While ballscreens are the most popular form of offense in today's game, it's important to be able to distinguish between different types of ballscreens. The alignment of the players on offense makes a significant difference when it comes to reading a defense.
In this video, we'll go through several of the key reads that you need to make when using a cleared side ballscreen.

Great Video! The common terminology is actually “empty” ball screen, since the ball side corner is empty.

@@TheFilmRoom1 I also really appreciate that you are actually analyzing European Basketball. It has, in my opinion, more nuance and complexity to it that NBA, as the latter is more based on exploiting 1v1 mismatches.

@@TheFilmRoom1 So as I just discovered your channel and saw all the different playlists that you have, I thought that maybe it could be very helpful if there was a video or even a series that explains all the Basketball-language. Kind of like an online Basketball-dictonary. Just an idea. Thank you for all the material you have already put out there and are still putting out!

Great video man, do you work in basketball/coaching? If so how much film did you watch/study when trying to learn and understand the game

Thank you! I’m currently a college coach and have been since I graduated from college in 2013. I’ve been watching film ever since then pretty much all year around (which I’m a believer there’s no substitute for experience - so a lot of what I know has just come from watching so much basketball) But the reason I run this channel is because I didn’t know the majority of the stuff I teach on this channel until I was 5-6 years into coaching. So, my desire is to help people learn what took me over a decade in a much faster process to grow the game.

@@alfie-oj4yr I played at Iowa State, and then got right into coaching after I graduated. I went from the NAIA level to junior college, to NCAA D2, to NAIA as a head coach, back to D2 as an assistant (currently).

Any particular reason you use Euroleague footage? I think I've seen plenty such actions in the NBA as well.
@TheFilmRoom1
@TheFilmRoom1 Ай бұрын
Good question. I am in a partnership with a company called WSC Sports, who gives me access to Euroleague footage. I don’t have the same access to NBA footage, and would get hit with copyright strikes if I were to use it. But I also really like Euroleague ball & think it’s vastly underrated and under-watched. But, my hope is one day I’ll be able to use NBA footage as well!

@@TheFilmRoom1 ahhh understood. I was leaning towards the defensive coverages being different and with more help D, due to that no defensive 3 second violation. I wonder if that at all changes how these actions are ran/defended across both leagues.

@@christiangavingale3349 oh absolutely. The defensive 3 seconds in the NBA almost makes it an entirely new game. I would love to see the NBA bring it back.

Hey. Thanks for reaching out! I have a lot of videos on my channel that I think would help you. I’d recommend going thru my playlists and watching videos on a topic that interests you first. There’s also a lot of other really good channels out there with great information. I haven’t done a video on handling pressure, but you’re not the first person to request that. So, I will look into making something about that in the near future.
