Treat your store like a business because it is. That is so true. I was just dabbling for the first 2 years, and now I'm way more serious. I've grown more over the last 6 months of taking it seriously than I did in 2 years of just winging it.

Hi Becca! One thing I did was to try and find something I had that was different and unique from everyone else on TpT. It was really hard because there is so much (!) and so far I have only found one thing but I did it. I worked really hard on my product and it is the most expensive product I have but it has been selling. Competition is really tough out there. Thank you for all your help and suggestions in the past. I still have a problem with getting people to leave feedback.

That is the BEST thing to do-- although it is difficult to find something! So glad that you did! That's normal. Frustrating. But normal.

I want to continue focusing on digital product creation such as digital quizzes, card sorts, and escape rooms. I purchased a digital planner and am using it to help me organize everything, along with Trello. I want to use these tools to get better at batching and planning out each product. I want to make it to 50 products!

I find it difficult to estimate how long a particular thing is going to take. I sit down to design and love to keep working once creativity starts to flow; however I have so many other things to do during the day. Some things I make take longer and some take much less time, but since each product is unique, it is hard to predict. I try to use templates to help with this, so I'm not starting from scratch every time. I recently started my business and have set schedules of what needs to be done daily, weekly, and monthly. You are ABSOLUTELY right and shouldn't be scared to give sage advice to upgrade as you go, because this is best! Thanks, Becca!

I totally understand! Sometimes things take longer or shorter. The biggest thing is to decide how long you’ll work, and then work on that the whole time. So I’ve been batching my blog posts in the morning, and I give myself an hour. Sometimes I finish one, sometimes two, and sometimes I don’t finish any. But I always work that whole hours regardless of how much I get done.

Thanks for your honesty, Becca. Yep, don't invest money that you are not making on your business! I've spent alot of money, but sadly, from not treating my business like a business, I haven't made so much! Focusing on better planning for this upcoming year!

I am going to make sure I am ONLY using profits to buy clip art because I love to buy new clip art and that will (hopefully) entice me to create more products. BTW I got your book and it is phenomenal. Easy read but packed with valuable information.

It is hard, but you need those hours to make your shop grow! Pick what you know you can stick with, and then maybe add an hour or two that are optional. This way if you feel like it, you can get a bit more done.

I need to get better at planning how I'm going to spend my work time, not for my TpT store. I'm always full of ideas for that. But for the educational consulting business I started in 2020, because apparently starting a TpT store and dealing with a global pandemic in 2020 just wasn't enough for me. Anyway, I spend more time learning about TpT and such than starting a consulting firm, which is probably why my TpT store is starting to turn a profit but I have no consulting clients... I love that your advice on TpT highlighted how I can solve this other problem not related to my store at all. Thank you.

I find that in business, all of the lessons you learn apply to every part of your life. The longer I run my business, the better I am as a teacher. And the better I am as a wife. It's crazy how it's all connected. Also-- I feel you on the starting ALL of the things!

Hi Becca! I just got my first 3-star review 😭😭😭 (I had consistent 5-star ratings until today). Can you make a video or blog about how to handle negative reviews? FYI - The buyer was upset because they noticed a couple grammar issues on the product.
@BeccaDavis
@BeccaDavis 3 жыл бұрын
That's such a good idea! You should know-- that happens often (at least to me!). I just had someone email me and there was a mistake in a product that's been up for YEARS. The biggest thing is to reply kindly, fix the problem, and then MOVE ON. It happens. It will happen again. It's not personal.

If your products have grammar issues...and you're selling to teachers, you're in trouble. Get someone to review your products before uploading the product.

Ha Ha! I am one of those lucky few that was able to invest lots of money WITHOUT making any money. Well, I don't count the $6 dollars I have made as making money. What I have to say about buying all the things up front is this. It is TOO overwhelming. I bought a very expensive course. It's great, but as a newbie it was TOO overwhelming. And it made me feel like a failure because I always felt SO behind. My advice-take a class that only focuses on one thing.

I'm a stay at home mom, so I teach a few Outschool classes while my son is awake (he WILL NOT sleep through me talking... 🤣) and I focus all nap times and after he goes to sleep on my TpT and our Etsy business. It's a huge work in progress because I JUST got this crazy toddler to start staying asleep in his bed. 😅 But now I am going CRAZY with all this time I can focus on our business goals! I just really have to focus on writing a list because... Sometimes I don't and I have so many things I want to get done for both. I have to say ok this day is TpT day, this day is Etsy day, this day is tax prep day, etc. 😊

Becca-- Just started watching your videos...I actually have a notebook to take notes!! My question is...I have many people downloading my free products, and not as many purchasing my other products. I figure, my products, on the whole, must be ok if people are downloading free products...what can I do to get as many PURCHASING??? Should I make more of my freebies... paid products? It gets a little frustrating when I check my product stats (weekly) and see the only things getting traction are my freebies!
@BeccaDavis
@BeccaDavis 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Laura! That’s normal! It’s waaaaay easier to download a free product than to spend money. I would say don’t stress about it. Make some new, paid products- maybe make a product that is similar to your free product so that people can use the free one and then buy the paid one. Also right now it’s summer so no one is selling much
