As a gm lucio main this was a great video to watch. Things I thought were good was beat usage, staying alive and peeling for teammates. The major thing to improve on is using speed and trusting that speed is a valuable tool for your team. Honestly should be on speed 70% of the time only use heals for prefight poke dmg, Amping heals to save critical teammates, self heal and poke fight dmg. The issue with speed is without communication speed and especially speed amp can feel weak but as you climb that will improve. Another thing as lucio is you need to rely on your other support to do most the healing which can be hard in lower ranks to ask someone to basically solo heal but that again improves with rank. That also means you need to keep your other support alive at all costs cause if they die you most likely lose the team fight. I could write a book about lucio lol but I will stop rambling. The last thing I recommend is learning a main healer like Ana or bap or play on defense or when your team requires more heals.

I actually think one of the biggest problems is bad boops, he seems to just be using it as a source of damage more than anything else. Boop should be used way more as a defensive tool to create some space between your team and the enemies that want to get close range (something I also noticed was that you booped the charging Rein head on, you always want to sidestep and then boop him to ensure that he hits the walls or at least away from your team so he can't redirect his charge) If you want to use it offensively you need to combo it with your shots and melee otherwise you are actually saving the squishy targets by booping them away. (for example, boop into air, then shoot, melee. or shoot, melee, boop)

As a gold support main, this Lucio player has better movement and soundbeat usages as me, but it's the speed boost usages that set us apart. Granted I don't really play Lucio, so I mostly play ground Lucio speed boosting my team. Once he learn when to use speed boost to benefit his team, he will definitely climb higher than me. But until he learn to coordinate his speed boost with his team, he will stay in silver.

Lucio needs to be more aggressive when playing with mercy, it’s not the best comp for heals, but her rez, and instant healing plus mobility gives you the ability to go dps more and play on your tanks and flanking dps. Don’t be a heal bit groundcio especially with a mercy

While you have a lot of offensive utility it is still up to your team to be aggressive and a lot of the time your team will see Mercy/Lucio and will play more passively because there is less healing. As someone who Mains Lucio and Mercy I think the most efficent to play them together is a poke style initially because you have the rez and damage boost and once your team get a pick then you speed boost in and be aggressive using your numbers advantage. If you go all out aggression from the start it is very "all or nothing" and the Mercy will find it very hard to get a rez off in an aggressive position which is why it is better to play for picks first so she can always get a safe rez.

but the reason why mercy and lucio doesnt work its bc one of them needs to healbot more, and both them get more value from dmg boost and speed boost, not healing. if lucio is being agressive, there is less chance that the team can follow up with that agression bc they dont have enough healing. then, is better to just poke dmg, and when u got picks, u can be more agressive. or, if is not working at all, is better to one of them swap off mercy or lucio.

As a slightly higher but still pretty decent Lucio I’m Plat 2, I’d recommend on defense, if you’re ever close to a widow and she has no clue where you are and your team is okay, you should finish her since you have the most mobility

I'm a silver Lucio main, but I have been in plat 5(during summer break). I have played in high plat lobbies. I'm just in silver because I don't play much. I'd say I am at least gold 2, in terms of gameplay and gamesense. I usually get 60-70% speed usage.

@@GirusBetterThanVirus my rule of thumb on Lucio is if there tank isn’t good for your synergy, look for a dps you can pocket as a mini tank, or that can utilize speed. If there’s not a dps either (your team is playing snipers or flyers), and you don’t trust your Reddit dps Lucio skills to get picks and stay alive, you got two options. If it’s a payload map, heal on cart, speed boost out to cart, and dove with team for advantage. If you’re not on a good payload Lucio map or boop map like most control points, I recommend swapping brig for slightly more use. It can be hard to force Lucio in the higher ranks if you can’t respectfully be near a one man army. Lucio other than like a 0-12 widow are the easiest characters to get mad at in a game

I'm two minutes in and the fact this Lucio hasn't once considered their positioning despite there being a Bastion and more importantly, a Widow is concerning me a bit. They've been hard focused on the Rein, trying to boop him in and while that isn't the worst idea, I wouldn't make that the sole focus, especially on a sniper map

as Lucio you really needa save your amps as a form of a burst heal the passive regen is enough sustain if the fight isnt a full on engagement and use your speed whenever you know you can run down an elim or even just feel out your tank and pop it to give him some confidence when he’s obviously thinking about swinging an angle. the visible confidence boost you give a Rein when he has some speed is very obvious. and even defensively speed boost can help your teammates get out of a bad position and back to the team or even to run away from burst damage like Ram or a Bastion Turret. Lucio is honestly still S tier in my opinion even in this Meta if you can mix a Reddit Lucio with an Enabler Lucio you have a huge advantage a good lucio can honestly be a 3rd DPS if your nice with it and dive with your teammates accordingly you can finish most elims that try to run away yourself and have enough mobility to get back to your team.

I also submitted a silver lucio vod. I mean a silver lucio in a plat lobby and I noticed that with better teammates you could afford to use speed more. I claimed silver to be the hardest place for a support and that's because people can't use cover, your other support is a dedicated mercy onetrick and people don't even utilize the speed when they have it(u can't speed people out because they hold w). That plat lobby with good players was still my favourite game I've ever played because I could afford to speedboost.

I can tell you that in our lower rank lobbies nobody plays covers, the other support is an avocado and if you try to speed your teammates out they stay, die and complain about heals. I don't like the heal bot playstyle either

Diamond 2 Lucio here. By no accounts a pro but here are some tips anyway. Try just loading up a private server and move around as quick as you can. Movement is Lucios strong point. Minimize the time you use on the ground. By chaining wallrides you can gain some insane speed, making it very hard to hit you. Another thing, if you’re not actively healing yourself or somebody else, and not in a teamfight, you should have your speedboost on. It is his strongest ability by far. Not only is it great value for your team, but can also allow you to get some easy picks on low hp dps such as Widow, Tracer etc. Also use it to get away from tough situations. Lucio has some of the best survivability in the game, especially if you time your amp and sb/hb right. Try to get away if you have lost the teamfight. It’s not uncommon for me to end a game with 1 or 2 deaths. Sometimes when trying to get away at low health, it’s smarter to use speed boost to get away quickly, than to try and heal yourself. Another thing Lucio is good at is position punishment, try to boop the tank past the choke point or otherwise away from their team (especially if they are retreating to heal up). This also works on dps, boop a widow down from high ground and into the teamfight and she stands little chance of making it. Lastly, reserve your amp. It is a very powerful ability that can ALMOST make you or a teammate invincible for a short duration. It can almost instantly heal your whole team back up to full hp. Oh another thing; use your ult OFTEN, don’t wait for the right opportunity, you can get 1 or 2 or maybe 3 more ults during a game by using them quickly. Try speeding your team into a chokepoint or teamfight while you use it. Instant teamfight win.

The key here more than anything else is the support more than any other team member always has to be facilitating their team mates plays not making plays themselves. I find that the plays that I make that matter are almost always made in the process of making it possible for my team mates to make bigger and more crucial plays.

This guy had good movement and lowkey godly beats. But they really need to learn to crossfade better. It's not a set and forget thing. You really need to be thinking on a second to second basis about what mode you're in and when to switch. I very rarely stay in one mode for more than a few seconds at a time. I also noticed that they don't contribute very much spam damage during poke phases. Lucio is sort of like the junkrat of supports in that in a lot of cases, you really should just be spamming into the team fight. Those little hits add up, and can make the difference between picks and escapes. Other than that they were pretty good!

lucio is one of the chars that show off some of the biggest visual diff between good and bad players . just like tracer and genji . you can have a average rein or ram but you cant have a average lucio or genji for example , they are either real good or completely useless .. in my games (low m) lucio is terrifying for example , actual bully . while this guy here is adorable ^^

To Lower Rank Lucio players: Always ask yourself, why am I choosing Lucio this round? If you do not have at least 2 very good answers for that then play any other support. Lucio is an active play style that requires that you use your enhanced movement to create distractions, and set-up plays, or make the plays yourself. IF you are not doing these things then your team will be served a very large amount more by any other support you play.

lucio is a terrible support to try and climb with because you can try and enable your team all day and they don't do anything with the speed, and the healing and damage isn't enough for a team that doesn't take cover and takes too much damage just use Baptiste until you're in gold

Might be a stupid question, but when he says: “you need to remember speed boost helps your team mates too!” What does he mean?? I know that obviously speed boost is AOE like the healing and can help give them movement speed, but why in SOME engagements is it better to be speed boosting than healing?? Like it’s all well and good saying “speed boost right now!!! You can speed boost your team, not just yourself!” (As if it isn’t obvious that speed boost is AOE) but it would be more helpful in future to point out *why* he should be speed boosting? Bc in my experience I rarely have situations as a DPS main where I would rather my Lucio speed boosting me rather than healing me. I personally would always prefer my Lucio to be stuck on healing, as I don’t feel like the extra movement speed is actually very good? Like does it boost attack speed and reload speed? Or is it just movement speed? The only time I can imagine speed boost being useful is to get out of spawn and maybe to chase down a fleeing support character, other than that, in any engagement I personally would always rather my Lucio to heal

let me first start by saying that just because you as a dps might want to be healed at any given moment doesn't mean that you being healed is the optimal decision for the support player. I don't say this to be mean or anything. I'm not a Lucio expert but I will do my best to answer your question. if I don't explain something well, please feel free to ask for more clarification! let me start with using Rein as an example of a teammate who benefits from speed boost a LOT. Rein himself isn't very fast unless he uses charge, and he's a very short range character. aside from fire strike, he's all melee. so Reinhardt needs to get close in order to be useful. in order to get close, Rein has to use his shield and cover in order to close the distance between himself and the enemy team. however, if they have a Lucio who uses speed boost, Rein has to spend less of his shield just walking to the fight. Rein's shield is a very important resource that doesn't charge super fast, so anything that lets Rein save some shield is going to be massive. with speed boost helping him close the distance, Rein spends less time closing the distance and more time actually doing stuff and actually building ult charge. just by using speed boost, a Lucio can dramatically increase Rein's uptime and individual impact. speed boost is strong because it lets you and your team play aggressively because you can get in fast AND get out fast. it lets you chase stragglers. it can also save your team's lives if you speed boost them away from ults (mei ult was an example in the video). if you speed boost your team into the fight, you become the aggressor and you deny the enemy team valuable seconds that they might use to decide how to deal with your team. here are just a few examples that immediately come to mind of times when you, as a DPS player, want to be speed boosted and not healed by your Lucio: 1. Soldier using visor. a speed boosted sprinting soldier is faster than a sprinting soldier. faster = you can push past enemy defenses and kill them before your ult is over 2. Cassidy using high noon 3. If you are being attacked and need to disengage to safety (Lucio's healing is very low and won't be able to save you in 99 999% of situations when you're under pressure) 4. any time you're playing a short range hero like Reaper like I said, I'm not a Lucio expert so anyone with more than approximately 5hrs on the hero would be able to give you tons of examples. but something that is important to come back to is the idea that the role is called support, not healer. healing is one of the tools that supports have in their kits to help the team win the fight. healing is not inherently the best tool in a given situation, and sometimes, healing instead of using utility can actually be feeding. also, to answer another one of your questions, it's movement speed. I don't know the exact speed increase off the top of my head. amp'd speed boost is very fast, it's not as fast as kitsune rush but it's very fast.

I think the reason they’re silver across the board is the terrible aim tbh just couldn’t hit anything and let’s the low health enemies get away, especially when queuing solo that’s huge when trying to climb rank. Plus if you’re thinking you should be higher rank than everyone else in the match then you should be out there winning 1v1s all day.

Yeah I don't know how they think they are heal and speed boosting when needed when they constantly amp heals just because they feel like pressing a button. And I feel emongg is a bit too nice saying their movement is good, like sure it's not bad, but they aren't going anywhere or taking any good positioning with said good movement. They are just sitting on the point or with the team amping heals every chance they get. With such a passive playstyle they would be better off playing any other support than lucio.
