Fun fact: Gouging Fire's bulk is so absurd its extremely comparable to GARGANACL. And if you buikd gouging fire for max mixed bulk like a garganacl(depending on exactly how you ev them), gouging ends up with 2 more hp, 4 less def, and the same sp def. As GARGANACL. While having 115 atk and 91 speed. And dragon dance This pokemon is not fair

That Primarina + Arma team was actually featured a couple days ago on Aaron Zheng's channel and it's a surprisingly strong team when piloted correctly. Primarina usually Aqua Jets into Armarouge turn 1 to activate weak armor and weakness policy and then Armarouge takes it from there. The Primarina is also very bulky and surprisingly powerful. In some games it picked up KO after KO for Aaron. Obviously Aaron also just makes teams look good but it's a strong comp.

I like Gouging Fire next to Annihilape. Very good vs Fake Out, Howl support, and a fun, bulky way to start a game before bringing in faster, heavy hitters in the back.

I'm gonna throw burning bulwark on smeargle for casual matches. I wanted to use a prankster murkrow next to it but didnt realize mirror move got taken out in swsh. Woulda been really funny to get 2 burns on turn one

What are your thoughts on using Morning Sun instead or Burning Bulwark if you have a sun team? I've been playing through the Indigo Disk using Clear Amulet Gouging Fire next to Groudon and have had so much fun with it even if it is just destroying the NPC's lol

Fun fact: Dino Entei is the heaviest paradox pokemon overall. (590 kg! Even Emboar's 150kg lol) So heat crash's gonna deal 100+ most of the time, having stab, harsh sunlight, protosynthesis and an extra dragon dance is a literal overkill. Highly recommend Morning sun for him aswell he learns it at 42. With harsh sunlight its 2/3 total hp!

I’m running max sp. def with some hp and attack investment; doing Dragon Dance, Heat Crash, Morning Sun, and Breaking Swipe to help with the defensive side. On a sun team. It’s mad funny.

Fun fact: Gouging Fire is not a legendary Pokémon. In the indigo disk you can’t trade npcs legendaries but you can trade them Gouging Fire (if you’re weird). This is interesting because I’ve seen a small debate over whether the paradox beasts count as legendaries, the games don’t think so.

I just watched this video and gave Gouging Fire a try with the first load out you suggested. Oh my god... It slaps. Won 4 games in a row with it. I paired it with an Ogerpon like you did but what EVs are you running? I'd like to make my Ogerpon bulkier so it can make more use of Howl

Looking at weight tiers, Heat Crash is only good if you’re doing a bulky build to keep it from taking recoil & has partners keeping it alive too. I found 16 different meta important Pokémon that are both heavy enough to make Heat Crash only do 20-40 damage at the same time as resisting the Fire damage. Flare Blitz damage is way too consistent to pass up

I use an offensive Gouging Fire with 92 HP Evs to hit 192 for optimal leftovers recovery. Even when it’s not super bulky it can eat so many hits and pair it up with a Pokémon that can reduce special attacks like Ting-Lu or Eerie Impulse Thundurus it can get so many free Dragon Dances. Speaking of Ting-Lu is an amazing answer to Raging Bolt Lando-I and a lot of the special attackers in the meta game, I’m surprised people won’t use it.

I basically run the howl gouging fire with dragon cheer instead to support my Regidrago. I find it really funny to just spam draco meteors and kill things on neutral hits

I was the guy with the Incineroar and porygon2..😅 i expected those leads u had...but I had a lot of faith in my Porygon2's defense so I still lead with Incineroar and Porygon2..never really used Gouging Fire but I think I'll give that temper flare Howl set a go

everyone really likes Jolly i see, i'm personally using adamant with 60 speed max atk and full bulk, just to outspeed based 110 after ddance (mostly for Wake) and i really didn't find myself thinking i wanted to be faster. Either way the mon's feeling pretty strong.

With Teal Mask Ogerpon’s support specifically, I managed to create a really unique howl set that’s done well for me on the bo3 showdown ladder: Shuca Berry + Tera Steel. You don’t need tera grass because of Ogerpon’s redirection, and you don’t need clear amulet because of Ogerpon’s defiant. I was considering booster energy and tera fairy, but both Landorus-I and Flutter Mane were giving me problems. With shuca berry and tera steel, those matchups have been completely patched.

Why on the Howl set do you run temper flare over Heat Crash? I can understand not running Flare Blitz since this is more of a support set you may not want the recoil. But why Temper Flare, I don't see the secondary effect triggering a lot.

He explains it. If your opponent tries to fake out and stop your howl, you get a nuke with temper flare on the next turn Your opponent is never faking you out again(and in open team sheets i.e. tourneys your opponent likely won't click fake out even once) It's just anti-fake out warfare basically

Surprised there was no sun team set. Sun and proto speed would mean that setting up sun is a free dragon dance for your fire moves, which is probably why they had to make the only fire past paradox be defensive.

If burning bulwark gets distributed to fire types in gen 10 it's going to be wild. Imagine Inciniroar with it. Intimidate then burn anything that wants to hit it. Physical attackers getting bullied even harder. I think one of the better users would be Torkoal of all pokemon. Burning bulwark turn 1 to get trick run up, eruption, then tank any burnt physical attacker with godly bulk. I'm 100% on board for unique type based protects. Spiky shield is already a great move and stuff like silk trap is neat (I wish other spider-mons got it though).

What’s the interaction with urshifu hitting while you use burning bulwark do they get burned?

No. Unseen fist makes your contact moves completely bypass protect. Even looking at singles - where Urshifu commonly runs punching glove to get passed rocky helmet -, punching glove makes it so that your punching moves don't make contact at all. So either he's making contact and ignoring your bulwark, or he's getting stopped by your bulwark but not actually making contact with it

Couldnt u just counter gouging fire with something like a Toxic Orb (edit i put black sludge) on a non poison type so u cannot get burned? set up first time with a swords dance or calm mind etc cos they gonna go for the burning bulwark to check then ur set up and u cannot be burned now.

I love this pokemon, But hes very unwelcome in the current meta. Between non contact moves, urshifu, and all the special attackers running around, the amount of things actually burnable can be counted on one hand

I played against a gorging fire party and I won with my (custom party I made with no stereotype) last support Pokémon (who could attack) by knocking out Pokémons until my opponent had only one support Pokémon, who couldn’t attack I guess because the guy gave up. In short, I went out of that battle with several severe wounds 🫠

Usually go grass raging bolt mode but heatran causes issues there so I Tried something else. It worked game 1 then I just got stubborn
