Well there is nothing too revolutionary about recycling steel with electricity, but I am still happy that they are doing it

Molten oxide electrolysis from Boston Metal looks like the best process to make green steel. A hydrogen based process is also showing promise.

I don't want to jump on the band wagon but the title needs changing. I know its a great product and all but be real, this is a click bait title for sure. There is no need for that. I think most of the B1M audience aren't 'hype people'. Get excited about things for sure but still need to be accurate with statements as much as we like buildings to be built accurate to their measurements

I agree. This isn’t a new type of steel at all. It’s the same steel as before. Only difference is the energy source used to recycle the steel. Basically this new steel is just recycling old steel and only using renewable energy to do so.

This video is a bit misleading. All SSAB zero steel is is recycled steel processed using green electricity and biogas. Not really anything that new about it. SSAB Fossil Free is a bit more interesting because that uses hydrogen instead of coal to reduce the ore. But that's not what this video is about for some reason.

Additionally "just a new manufacturing method" is completely diminutive - a serious contender economically to traditional methods with the potential to decrease greenhouse emissions (and a plan to make a big dent in the market within a year)is amazing news, and much more poignant than a syntactic error

Syntax aside this is fantastic!! Steel is steel, seems people here already know this. Yes, the title should be "new steel refining process" or similar But everyone is focusing on the wrong thing here and glancing over the real news here: zero carbon steel on an affordable, industrial scale - that really is game changing! So maybe we should be celebrating the positives instead of nitpicking at grammar eh? 😅

So, this process transfers the pollution output from fossil fuels to the also high pollution levels and added unreliability of "green energy." Sounds so logical.

This is very old technology in India when no technology was developed, steel was made through scrap only. Steel can be made with scrap only for lesser quantities because sufficient scrap is not available. When making steel from scrap, quality of steel will decline

@joshuabanner3675
@joshuabanner3675 Жыл бұрын
@@rapierlynx This product specifically is a combination of an electric arc furnace and bio-gas coking/chemical treatment of the scrap steel used. The hydrogen thing isn’t about burning hydrogen for heat, it’s about coking/chemically drawing out the impurities in raw iron ore.

@@bobdickweed while I agree with the title proposal, and the fair enough statement that yes, steel can be alloyed in different ways depending on the requirements: it still seems a tad pedantic - most people aren't alloy experts, and I think the positives need the focus more than the mistakes in technical vocabulary - or at least part of the focus, rather than a total focus on word choice - words are just words, sentiment holds the meaning.

@@toomanymarys7355 excuse me, but whats wrong with being overtly sexual? Never mind the suggestion you've made about orientation differences being a deviance, there's literally nothing wrong with exploring sex. Your name and picture make me think you're catholic. Therefore by your own scripture, you don't have the right to judge people that's apparently God's job. If not, then do the sensible thing - judge people for what they do, not who they are - and trying to call out people who are different than you and berate them somehow, that was your choice of action. People don't choose who they are attracted to.
