LEARN HOW TO MAKE A QUICK SPAGHETTI CHOW MEIN NOODLES RECIPE TODAY!
LAY HO MA (how's it going in Cantonese)! It's a casual day today so why not whip up a fusion that nobody asked for. This delicious recipe is where chewy spaghetti noodles make friends with fresh veggies and an incredibly savoury and umami packed stir fry sauce. Join me in this episode and learn how to make a spaghetti chow mein recipe!
Ingredients:
2 pieces garlic
small piece ginger
2 sticks green onions
1/2 red onion
50g broccolini
1/4 red bell pepper
140g spaghetti
1/2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp dark soy sauce
1 tbsp plantbased oyster sauce
1 tsp toasted sesame oil
1 tbsp chili oil ( • Most addictive Red Chi... )
1 tsp white sesame seeds
Directions:
1. Bring a pot of water to boil for the noodles
2. Finely chop the garlic and ginger. Chop the green onions into bite sized batons and slice the red onion. Chop the broccolini into bite sized pieces and thinly slice the red bell pepper
3. Boil the spaghetti for about 1min less to package instructions. Remember to stir occasionally
4. Make the stir fry sauce by stirring together the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, plantbased oyster sauce, toasted sesame oil, and chili oil
5. Strain out the spaghetti and toss with a splash of toasted sesame oil
6. Heat up a nonstick pan to medium heat. Add the chili oil followed by the red onions, garlic, ginger, and green onions. Sauté for about 2min
7. Add the broccolini and red bell peppers. Sauté for about 3min. Add the spaghetti and stir fry sauce. Sauté for another 2min
8. Plate the noodles and sprinkle on some white sesame seeds

For anyone considering buying the cookbooks: would highly recommend it! I made so many of these KZfaq dishes and they were all great. I have a full pantry of all these Asian products now. Thought it was about time to actually buy the books. Did not regret it. So many great dishes and the books are beautiful as well. Wil, please keep making awesome plates of food for us. Thank you so much 🫶

Oh my, this brings back memories. I'm half Japanese and grew up on military bases, so mom always made yakisoba out of a dried Chinese noodle that is kind of like soba noodles, and Bulldog brand tonkatsu sauce, because that's the closest you could get to the regular ingredients on an American military base. (plus the usual meat & veggies, of course). When dad was stationed in Germany in the late 70s/early 80s, we met a Japanese violinist living in Germany playing in a German orchestra who told us that he made yakisoba from spaghetti and A1 brand steak sauce. FYI, in my opinion, yakisoba is best made on a flat-top griddle rather than a wok. Put the noodles in first and leave them undisturbed on the heat to get a bit of Maillard crust on the noodles. To anyone wanting to experiment with fusion dishes, keep in mind that Italians put the salt in the water, but Asians tend to put the salt in the noodles. If you salt the water and cook Asian noodles, you'll end up with something too salty. Always read the package instructions when cooking with an unfamiliar noodle.

This is really close to my usual noodle stir fry! I usually cook the noodles for two minutes less than the package calls for, and it is amazing how they soak up the sauce and make up for the fact that I usually can’t find any food noodles in my rural location. Love your channel!

That looks so fresh and tasty! I would probably cook the capsicum and other veggies a little darker because I love the brown/slightly burnt crispy flavour it gives but I think most would prefer it just the way you made it. Really seems like a fantastic combination of simple flavours that would make for a perfect balanced noodle meal and I really wanna try this one day 😃 Thanks for the video, I like the way you explain everything in detail, especially without talking way to fast or aggressively like I often see, but instead in a calm tone of voice, it really makes it much easier to absorb and enjoy everything 👍

I actually did this recipe tonight with a bit of a twist to it. I took Bob's Red Mill TVP crumbles and added it to some broccoli and peppers that I was stir frying. I stir fried it all in a little bit of butter with some garlic, scallions, red pepper flakes, and added a mixture of vegetable broth paste, mushroom oyster sauce, soy sauce, and a bit of the cooking liquid from the whole grain spaghetti that I used. Tossed it all together and it made a really nice sauce. Reminds me of some of the local ground pork noodle dishes. Added a little bit of fresh cilantro at the end and it was perfect.

After following you for quite some time, I finally took the time to read the description of the video. Now I can explain (to myself) why I am so drawn to your work: it is because of your background in the visual arts. The aesthetic of your products, including the videos, is very appealing. I always watch the videos multiple times. Once for the overall feel of the video, the camera angles etc, second for the recipe, and third for the products. Do I sound creepy yet? Lol

I literally swapped all my noodles with pasta spaghetti or linguine. I have used noodles only a few times when cooking at home, and I have been eating Asian dished for years. In take away everything would be served with noodles, of course. Pasta is much easier to find and stockpile. It is delicious and there are no changes required in the recipes ;)
@pavel9652
@pavel9652 2 жыл бұрын
I am glad some people found the comment useful! ;) Just to reiterate, use linguine which is a noodle-like type of pasta. From distance, it looks like spaghetti and is packed the same way, but it is flattened and reassembles noodles upon closer inspection ;) I find it better than spaghetti, especially for Asian dishes. In the shop where I buy food there are occasional pasta shortages (in Europe), so stockpile if you can. I could buy noodles but while there are entire shelves of pasta, there are usually only a handful of noodles available and they are more expensive. So for me, this is a matter of availability and logistics. Live long and prosper! ;)

I exchanged the noodles with crispy oven fried sweet potatos and add cabbage instead of broccoli (had to use what’s available 😅) Despite of all changes it turned freaking delicious 😍❤ The sauce is everything 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻

At one point in history long ago, Chinese noodles met an east-bound Italian adventurer who got inspired by the encounter and brought the noodles back to Italy. The rest is history. This video reunites these two vastly different cultures. Ok, I’m sure if the my mentioned history is true. I just wanted to sound dramatic here.

Love this recipe. Delicious. Broccolini has become my favorite veggie. Made the chili oil, use it for every dish, including breakfast.
