Is "grow the game" still really a thing? Are there that many people that still need to discover hockey? Not attacking you, just asking. I hear "grow the game" quite often, and I always wonder what they really mean by that. It's in nearly every viable market and the Cup has been won in every corner of N/A. Do they want hockey in Brazil? Africa? Where is it supposed to "grow"? Or do they really mean attracting higher orders of sponsorship so the millionaires can rake in even more?

True. My pre cup prediction is FLA in 6. VGK has shown lots of resiliency in these playoffs and feeling unfazed when things haven't worked out for them, but FLA just seems like a team of destiny this year and I really don't think they'll be denied, especially if Bob and Tkachuk keep playing the way they have .

Great breakdown, the biggest story by far IMO is Marchessault and Smith getting stolen by /given to the Knights and it is just now that the Panthers have come full circle and recovered from that whole mess. So of course it is them that stands in the way.

Hyped to see this final. It should be insanely good! This Canadian is rooting for the Cats to finally get their cup after all these years. I'm not sure how common of a complaint it is that "well it's not a Canadian team so I don't care" but, if it helps, remember that both teams are stacked with insanely talented Canadians. Doesn't really matter where they are playing. If you enjoy hockey, you should enjoy this final.

Yesterday I had this guy respond to a comment I wrote saying I'm a Leaf fan but was looking forward to the final even though I wasn't a fan of either team, and he said that I "hate good hockey" since I'm a Leaf fan. I was like stfu, I told you I was looking forward to the final, what does me being a Leaf fan Have to do with anything. As disappointing as it is not to see any of my teams play for the cup, I've watched every game in the conference finals and I know that this years final will be one for the ages! Grampa here. Couldn't agree more! The fact Vegas is only in their 4th season or so and is already going for a Cup while Toronto is still trying to get back there after nearly 70 years is fantastic. Florida has written its own story. To be the best you have to beat the best, and Florida have one last giant to slay. It's David vs Goliath and all of Goliath's family. I can't wait.

The Golden Knights are a unique story. Their FIRST YEAR they went all the way to the finals. I became a fan right away mainly 'cuz I get Vegas radio and listen all day, though they don't cover hockey there. LV is no longer just gambling. There's lots of money there and they've got two first rate sports franchises [the other one is the WNBA defending champ Aces] . I suspect the Knights want to finish the job this time, though Florida is formidable.

I cheer for teams that haven't won the cup for karmic reasons, though some of the most boneheaded moves by the Canucks have put me off. Messier as captain, that kinda sealed the deal. Have given up on them since.

Hill can get better metrics against lesser rated teams? Mission accomplished. Dallas (6 games) wasn't really playing all that well against Vegas. Witness the two shutouts. Seriously, an NHL hockey team should score once. 4-0 and 6-0 showed how flawed Dallas was. Oilers (6) folded for some unknown reason (my pick for the Cup Final). McEverything couldn't get it together and Drysaddle could only score on PP's. Go figure.

Its been a few years since I watched the finals, but this year is different. I dont even care about the teams but they are both playing out of their minds and deserved it and beat a bunch of big dogs. Love seeing underdogs get hot, and think this will be a great finals. Glad one of them will win, but I think i'm rooting for the cats and BOB.

A little back history into VGK. Our first Real team rallied behind us after Oct,1. Then, went on to go into the Stanley Cup playoffs, that year. They were the beacon we needed. And, win or lose, We LOVE VGK!

The blues going from last in the league half way thru the season then winning the cup is still the most bizarre run I’ve ever seen. This really isn’t surprising. Vegas is a huge market by todays standards even with being a new team and we are pretending like Florida hasn’t been competitive for years now? It’s not the early 2000’s anymore…. Both of these teams are stacked and I’m not surprised at all.

Love it. Great video and a solid take on why this matchup is great for the sport. Of course, lots of people aren't happy about the teams that are in it, but as fans of the sport, we should all be happy to see two teams you would never have thought could even exist are in the finals and, honestly, deserve to be there. I think it's going to be a great series. Both games these teams played against one another this season were tight and aggressive and I expect even more intensity considering what's on the line.

My team lost in the first round (LA), but first and foremost, I'm a fan of the game, and a true fan of the game watches the playoffs and Stanley Cup finals, no matter what team plays. I've followed each Cup final since I was old enough to follow this sport, and I'm happy for both Florida and Vegas, and both teams deserve to be there. I was stoked when LA won it's first cup in 2012, and one of these final 2 teams will win its first Cup, ever-which is great for the NHL. It's a team with unbeatable momentum and a goalie playing out of his mind vs. a team with depth and veteran experience, and both are well coached. May the best team win!

I guess what I don't like about Vegas or Seattle is they got to cherry pick talent from the beginning to already be on the upper tier of good in the league. 2 cup appearances in 5 years for Vegas and a deep West playoffs run for the Kraken on year 2. Sure, they played within the rules established for expansion teams but clearly we can see that it is heavily favored towards the new teams compared to the rest of the existing teams. There's no rebuilding grind, there's no cap struggles. As a fan of the league, I just find how expansion teams pick their roster to be imbalanced and this is the result we see. With that said, I'd like to see the Panthers win it all!

Which they then later pieced out their talent in trades to be where they are now. Kudos to the management and coaching and players, as it is a tough league to win and be consistently good in. I'm just saying there's an imbalance in stacking the roster for expansion teams early on. They still have to score the goals and win games. Yes, 6 years. 3 division Champs, 2 conference champs, and a pending cup. That's wild compared to looking at other much older established teams. And it isn't a fluke when you see the Kraken show out to mid playoffs year 2. Clearly there's an advantage.

You forgot to mention Eichel and Reinhart used to be teammates in Buffalo. Marchassult used to be on the Panthers before the expansion draft and then he made comments to insult the organization. So, it would defiently would be cool to get revenge on him.

a little sidenote.... Eichel and Reinhart were the core pieces in Buffalo a few years ago when they decided it wasnt working and Reinhart went to Florida, Eichel to Vegas. Now they are going head to head 2.5 years later for the Cup.

As an Avs fan, I will of course always remember that the Avs won their first cup playing against the Panthers in the finals. I will always have a soft spot for this Florida team, I like them and cheer for them. Especially heartwarming is that they are 8th seed underdogs. Wish you guys a great series

Tbh I have NO IDEA what to expect! I mean I cheer for Panthers because they're the Underdogs, but Vegas record is impressive. They just have a few years in the big league and have been going far in the playoffs at least twice, which is insane when you think about Toronto for example...

The Panthers arena in Sunrise is ACTUALLY right next to the edge of the Everglades which can actually see from above where hundreds and hundreds of very hungry alligators reside within walking distance! I would even dare to say (because I live so close by) due to all the bodies of water it has to be the only venue anywhere that you run into the chance of encountering one or two of these beasts while walking to and from the parking lot...seriously. BTW there ARE wild panthers too as well in the glades.

Hockey luck is weird and unpredictable man. If they are there, they DO deserve to be there. Now, that doesn’t mean the teams that beat on the way were 100% healthy nor on their best game nor does it mean they are actually the better overall hockey team…but it DOES mean they played better in a seven game series and that is in fact the entire point of the sport…You have to play in the moment . Gotta want it when it matters.

I've had Vegas a few months ago, they are a solid, hard checking team, great pressure in the O zone and clever puck movement, but I'm Boston guy so the Panthers are not to be overlooked, I think this is when Panthers are put in their place, I just hope they know it.

Put in what place? Boston was the most difficult team we’ve faced all playoffs. Dress serious, that was a series for the ages. Had it have been the SC Finals, everyone would tip their cap to Boston. No one will give Florida the difficulty Boston did. No one

Bitter Boston first the panthers beat your overrated Bruins then our other eighth seed the Miami Heat beat your Celtics in the same fashion but it was probably the referee's fault in both series. Can't wait till my dolphins annihilate the great Patriots game

@@doctorcane The fact of the matter is, by every metric, Boston played their worst the last 15 games of the season. Also, Ullmark wasn't 100% during the series with Florida. Boston was almost unbeatable most of the season, but became beatable by the time the playoffs started. The metrics don't lie.

Who said that this was going to be boring? Vegas finished first in the Western Conference and Florida won the President's Trophy in the 2021-22 season and eliminated this year's President's Trophy winner. So where's the boring?

Normally my ideal finals matchups consists of one big market/fanbase team and one team like the Panthers or Golden Knights. That way I can root for the less popular franchise. In this case though, I still love the matchup. I just might not be so leaning to one team over the other. Probably the Panthers slightly.

Both of these franchises made it to the Stanley Cup Finals in their playoff debut (Florida in their third season but first playoff appearance in 1996, Vegas in their expansion season in 2018). Both teams lost in the finals, and then never again returned to the finals until now. One of them is going to lose again.

Well as a Albertan born in Calgary yet raised up in the time of the 6 original teams I cheered for the Leafs (still a soft spot there for them) then when the Gretzky led Oilers upset the mighty Montreal Canadians I became a Oilers fan So this hard for me to say yet I'm actually going to cheer & hope that Florida & public enemy # 1Tkachuk Sam Bennett & Ryan Lomberg the ex Flames along with B Montour Barkov Bobrovsky & company win. Go Cats go. Conn Smythe its either Bob or Chucky imo.

The resemblance of this final compared to NBA is incredible. An 8th seed from the EASTERN CONF from Florida, vs a #1 seed in the WEST CONF who's never won a championship.

Whoever earns it, earns it. If you have a problem with the possibly of a series like this happening, you're basically endorsing the idea of having filler teams that are never expected to win anything and only pad out the schedule.
