Next time you guys try this, drap the whole silicone mat over the bin, mat side down obviously. And if you need to stretch it again, use your heat gun to help heat it up a little to make it more ply-able!

The pulling left a really cool effect. Maybe you can make another one for Nicole but roll it around the bin and fold it closed at the bottom instead, maybe pull it up to make the feet too. Might give a cool look.

To me it looked like a galaxy filled sky as well. Consider doing the same thing... but inbed a string of fairy lights, and frame it.

should try a drip Bin next. take the bin upsidedown mix up a bunch of resin, let it partialy set and pour it on the bottom letting it drip down the sides of the bin. This should get better. The resin will need to be pretty thick so it doesn't just run off the bin.

You're so brave to try this crazy stuff! It's so much fun to watch! Now you have to make another one for Nicole's craft room. What if you made small puddles of resin and then overlapped them on the bin when they were ready to peel? Thanks for the fun and giggles!

Maybe start with a solid cylinder, say from a small pot plant. Then turning on the lathe, and finishing with a boring bar for the inside.

Hi, that was fun. Omg the flew watching. It turned out great. Maybe a glue gun dam around the edge of your mat might help if you make another bin or flower pot. The colours are so beautiful. Have a great weekend 😀.

Had to watch the stretch twice so good. Amazing the resin kept its shine after all the pulling and tugging, I want do that now. You'll have to put the bin were the sun shines , will look awesome. Thank you good video 👍 just thought my neighbours must hear me laugh the same time every Saturday morning around 1am lol 😂

You could use a large round mold, like a table or platter mold and pour it, let it set a as bit and then pull it from the mold and drape it over a plastic bin or bowl to shape and dry. The resin shouldn’t stick to plastics so you can just squeeze the plastic to pop the object off. You can do it on the inside of bowls too.

Looks good. I wonder if you start out by having the bin upside down and pour the resin directly on the bin and let it drip down the sides. Just make sure you spray the bin with release spray. 😂

Since you both wanted it in your own space, you could make another one. Maybe there are things you've learned from this one that you could change in your technique for the next one...

The point in the middle reminds me of that rubber stuff you put on the end of a straw and blow bubbles with. Would resin work the same way if you had a ball of almost cured resin and maybe blow bubbles with it?

It might have worked better to tune the whole thing (silicone matt included) over the bin. That way, you wouldn't have the issue of it not being set enough. Will check back at the end to see.... Edit: it worked in the end....but it still could have transferred from flat to bin on the matt better than taking it off the matt when it was still soft.

Next time leave it on the mat and just pick up the whole mat and drape it over the bin. And when it’s set you can just remove the bin from the mat.
