You should combine all the infection mods for version 19.: Gigeresque, fungal infection, Skulk, The Diffy experience, etc.

There is a little compatibility between FAW, Fungal Infection and Sculk Horde but more is planned. Right now you can just configure whether they attack each other but I want to add more cool stuff like hybrids in the future. I already have a concept for a mob that is the result of both the fungal infection and The Thing infecting a mob at the same time, it may be added in the FAW update after the next

i like the sort of "pandora's box" aspect of the mod where nothing is spawned in and can be contained before it gets out of hand unlike other mods where the infection is uncontainable and constant and unstoppable such as scape and run.

Sculk wont ever spawn until you go to the world origin so I guess that’s your perfect pandora’s box

I can concur, I had a lot of fun playing this mod but you need to nip this thing in the bug early, or else it is really curtains.

I really like the fact that it's one entity doing everything, and physically infects the world on its own (as opposed to a mod like Scape and Run, which does do that, but much so with the assistance of infected mobs being "injected" via spawning). It's a really cool way it's done

SRP is this mod, but a hivemind, the infected mobs dont spawn infected but get infected from parasites (Call of the hive). I still prefer SRP over all other infection type mods ive seen but this mod is my second favorite in this category. If you want to make it so the parasites arent injected in, you can turn it to phase -1 in order to make it so parasites cannot naturaly spawn, and need to infect in order to naturaly spawn. Both mods are great nonetheless.

Technically it's not just that one entity, anything that it infects can also infect more mobs. Just one of any mob from the mod has the potential to start an outbreak. But yeah a big part of the mod is that the mobs will never randomly appear, they can only arrive from events (currently just the starship crash and a "secret" event not many people know about that can only happen after 30-40 in-game days) or be created as part of the actual lifecycle (infecting and some other more niche situations like splitting and from growths)

@@Mctrrt1 I love SRP too but I think you'd need to make more adjustments than that to make it like FAW, in FAW the mobs never naturally spawn even if the infestation gets really bad. It's all purely the lifecycle which means strategies like forming perimeters and containing them are possible (but difficult since they can create tunnels to escape). In theory if you use a nuke mod you could actually completely wipe them out until the next event happens

It's cool that the base alien (blue with red eyes) is actually based on its description from the old novella 'Who Goes There?', which is what inspired 'The Thing'.

i can already tell this mod is heavily inspired by the movie (the thing) especially with the giant infected spider looking thing. (the edit was just grammar mistakes not exactly good with English anymore)

It's actually inspired by everything Thing related, from Frozen Hell/Who Goes There? to The Thing From Another World and Carpenter's The Thing practically every form it takes is rooted in some version of the story,, I wouldn't be surprised if the mod dev decides to pull out some stuff from the Prequel movie that was cut or grossly covered in CGI at this rate and stuff from the Video Game and its cancelled sequel...

The Alien Thing drops Alien Circuitry which doesn't do anything yet and is basically just a trophy for beating it, others just drop assimilation liquid which you can use to infect other mobs yourself
