I have a Evo IX running 500 bhp and it is a really fast car, but these new Audis are in a different league My car is 12 years old now it has only done 30000 miles from new. I keep thinking, should I add more power to my car or should I sell it and get an Audi, they are so tuneable. Difficult decision.

@@nepaleseman1010 if you think these audi are in a different league coming from a 500 hp evo then there's something wrong with your car.. i have 3 cars one of which is a 19 year old impreza p1 which has 550 hp on a gt30. Iv clocked 60 in 3.6 seconds without even trying, hell it was doing 4.6 seconds to 60 with 276 hp 19 years ago stock and the sti 400 does it in 3.8 with only 395 horses, even the fq400 evo does it in 3.5 seconds from 2004 and these are all on MANUAL gear boxes which says alot..so if you feel you need to jump ship because of performance then something is not right with your evo or your not driving it correct. I also own a golf r dsg to balance things lol. And its nice to have creature comforts but remember although these new vag cars have double clutch auto boxes they are also fat an heavy and nearly 1600kg (rs3). Norris designs and andy forest proved it a long time ago doing 7 second 1/4 mile times.

@@brucewayne2397 No my my Evo is very fast, I have not timed 0 to 60 or quarter mile , but I have had an indicated 180mph. I have a blouch turbo, the spool up is really fast. Power comes in 2700rpm and goes to 7000rpm. My friend has a standard golf r and I was very impressed how fast it felt. I do not generally drive the Evo as it should be, she is a garage queen, only done 30000 miles from new and only been in the rain twice in twelve years.

Rough/Thudding shifts are not from the engine mounts, more likely from the ECU/TCU tune calibration or some latent mechatronic/clutch issue. They should be seamless even under load with stiff mounts.

It'll be shoving it in gear as fast as possible, no time wasted on backpedaling the engine to rev-match, it won't do much good for the gearbox down the line, it's already far above the rated limit of the box. Interesting fact: To drop the rpm so fast, the ignition timing is delayed so far the spark is during the exhaust stroke, slowing the engine down. That's what the loud "BRRRrrrr" is that you normally get in DSG's.

@@ValkyrieStarTV I wasn't referring to the torque reduction on the shifts. If the shifts are kicking/thudding/rough something is wrong/improperly calibrated.

@@stygmartyr Yep, it's probably been mapped to not pull timing/fuel/spark on shifts, will make it harsh on shifts and it'll wear the clutches fast, with correct mapping/tuning it should be barely noticeable except for being faster shifting and should almost completely rev-match to keep the clutches lasting as long as possible, that's why stock DSG maps are fairly conservative, they're designed for the clutches to last the life of the car. The stock engine mounts are often pretty soft on VAG cars too, so with each shift the mount was probably slamming between each end of its maximum travel. Stiffer mounts stop that slopping and also help reduce wheel hop for the same reason, less shocks through the drivetrain.

Haha nice one that dude is like my twin minus the arm tattoos and the rs3 lol's,i got a a3 8p 2.0tfsi quattro manual (s3/ed30 engine swap stock engine was the AXX 200hp 2.0tfsi that you also find in a golf 5 gti,now i got BYD engine code in it) got alot of mods though like hybrid tte420 turbo,a stage 1 loba motorsport cnc head with supertech valvetrain(should hold up to 8500rpm),stock pistons with I.E. forged conrods,engine mounts,big ass intercooler,intake,155bar fuel return valve with stock s3 injectors,upgraded fuel hp fuel pump,ttrs lp fuel pump,very expensive okada ign. coil packs,HPA intake manifold(was the first in Belgium to have that on a 2.0 tfsi,now my tuner sells them😁)reinforced con rod bearings,short shifter,porsche boxter/brembo breaks on stock 312mm disc slotted disc brakes on the front,H&R coils,3" exhaust catless downpipe,and only 1 small rear muffler,it screams(on the dyno it had 200cell cat)😂😂😂,lightweight flywheel with 550 nm sachs clutch(i wouldn't recommend a lighter flywheel on this manual gearbox tbh,the gearchanges became much slower and if you want to be fast you nearly scraping gears,seriously considering a OEM single mass flywheel to get my gear changes back + i had to put a spacer in my gearbox on the primary shaft,because without it i had gearbox problems,do not worth the swap to light weight.) got some recaro pole position bucket seats rear seat and aircon delete with shorter accessory belt,and probably some other mods i forgot😅 but it makes for a fun 414hp 545nm (it need bigger injectors to make more power and a tte480 would be ideal😉)daily that i barely drive😅( i got serious crohns illness so this is a bit serious since i need surgery again next year and i had to stop my job as a mechanic 3years ago and also stop my car project,i put my hart and soul into that car,lucky to still have the car thanks to my parents who supported me,so big shout out to them for being so amazing❤️👍👍👍❤️) if anyone wants to check out the dyno run it's on my YT profile page,nice video i definitly subed since if seen a few interesting things here lately,big shout out for supporting the tuners among us👍👍👍👍
