Like you, I've amassed many tools over the years.. my recent move/downsize had me sorting out all my duplicates... I didn't realize until then that I had been living a life where I thought it was my obligation to the world to rescue quality tools from a potential horrific fate. I think you might have the same 'condition', but it seems like you're managing it better than I did.. So keep doing what you like to do! Enjoy! Thanks for sharing your passion with us!

Breaking wrench’s. My 1st job out of high school was driving and washing busses at a school bus company. Some one borrowed one of the mechanics Snap On combination wrenches and sprung the open end. Snap On wouldn’t warranty it because it was abused. The mechanic spent at least an hour of company time grinding an oversized bolt head to a taper and hammering the box end onto it to beak it and get it warranted!

A good demonstration on why Craftsman's warranty is (was?) better. It's an unconditional warranty, didn't matter if it was broken by abuse, on purpose, or whatever, they would exchange it. That alone is a good reason to miss Sears

Lyle, I thought the mannequin was a guy dressed up and I probably would have punched him. I had to leave this note telling you that You, Abom and a young Aussie guy called Artisan Crafts all do above and beyond the call of duty with your respective videos. If you ever think there is neither demand for nor enjoyment in your videos, you could not be more wrong. I see amongst the young guys there is a solid demand to know mechanical things. They are not given this knowledge as part of their general school education as we were. When I think of the level of latitude we were given with lathes, milling machines and shapers at age twelve and the "secret projects" we undertook at lunchtimes (all manner of weapons) and yet I cannot remember any harm done to any child during those school years. We live in nanny state times my friend. Cheers to you and a very Merry Christmas to you and yours. Allan

Hello Alan. Thank you for a wonderful comment. I am flattered. It is so true what you just said about our current society. I am surprise. I am still alive with the crazy and dangerous things that we did when we were boys. Some of my escapades will be made public in future Anecdotal videos. It’s a shame that young kids do not have the opportunity to take Shop classes in most schools.

The severace rod end tool reminds me of the job im doing now. Putting 5/16 tenons on 1/2" round bar. 260 of them. Iused a 5/8" roto broach, or slugger bit in the tailstock, instead of normally turning them. They took about 5 seconds each. That "old ballpark" was in fantastic shape compared to old Tiger stadium ,it was immaculate ( tiger stadium was only 10 yrs older) condition and in my opinion there was no reason to tear down the old brewers field for a new field. When I hear of the new brewers stadium I always think of that beautiful old brewers stadium and think , why did they have to tear the old one down!

A radial drill press would be a useful tool for making palmer style saw horses. I bought an incomplete one at a scrap yard a number of years ago, and I plan to replicate the base that is now missing.
