Yeah these players are awful to play with. Most of the time they play very selfishly and then blame others for their mistakes.

It does seem that Emongg is more likely to review vods where the submitter does act like a prick.

I only ever teabag my own team, and only when I'm on support. It's a very specific situation. Like the other day my Cassidy died right at the end of a fight and I don't remember how, maybe he burned or got hit by a final Pharah rocket right as she died or something but I went "Oh no! Not jigbugs!" (or whatever their name was) Then ran up to their dead body and just "unh, unh, unh, unh"

I tend to avoid the bag unless 1 they bagged me first. Or like if a genji tries to solo blade me as Ana after basically throwing the game to camp me and dive me. Also bums who swap to sombra after getting headshot by widow once. Then try and spawn camp me.

Yeah, if he was that much better to belong in Master, he would've made it there already with enough matches played. The one constant each game is us, simple as that. If I stay in my rank and never get out, I know it's very likely that the reason is looking at me in the mirror. I think people like this soldier would achieve more to get to their desired rank if they just used their time to educate themselves on how to play and which mistakes they're making instead of sending in a VOD hoping that a streamer tells them they are a God at the game and deserve more than plat.

i think maybe if they played really smart they could masters with this aim but yeah itd be a struggle. The first thing this guy needs to fix though is his positioning. Like this guy thinks hes playing reaper or mei or something.

SR is linked closer to play time and emotional intelligence than it is to actual skill. Skill is a factor, but it's weighted so low that if you want to rank up, all you have to do is play more. Playtime = Investor profit = money. This game is a ranked slot machine, no amount of skill involved with pulling the level is going to game the outcome. Also this guy's vod analysis is quite poor, he's more interested in dunking on this 76 player than he is being constructive, the raw reality is that the 76 player is right, he could actually fit right into Master's, there's nothing he's really doing wrong, he's significantly better than his team is.@@EnergizingBane

Yep, been playing with the matchmaker a bit to see how it works, and actual skill is a very low rated metric. What separates M1 from GM1 is raw skill, but anything Master's and below has very little to do with skill. That's why you get so many 1 trick Mercy players in GM, they aren't skilled enough to be there, but they are polite enough.

i know we like to meme that the metal ranks are all the same, but it's just objectively untrue. I climbed from gold 1 to diamond 3 this past season and the differences within plat alone are very stark. there's a huge difference between how low plat plays vs high plat vs anything in gold. I agree with your point that attitude and blaming others is a huge problem, 100%, but arguing that the difference between silver and plat is mostly aim is just silly.

imo, most people do. however, I actually do find the ego ones helpful because it demonstrates just how nonsense having an ego is. that's helpful to me because we all get frustrated and we all have moments where we're like "I played my HEART out but noticed my teammates make so many mistakes" and it can be so fucking tempting to fall into that rabbit hole of blaming others, even if you're not the type of person who ROUTINELY blames others. hopefully the way emongg deals with the egotistical ones helps them grow but I enjoy them because they are humbling for me and help me further develop my critical lens for reviewing my own mistakes. so while I wouldn't enjoy it if the WHOLE series was just a spotlight on egotistical brats who blame everyone but themselves, I think having the brats sometimes can be instructive. but it is also important to reiterate that the majority of people, at least recently, seem to be earnest and submitting in good faith when they are submitting for help. there are also submissions that are mostly just "this game was fucking wild y'all" which are fun too also! games where you get steamrolled and lose badly can sometimes be the most helpful learning tools because they expose your worst mistakes and the areas where you need the most growth. close games are better tools for learning your most consistent mistakes, imo. both are helpful! both definitely have their place. but as someone who regularly binges emonggs spectating videos, bingos and all, I don't think it's fair at all to say MOST vods are one way or another. I'm not convinced it's an objective statement that reflects the actual videos. it seems much more like a subjective impression.

Traditionally "they" is plural but if you dont know the gender of someone, sometimes you might use they because you cant exactly use he or she in that situation (although its probably safe to assume this soldier is a guy).

stats dont matter (except for winrate), idk what elo you are but im masters on dps and tank this season and if I played in your games I would easily be able to win like 80-90% of them maybe more if youre silver or something Also if elo hell exists how do you explain unranked to gms? I'm also excited by the change, but that is not an example at all. He shot the hog at first for some secs (he was in front of her) and then the Genji put himself in front of her while deflecting. The soldier only attacked the Moira some secs before she woke up which would not be enough to kill.

I think we all have games where we play with a lot of stinkers but that also show we have a lot of room to improve. both things can be true - this could have just been a stinker of a game AND this person has a lot to work on. neither statement contradicts or undermines the other. focusing too much on the stinkers you play with occasionally is also a trap. it literally doesn't matter in the long term because you're unlikely to play with them again. so what if they were right about THIS game? it doesn't mean their ego and blaming others in all of their other games is justified or okay or conducive to growth.
