you decide to believe it as true) who was close to the issue when it was happening made some things clear. 1) The age of the person was not known at the time. 2) Said individual was seeking help from DOC's team to grow a channel themself. 3) Behind the scenes, DOC's team provides a service to help grow channels under a different brand name. 4) According to the writer, the brand name could be interpreted different ways, and was by certain members at Twitch, specifically ones that didn't like DOC. 5) There was a group of Twitch employees that strongly disliked DOC and wanted him gone. 6) It was taken to court and in discovery, this group of DOC haters were found conspiring to 'get him' and broke their Data Protection Internal Policy and CCPA Regulations. 7) The writer speculates that the argument made by DOC's haters was along the lines of "why else would he be messaging someone of that age" implying bad intentions. 8) DOC initiated the legal proceedings, won the case and got paid. Both parties agreed to no wrongdoing. 9) According to the writer, there are messages but not of "sexting" nature. 10) DOC told MS there are messages but he couldn't share them due to his settlement agreements. MS made their decision anyway, possibly digging their own grave. 11) This was all about ruining Dr.Disrespect's reputation.

I'm about to say something that can be potentially controversial, but I wanted to hear how this resonates with people and what sort of constructive counter-arguments people make. So first off, talking with pre-pubescent girls, kids really, is something I would immediately condemn as well. It's straight up disgusting. These are typically very vulnerable individuals who aren't even physically ready to have sex yet. But then we come to female puberty. Typically this happens between the ages of 8 to 13. Now even at 13-14 these kids are still very young and older men would no doubt find it easy to take advantage of them, so I understand why interacting with them in a sexual manner is cringed upon, let alone illegal. But different cultures and ages have and do determine the age of maturity in very different ways and in different levels. A 16 year old having sex with a 16 year old? I doubt anyone would find that particularly odd. An 18 year old having sex with a 16 year old is a crime, but do those two years really make so much of a difference that this should be criminalized..? That sounds.. silly. 38 year old with a 16 year old sounds pretty wild, but again, the age of consent and the age of sexual maturity has been societally set and it's only the latest modern western iteration that sets the hard line to the second you turn 18. Does this seem kind of arbitrary or weird to anyone else? I understand that these lines would have to be drawn somewhere in order to legislate and enforce the laws, but to call someone a "child molester" colloquially gives a very different and distorted idea of what has actually happened. When I hear someone is a child molester, I immediately think "They had sex with a 10 year old...??". 16 year olds tho....? I've met plenty that are more mature than many 25 year olds. As a disclaimer, I personally have 0 interest in anyone under the age of, what, 25-30? But something about this just makes me feel like it's more sensationalism than anything else.. Maybe I'm wrong.
