This is awesome ! A pity Black didnt get a better result, though. The Ra4 ressource is really stylish, it crops up in several other lines as well. The variations you show, in particular the Queen sac are truly brilliant, no matter if they are computer generated. Another idea that I"ve had some fun with in the past is ...Ra5 rather than ...Qe7 to support the recapture on e5 in a different manner. Usually not the objectively best line, but obviously that's not the point of the gambit.

I didn't play the Wagon gambit before, but I have one interesting gambit. After 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 a6 3. Nc3 b5 4. cxb5 axb5 5. Nxb5 you can play 5. c5. It's not as dubious as the Wagon gambit and it has an interesting idea. If they take 6. dxc5 you can play 6. Qa5+ forking the king and the knight. The only way to save them is to go to c3 which then you will play Ne4 and pressure the knight. I suggest you look into it
@HighlyCruciferous
@HighlyCruciferous Жыл бұрын
That's actually quite intriguing ! My first thought at reading this was that White should be able to acheive some particularly favourable form of Benko but on closer inspection this doesn't seem possible. So yes, definitely worth looking into !

8:46 why does the back rank queen sac not work, the knight and rook are not coordinated so it should work?

If 24. ... Qb1+, White doesn't take the Queen immediately but instead plays 25. Rd1 and avoids the back rank mate.

Did black miss checkmate @8:45? After white captures the pawn with Rd7, black can move Qb1+ with check, forcing white to take the queen with the rook and allowing black to recapture the rook with forced backrank mate. The only way that white prevents mate there is for the knight to block the check and give up the rook (which will inevitably lead to white's loss)
@bababooeu7539
@bababooeu7539 Жыл бұрын
No, Rxb1 is not forced! There is one other move, Rd1, blocking the check with the rook and now you have to move the queen out the way. This is one tactical defence that, in many occasions, a lot of players miss.

@@MrDrompel Not exactly but it was winning material. If the Queen checks on G1, the Knight can block on e1. The queen can't take the knight, but has to take the rook, then the opponent can move the king next to the knight on f1, and thus the mate is avoided. Winning non the less for black.
