Hey there! I am training calisthenics for about a year now and after learning the "muscle-up to jump-over-the-bar" into another muscle-up, my next goal was to achieve the muscle-up to jump-on-the-bar. Even though i should have the strength and flexibilty, I never managed to finally achieve it. After watching your video I realized, that the biggest obstacle in my way is my fear. So i went to training and tried to balance on a bar first. Step up and just try to stand on it and hold the balance. After I felt comfortable, I went on to a bar with a hight of about 1,20m and after a few attemps I was finally able to get on it! I was so happy, unbelievable. Driven with enthusiam and happiness I wanted to try it from a muscle-up and - guess what - I injured myself the same way like you did. My left foot didn´t make it up, I slipped and hit the bar with my shin. Was painfull but not as bad as in your case. Nevertheless, I just wanted to say thank you! Because of you I found the courage to overcome my fear and try it harder. Keep on working, really like your videos! Best regards =)

The same thing happened to me on both legs on different tries while trying to execute the same move. I got scars on both my legs from those attempts. U should only do it if u feel completely recovered, when i got hurt was on the end of a push workout, when i had little to no strength left. I dont think the move is that risky, but when ur out of strenght or tired the risk involved is much higher. Hope u recover soon! Love your vids! Stay safe!

@@GeekClimber You can watch Chris Heria tutorial. It was very detailed one. But you need at least 10 clean muscle ups before you even start with it. Please be careful, this thing is dangerous and you may end in a wheelchair. I think 3 successful attempts on the low bar are not enough. You probably need at least 30 consequitive successful attempts on the low bar before attempting the high bar. It's a very good idea to consult with a coach before trying such dangerous moves. May be you can try learning 360 pullup, 360 muscle up, etc.
@millacabral9475
@millacabral9475 3 жыл бұрын
@@user-fp7qg8hm1k Idk man, the 360 moves can actually be more dangerous, especially for someone who isn't used to dynamic exercises like Geek Climber. If you underrotate you can land sideways and really mess up your ankles, I've seen it happen to a lot of gymnasts. They can either roll their ankle, bash their toes, land on straight legs, or tear something in their knee, because the body keeps turning while the feet get stuck on the ground. The shin injury is probably not too bad if he could walk out of there, and with the crash pad it's not that dangerous, it seems.

when i was learning thois move I was pretty comfy with it already, but one time overestimated myself (probably because it was and of my training session, but I thought I still have energy left for some trying) and my hip wasnt high enogh but I still wanted to bring the legs to the bar without having to tuck them too much (because that way you cant stand up just as you mentioned) so I release the bar, the middle of my shins hit the bar and that crash took away all my momentum so I fall backwards to the ground... I don't remember what hurt more, hitting both your shins to a steel bar , or falling to your back from a height... Luckly I got away with the purple/green/blue/red shins and with some pain in the shins while walking for a week or two but needles to say the progress I made with the move just got erased by fear, so it took a whole bunch of time to get to the same comfort level with the move that I used to have.

It helps a lot to learn flick ups (pop ups) first on a wall and then a fence. Oh yeah also you can learn cast ups to get onto a bar even before you start learning muscle ups and you can do it without swinging into it. 2:52 You can always just learn the drop besides using the crash pad. Ok but you could still decide what you want to learn and have Daniel teach you. I mean like it helps a lot to be able to stand on the bar to have the move completed all the way. I literally just started learning flick ups and climb ups from Parkour Journeys's tutorial, and eventually I managed to do a hack muscle up and started learning cast ups soon afterwards. Just be careful about it and know what you're doing, plus do the progressions.

Well if you want a clean muscle up, I’d suggest focusing on doing pull-ups with the intent of pulling as high as you can. Keep the reps low so you can pull with maximum power each rep. For kipping muscle ups, the key is in the hip pop

If you don't mind me asking, have you been able to climb in the last while? (I realize pandemic & injuries have likely made it difficult to). The reason why I'm asking is because I'm really interested in knowing if you feel like your calesthenics work has translated to your climbing, some less or mores so than others, etc. I know some stuff was pretty dedicated for climbing, such as the deadlifts, but I'm pretty curious about some of the others as well. (Sorry if you have mentioned it before & I'm just missing it!). Regardless, it's cool to see you working on all sorts of things - whether the intention is for climbing related stuff or just for fun, it's always nice to see the progression of X. I also like the fact that you break down what you did, what went wrong, and the input from more experienced/professional individuals! I think it's a great approach when it comes to learning anything new. Thanks as always for the vids. Cheers.
