Honestly it is vital i do not get into pedals. Because i would completely fall into the rabbithole and have total gas relapsement. I have been building on playing rather than buying for some while and it was going rather well.

It's interesting, I have 3 of the same pedals on my board, the Korg Pitchblack, the MXR BEF, and the Spectra Comp (which I love btw). Your signal chain is really unique, I have the tuner first, followed by the Spectra Comp, which acts more like a buffer than a compressor. Nice vid!
@CortMarshal6 ай бұрын
I love the spectracomp! hugely underrated and can be dialed in just right without having a complicated interface. I use it on synths all the time too

Love your tone, but I do bar band dad rock, so It’s Keeley compressor into a Darkglass harmonic boost, a Greer dirty boost when needed, and a smidge of Hall of Fame chorusy reverb in the “room” setting at 15-2% at the most. The compressor and Harmonic boost already always on. The rest are as needed. Again, think Bob Seger’s back catalogue and anything you hear on the classic rock station. But if you make it to Raleigh, NC, let me know.. would love to see the show.

Great pedalboard overview, definitely agree having tuner last in the chain is the move! Also never heard of the Multimod pedal, I got FS05 which is similar but I think a red modulation pedal would look more aesthetically pleasing on my board haha.

Do you have a video on the FS05? I’ve never heard of that one lol

Ugh, your video just put me into crisis mode. I really wanna use a smaller pedalboard, but damn, I always seem to run into situations where “man, I wish I had a particular sound.”

Awesome setup 😎🤘🏻🎸 I own 2 pedalboards for my bass(one is my main pedalboard, the other is my backup). On both of them since I play metal as well as rock, I have preamp pedals(for ampless recordings, gigs, and silent practice), modulation pedals, 2 different drive pedals, a noise gate, and a tuner.
@ampthebassplayer6 ай бұрын
Nice! What’s your preamp of choice?
@alexskibicki22626 ай бұрын
@@ampthebassplayer I got a joyo tidal wave on my main pedalboard and I also got a nu-x Melvin lee Davis bass preamp pedal for my backup pedalboard. Both preamp pedals sound phenomenal. Especially with my effects. My 3rd choice for a preamp would definitely be a master effects super 800(which is based on a gk 800rb).

I use both the Spectra Comp and Spectra Drive and I have a love hate relationship with both of them. Very interested to hear what you have to say about the Spectra Comp.

I'm partial to the Darkglass compressors. I have both the original Super Symmetry and the newer Hyper Luminal and they are excellent. I actually prefer the older one but for board real estate reasons I'm using the newer one because it's smaller and I use a fairly small board. I don't know if it's Darkglass's reputation for making gear primarily used by metal bassists or what, but their comps seems very overlooked.
@ampthebassplayer6 ай бұрын
I've never tried their comps, but you have me interested!

Nice vid thanks!! Nowadays we see many bassists using or promoting the hx stomp, have you ever tried it? Any opinion on it?
@ampthebassplayer6 ай бұрын
I’ve never used anything like the HX Stomp. Closest I’ve done is the Zoom B1x Four and it’s not even close to the same thing at all. I’d love to try one out but I’m not about to drop that much money on gear I don’t need lol! Thanks for watching!

I use more pedals on bass than guitar haha, preamp overdrive/eq, fuzz, delay, chorus, probably will add a comp eventually

Great pedalboard overview, thanks for sharing. I have a DI on my board thinking of the Tech 21 SansAmp Character VT Bass DI or the Ampeg SGT-DI,What do you think of those two di pedals? Do you have experience with one of the two?
@ampthebassplayer6 ай бұрын
I’ve never tried the SGT-DI, but it sounds great from the demos I’ve heard. It’s quite a lot more expensive though.

I played a show about a year ago with Matt Freeman of Rancid's side project "Charger" and he too uses the Pork and Pickle pedal so if it's good enough for him and you, than I must purchase one myself! EDIT: Actually I might save up for the new Sansamp Xb Driver instead. It'll take the place of two or three pedals on my board lol
