The red ones give doubloons, it's the yellow ones that give 10k. Understandable mistake for newbies. Don't feel bad, it seemed like you had fun along the way, and that's what really matters. I can help you rep up and learn the game if you want, ive been playing for thousands of hours and you seem pretty chill. New players are always the funniest to play with.

@@CaptainRolfey there's also a few other types of red icons, if u see no beam in the sky from a reapers chest u know it's a fort key. Like one for a fort of fortune or regular skelly fort 👍

There are two types of reaper chest, the first is the kind you sold which sell for doubloons & rep, and the second kind will have a gold lid and a brighter/more gold-white beam which sells for 10k(25k if you have a lvl 5 emissary), plus rep👍

I see a lot of people saying you can exchange doubloons for gold. You should however never do this since they can be spent on event items, really cool cosmetics and rare voyages!

Yeah personally I’ve found the currency exchange for doubloons to gold to not be worth it. I’d much rather save them for other things like cool cosmetics as you said

You know, you can trade in the blue coins (doubloons) for gold at an npc called Larinna. She stays outside of taverns. She also gives a ton of good quests and other things you can buy from her. And if there is a special event that needs you to purchase quests or what not, she will most likely have them. Edit: It’s 25 doubloons for 2500 gold, 35 for 5000, 50 for 10000.

Their is actually another special chest but you can only find it in the ashen winds area and it is very rare and you can sell it to the reapers I belive

Yeah, there are "Reaper Chests" and "Reapers Bounty" the chest gives 10 doubloons, and the Bounty gives 10K, the chests are marked with a colorful spiral in the sky, the Bounties are marked with a golden spiral.

You can use an emissary flag, a high reputation, and charge up the chest to get more out of it.

Sounds like he got them mixed up. It’s the yellow Reaper’s bounty that gives you the gold. Btw did you know that the reaper chests can tell you roughly how many crews there are on the server? If areaper chest spawns, there are at least 3 crews including yours. If none spawn then there’s only two crews max. Also not sure about this but from what I’ve heard reaper bounties are likely to spawn if the server is full given the value of it.

Great thing now is you can see the chest moving across the map and infront of you since the beam moves with the chest now. Makes for easier steals

You're looking for the reapers bounty. Marked by a gold icon. The red chest is just dubloons. However, 50 dubloons can be traded for 10k gold!

50 of those doubloons are worth 10k coins from Larrina outside any outpost tavern, would save them for cummunity day like most others for the multiplier tho, you get 25k for each 50 doubloons, GL!

Because that’s the wrong chest there’s the reaper bounty and then there’s the reaper chest the reaper chess gives you 10 doubloons. The reaper bounty gives you 10 K gold.

In retrospect, I think getting doubloons might be better cause there's way more cooler stuff locked behind them, but starting out gold is better for sure
