Tbh my best friend's brother made a decent amount of money off of one game that's kind of like farmville (one of the developers of farmville helped make it I think). Anyways yea it's a complete gamble because people have to come aboard for you to make money (and you have to trust in the creators). Regardless, he's probably made around a hundred grand off of it so far, and a lot of it is passive income. The coin the game uses is called GALA coin. I think it dropped in price recently though, so idk where he's at now. It's pretty interesting how the game works and some can actually make money off of it.

of course. but it is about the money. its about to rip off as many people as possible. back in the days nobody would buy bad games. i played a demo before i bought a game everytime. today you got a lot of people who will buy everything because its new. and pretend it is good becaue they paid the full price. and there are a lot of fanboys anyways. you dont need to build a good game anymore. its enough when it hits the shelfs. no need t go the extra mile for developers or publishers. even with a huge shitstorm the games made enough money to finish with a financial plus!

one of the biggest red flags to me is when they say "the game is 10x bigger than *insert title of well liked game here*" because it tells me its going to be a giant empty field with nothing to interact with and no reason to explore the world

Fun fact, the phrase "Metaverse" comes from a 90s sci fi novel. Any "Virtual world" plot based movie is based on that. Not nessicarly being a bad thing, but the books about shitty companies using it to gain More and more. And like, man, we're just jumping straight to it huh?

And even then, a metaverse has to be FUCKING OPEN SOURCE. No "Metaverse" project is actually a metaverse.

I do agree with you on this but at the same time I am also an artist and I have finally been able to create an actual living selling my art for nft projects (and I get credited for my work every time). It sucks that art theft happens but it sadly doesn't just happen in the crypto space. I think the crypto space has definitely highlighted the fact that this is a thing that happens :(

I tried years ago and it was hard af just to do an enemy AI that will shoot at you and dodge, and when your hit, you lose life except you need to code what "life" I'd and how much of it you have left.

Yeah, it is more impressive than Earth 2 because you can actually see for yourself how "skilled" their "developers" are. I could see a few people investing in this garbage if it wasn't for the demo

I play a few blockchain games that are actually quite fun :) Some of them are completely free to play and you if you want you can buy skins for your character in the form of NFTs. The pro is that if you wanted to stop playing the games you can just sell your skins unlike most modern AAA titles where you have spent money on skins that can't be sold to regain or even profit off of your investment.

@@VagueSpaces The idea of what has value to you is different to what others think has value. Sure I have purchased NFTs that I regret but there are many more that I have really enjoyed and have done extremely well even after I have sold them :) Some cosmetic items I have purchased also came with utility (access to specific regions or small bonuses). I'm not trying to get you to understand that the world of crypto isn't a scam... Sure there are a lot of scammers out there in the world of crypto but the same can be said about the rest of the world currencies but we just hear about a lot of crypto scammers because crypto is a hot topic right now. Just because you don't fully understand what something is doesn't mean that its automatically a scam. I always tell people to DYOR when going into anything.

I personally prefer my assets to have function so I agree with you there but if someone sees value in a rare item or in something they like/ enjoy then who are we to tell them they are wrong.

I agree. And looking at the team, there is no way five people (of which not all are developers, mind you) can create a huge "metaverse" game, even if all of them were true industry veterans. Even a smallish AA game will often need a team of 20+ people working on it for several years. And if they really had a veteran game designer from Ubisoft who worked on Farcry, wouldn't they have proudly named him more than a nondescript "Tom" with a cartoon of a profile pic? I'm a software developer and I know that trying to create a bigger project than you're able to pull off is all too common in the software development world as well, not only gaming. I always advice budding developers that they should not start creating an operating system, the Office suite or something else big as that, but start making small stuff, like a really simple notepad or a calculator. If they are interested in making games, I would suggest making a Snake clone, or a Pacman clone or Tetris or something like that. Start small to learn the ropes and increase scope and difficulty as your experience grows. You don't have to create just a single game in your life and it doesn't have to be the best game ever created. It's much better to create 10 small but functioning and fun games, than to fail making one huge. I wish more people understood that. However, I think these folks Bigfry's talking about are just scammers, plain and simple.
