If you want to learn how to become a digital nomad and overcome the challenges that come with it, one of the best things you can do is surround yourself with positive people who will lift you up and support you.
One great resource for finding a community of like-minded individuals is my free online community Nomad School.
►► Join Here → nomadskool.com/...
By joining Nomad School, you can connect with other aspiring and successful digital nomads who can provide valuable insights, encouragement, and guidance.
Additionally, Nomad School offers a range of courses and resources to help you learn the skills you need to succeed as a digital nomad.
In today's video, I want to discuss a common issue that affects many people looking to become digital nomads: caring too much about what others think of you.
This mindset problem can hold people back from achieving success as a digital nomad and is responsible for many of the failures and difficulties that I've seen among new digital nomads starting out.
I'll also be sharing a personal story about how my own fear of judgment held me back from publishing videos on this channel for six months.

Been watching your channel for a few years now. I have spent over 7 years in Thailand over the years, and I love it. You just get better and better. You speak to me in this upload. Thanks for being honest and straight forward. No BS. Keep it up, Dev. Good luck. Cheers from Denmark.

This resonates with me a lot. It's the reason why I off-linked at least a dozen people in my early twenties. I then completed a PhD, changed profession, etc. Banter or no banter, it's probably not good for you to be around friends who laugh at you for simply reading a book or for "getting ideas above your station".

This is what I was thinking..l am in my last six months as a traditional teacher in China and my US family is in disbelief that I’d rather live in other countries than live in the US as I build my online business…but I know if I go home, my energy will be sucked in a totally different direction because I find it much easier to do my thing when I’m apart from these people. If I live alone or surround myself with likeminded people, on the other hand, my energy and productivity skyrocket. So glad I found your channel today. Thanks.

One of the great things about KZfaq is there are so many channels. So if you want to start a channel but are worried about what friends & family think, don't tell them. Just start uploading videos and try it out. The chances of them finding your channel are so remote. Then if you don't like what you have created, delete it & none of your friends will ever know. But at least you gave it a try.

Great video, totally agree with the crabs in bucket mentality, and yes it's horrible in the UK. While I was building my online income up in the early stages, I had a toxic work colleague who'd always undermine it and send me the "it's never going to go anywhere" message. When I spoke about earning enough online to travel, he'd always steer the conversation to "are you gona get a job out there?", completely ignoring and glossing over my online income as being legit. Thankfully, I knew about the crabs in the bucket metaphor, and knew that''s exactly what he was - I often think people like that attack you because on some level, they KNOW they'll never have the ability or strength to break from the pack and do this themselves. They'll always be in wage slave jobs, with negative, closed minded thinking. So I ignored him and just kept plugging away, building up my online income, and the lockdowns actually helped with that. A couple of years later, I've been 18 months independent, spending my first winter traveling and living solely off online income, and he's stuck in the same miserable job that he hates, waiting for a redundancy payoff he's unlikely to ever be able to claim, while I've stuck to my guns, didn't listen to him, and achieved what I wanted. Karma is a bitch! So to anyone reading this starting out, don't let these negative, closed minded people (of which there are LOADS in the UK) drag you down. They're undermining you because they don't have the discipline or will to do it themselves, and NEVER will.

It is an observation that those who knock you down, deride you and openly mock are jealous of your balls to actually get off your posterior and actually DO something positive: whilst they sit and only watch KZfaq, play video games and with themselves - yes you read that - and then wonder why they have nothing and you have lived your dream. So, let them dream on...whilst you create your reality.

Watching your early vids pretty much sparked my trip to Chiang Mai, then eventually Lisbon, Italy, Spain, Argentina, loads of places. What i came to realise is the UK is very toxic, the Thais & Portuguese for example are very welcoming, supportive etc, but not only from a work perspective, there's also less piss taking like you said, less criticism etc. Always exceptions to the rule, but then i think of the amount of Brits who have left the UK, it's not a trend....it's becoming a fact, people dont want to be there to work and live.

This topic came at the right time. I was trying to make my first youtube video and every time I would press record, my mind would go blank, I would babble, or I would think I paused too long. I realized that what you say applies a bit to me. Worried too much about what others think, also the imposter syndrome. I was told most of my life not to go beyond the small scope. So this is new territory. Thank you for this video. Very enlightening and encouraging.

I've gotten tons of negativity related to doing youtube, but I've found that the haters are just being haters and it's hysterical that they want to comment on video quality or a minor oops I left in because it didn't matter... Oddly, none of them post anything of their own, they just nitpick other folks' content. Supportive folks outnumber them, you just have to not let the haters get to you.

Once there lived a village of creatures along the bottom of a great crystal river. The current of the river swept silently over them all -- young and old, rich and poor, good and evil -- the current going its own way, knowing only its own crystal self. Each creature in its own manner clung tightly to the twigs and rocks of the river bottom, for clinging was their way of life, and resisting the current was what each had learned from birth. But one creature said at last, "I am tired of clinging. Though I cannot see it with my eyes, I trust that the current knows where it is going. I shall let go, and let it take me where it will. Clinging, I shall die of boredom." The other creatures laughed and said, "Fool! Let go, and that current you worship will throw you tumbled and smashed against the rocks, and you will die quicker than boredom!" But the one heeded them not, and taking a breath did let go, and at once was tumbled and smashed by the current across the rocks. Yet in time, as the creature refused to cling again, the current lifted him free from the bottom, and he was bruised and hurt no more. And the creatures downstream, to whom he was a stranger, cried, "See a miracle! A creature like ourselves, yet he flies! See the messiah, come to save us all!" And the one carried in the current said, "I am no more messiah than you. The river delights to lift us free, if only we dare let go. Our true work is this voyage, this adventure." But they cried the more, "Savior!" all the while clinging to the rocks, and when they looked again he was gone, and they were left alone making legends of a savior. -- from Illusions by Richard Bach
