I got to see Babymetal before Covid. It felt almost like a private show. It was so good. These ladies know what they’re doing. Believe it or not there isn’t a backing track at all. There was maybe 300 people as opposed to a stadium. It was soooo good! And yes, you’re correct on the coworking with members of Dragonforce in the writing of the song. Great reaction! Great reaction. This video was from January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena. Su was 17, Yui and Moa only 15 and that was over 20,000 people completely under their control. Even at that age Su just looks at the crowd, spreads her arms and the crowd opens up for a wall of death (actually several walls of death at that concert as the crowd were in sections. A journalist up in the balcony that night said he counted, I think it was, 21 mosh pits). This was also the end of a 90 minute concert and yes, they had been keeping that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time. It is what they do - they appreciate people have often paid a lot of money and travelled a long way to see them, they never give anything less than 100% for every song at every concert, whether that is one of their big arena concerts in Japan or at the many various sized venues as they tour the world. This was the official video, they actually cut that outro short by at least a couple of minutes (with drummer Hideki Aoyama and the Kami Band going at it non-stop) while the girls went to each different side of the stage to shout "We are ... BABYMETAL" with as many of the audience as they could get near to. About the song itself. 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, I'm not sure the translation really works so well to convey what it is really about, but it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow. Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version - so no, it wasn't Herman Li this time as this performance was all the Kami Band's interpretation of course ... but DragonForce and BABYMETAL did play this together at an awards show in London in 2015.

BABYMETAL's lead singer, Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto, or Su) first appeared at SSA in 2008 as a member of the J-Pop trio Karen Girl's, when she was 10 years old. She's been back many times since, headlining with BABYMETAL. BABYMETAL believe that if a song sounds too much like one genre, then it's not a BABYMETAL song. You can definitely feel the speed metal component in this one though. Guitarists that night were Takayoshi Ohmura and Leda Cygnus. The bassist was BOH, and the drummer was Hideki Aoyama. All of BABYMETAL's Kami Band members are involved in multiple music projects.

Another great reaction, thanks! This footage is from the concert "New Year Fox Festival", held on January 10th, 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena (SSA) with a sold out crowd of 20.000+ people. It was the last encore of the concert. Just imagine 90+ minutes of concert entirely performed with this level of energy. It's just epic! For this music video, they decided to keep the actual live audio (which is great!), just cutting out the majority of the "We are?? BABYMETAL" extensive outro. Herman Li and Sam Totman from Dragonforce collaborated with BABYMETAL, writing the guitar arrangements and also playing on the studio version. SU-METAL still remembers this performance and specially the part they walked on the bridge with the crowd singing along as one of her favorite moments on stage. American people also did good job in any of 20 shows during BM's 2019 US Tour. For example, you will find videos showing 17,500 audiences doing the same chanting (even much longer one) at the Forum, LA on Oct. 11, 2019. In your video, Su shouted some words at 10:25 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She shouted it rarely since then. Last year (2021), on the final day (April 15) of 10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN concerts, Su shouted the same words in the end-all of the show. She did it smilingly with matured, mild and friendly voice. It meant, I believe, "come on guys!" The audience smiled her back. I was there at the venue ヽ(^o^)丿

I love this reaction. You may not realise this but it's only a matter of time before a BABYMETAL video makes you cry. My money is on 'Arkadia', 'Shine', 'The One' or 'Karate'. It's not even because they're sad songs (although 'Shine' is usually considered to refer to a sad time in the band's history). Always go for live videos, although it's also good to see the official MVs for 'Karate' and 'Megitsune' for comparison with later performances.

There is a lot of great BABYMETAL out there for you to see. Certainly, you are free to take this journey any way you want to. However, I am suggesting that you experience BABYMETAL in a chronological order from here. Imho this is the best way for you to enjoy the evolution of this band. if you choose this route just check the performances and MV releases to start with early stuff then continue for a long and enjoyable ride down the foxhole until you arrive at current day new stuff. Don't skip it . Road of resistance is imo top 3 BM song . its from the second album . Go back to the first album and check those songs out in full. Get it all man but get it in the order it was created. My suggestion is keeping you in mind for what's best for you.

Nice reaction. I found the best place to pause a Babymetal video is after it ended. When you're digging it, who wants to stop? We get it. I didn't want you to stop either. lol. The guitarist from Dragon Force worked on the guitar parts for this song. Herman Li has said that they made the guitar part extra hard because they thought they would never have to play it. Surprise, they ended up playing this song with Babymetal. Herman Li said they practiced for a week before the show. The show was great, but the performance was for an awards show. The audience was too busy filming it really enjoy the performance. Making the audience reactions a bit lack luster. That wasn't a problem for this concert. The audience got into it from the start. At the end when they're calling out, We Are Babymetal. That was actually longer during the live show. As they went from one side of the stage to the other where they had extended stages out to the audience. Get each part of the crowd to be part of Babymetal. When they say We Are Babymetal they mean it. When you go to a Babymetal show you need to warmup those vocal cords. You will be singing. This is Babymetal doing full on Epic level. Enjoy the rest of your journey through the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music.
