Lyle - I really appreciate all the work you do and appreciate the no ad position you take. Now for the tombstone I'll just offer what my wife says she will have on mine. We were married upon college graduation; she survived the two years I spent on active duty with the Army. I then spent over 30 more years in the reserve components, mostly National Guard. Because of that I was often gone a lot, especially later in that career. So she told me years ago the inscription would read 'Here lies Dale - gone again'. I am fortunate she has tolerated me all these years.

Great to see you recovered from Covid. I have been a subscriber for years. Your wind turbine videos are two of your most memorable ones to me because they show the truth and the politics of the issue. I live on the south shore of Long Island NY where a huge wind farm project is proposed. There is opposition to it for many reasons, and when I get into it with a supporter I direct them to your videos to get educated on points they will never hear from the supporters. Thank you.

So glad to see you're feeling better Mr Pete. Mr Pete, there is nothing wrong with being compensated for your hard work. You have brought an invaluable contribution to this community over the years. So no, there is no "honor" in devaluing your own skill and labor, or in giving it away for free. It's not "begging" to be compensated for your effort. It is a voluntary exchange between parties. Don't let the pride in your heart, steal the food from your stomach.

I enjoy a rant myself from time to time. 😊 It was interesting to see Scherr-Tumico being part of the Rank Organisation as it was called here in the UK. There’s plenty about the founder, J. Arthur Rank, on the internet. Briefly he was born into a flour milling family in the northeast of England (Yorkshire). He developed the business known as the huge Rank Hovis McDougal flour milling business, now part of Premier Foods. In his middle age, he was a Sunday School teacher and, being a staunch Methodist, he started making short morally instructional films and, with help, after the war, Rank Films produced many famous commercial ‘movies’. He also developed his own studios that many may have heard of - Pinewood Studios - that were bought before the war. All postwar Rank films (‘movies’) had a strongman hitting a large gong, although they as a company hadn’t created this image, the man hitting a gong, or ‘gong man’ was adopted as the Rank Organisation logo that you can see on the top left of the Scherr-Tumico catalogue. 👍🇬🇧👍🇺🇸👍

Living in Denmark, here wind turbines are often replaced by larger turbines. The old ones are taken down by crane, and if they are still functional, they are sold on to countries that do not make such high demands on productivity.

I began watching Keith Rucker years ago on Vintage Machine. His free access library is great. He also has parts sources for modern bearings and one will match the old numbers with new sealed bearings that fit. I bought a 1964 Buffalo Forge 15" drill press, that was sitting on someone's screen porch getting wet and rusty. I dismantled, derusted using electrolyses, replaced bearings with modern sealed bearings using Keith's recommended supplier and archived parts list, and reassembled it. Now I have a very nice drill press. Next a Logan model 210 15" metal lathe. Keith is a good man, and so are you. Glad you're feeling better.

About the wind mills, I don't understand why they can't keep the towers and just replace the works on top. The site, foundation and tower is probably a third of the cost of the mill. This is my rant thanks 91 year retired air craft machinist.

Nice to see you're back at it. A definition of a turbine: A turbine is a turbomachine with at least one moving part called a rotor assembly, which is a shaft or drum with blades attached. Moving fluid acts on the blades so that they move and impart rotational energy to the rotor. Early turbine examples are windmills and waterwheels. I looked into building one at one point, just not worth it in my location.

I watched your wind generator videos Lyle and thought that they were very interesting. I hadn't realized how big those things were until I saw you walking into the base of one. We have hundreds of them here where I live (close to Palm Springs). The only thing I don't like about them is that they kill many thousands of birds every year. Some efforts are being made to drive birds away from them but I don't know if they are affective or not.

I am a farm boy. I have studied old documents, especially maps of the farm and its surroundings. I found that there had been two towers utilizing wind. One had been operational some time in the 1800's as an actual mill. A house at that location was even in my time called "Miller's House". The other had served as a pump, until in 1932 our house was electrified. Some time after that a new pump house was built. What I saw about the old wind pump remains were a couple of reinforcing rods sticking up from a concrete platform. Well, I did not become a farmer, and neither did either one of my brothers. My education made me an Engineer, and took me out to the world. There is one thing tying me to your mentioning of a General Time facility. For a few years, I happened to work in a building previously occupied also General Time. As I have understood, they made there some kitchen timers; maybe coffee makers as well. Nowadays the building houses a private school.

Moving fluid acts on the blades so that they move and impart rotational energy to the rotor. Early turbine examples are windmills and waterwheels."

When the sponsor's message comes up, the L key is your friend. It advances the video 10 seconds, so tap it repeatedly until the commercial is over. Some presenters are kind enough to wear a different outfit so you can see when the program returns. The J key backs up 10 seconds to correct an overshoot. I've been watching YT videos for years, but only recently found out about keyboard shortcuts. Maybe some of you are slow learners, too. (I also get fewer commercials because I pay for the Premium access. $12/month seems like a lot, though. It's automatic so I don't really notice. That's how they bleed you.) Glad to hear that you're feeling better! This was an enjoyable video for many reasons as you really hit on many subjects where I fully agree! I remember your windmill videos. Those were amazing. I believe I did comment but was probably one of the few who actually appreciated the construction details of the actual windmills as you explored them. There are people who can't keep from politicizing any and everything. Those people usually have very little constructive to add to video comments, Facebook, or life in general. I tend to leave them behind to talk into their closed one-man echo chamber. Also with you on the sponsorships. Have you had the offer where you get a paid sponsorship but each of your videos must be pre-approved by the sponsor before you make it public? Not worth that effort! Please keep sharing the old catalogs and literature. I love this stuff. Reminds me that I have loads of old refrigeration literature which needs to be shared. Oh if only we had 48 hours in a day and 10 days in a week, maybe my three lifetimes worth of projects could be completed. Keith Rucker may can use a few of those manuals and catalogs for the Vintage Machinery website. As you are aware, the website is a treasure of information. Thanks. And no, don't go the route of many You Tubers with ads of useless, or even useful crap. Ads drive me crazy!

Always great content, and the things you share Lyle are priceless to us the followers. I say these wise words from Harold Waters over at ARW should be considered. Keep on Keeping on! But add this to the end. Teaching in Heaven your trade! I have been thinking hard since I have a short time left, what mark good or bad have I left here on my journey? Honestly, I can't figure it out, but only hope my life touched just one person's life during my journey. Keep on keeping on Mr. Pete, Bear

Mr Pete! I watch your videos for the content and your insight! No adds is a big bonus for me. Watched your video on the "windmill" destruction! I liked it! I thought I commented on it but maybe not, sorry! A friend of mine on the Texas coast farms and also has wind generators in his fields. You should hear his rant! By the way, I would watch your videos even with commercials! Easy money and you have great videos so everyone wins! Lol! Just my 2¢! Thanks for your time and sharing! Just remember, YOU are " one of the good ones"! 👍😎✌️🇺🇸

Here is my entry, I saw it many years ago in a curio shop. "Ma loves Pa, Pa loves women. Ma caught Pa with two in swimmin. Here lies Pa" Great video as always. I said to you once that I like all your videos, and would watch a video of you eating a bowl of cereal.

Some people must drink a lot of vinegar for breakfast the way they comment. One thing I have to try to remember when looking at those old catalogs is how hard money was to come by. A .ocal farmer with a nice farm that he inherited from his family, said they couldn't even pay a dollar on their mortgage. Finally one of his older sisters got a job that keep the farm out of foreclosure and that wasn't the real monthly payment. In this area everyone was in the same shape so trying to sell farms wouldn't help the banks. That kind of prospect makes that lathe a fortune.

If you need the $1500 take the $1500. But I do enjoy the shop teacher sharing what he's excited about without all the commercial BS. Glad you are feeling better.

Pratt & Whitney (P&W) bought the precision tool business from Lufkin. After a short period of time, they stopped making precision tools. A "great buy", I guess. I remember the Mesher Co. (I grew up in Portland, Ore.). That Mitutoyo wall clock reminds me of those huge slide rule teaching aids we had in school. Warmest regards as always.

I love old tool catalogues of all kinds. Its amazing what obscure tools I can identify from looking at the old catalogues, mostly dowloaded as pdf,s. Told you you weren't going to die from covid Mr Pete!😅 no one ever gives me old stuff and I started asking at 3 years old.

Glad to see you in better sprits Lyle. And although I do appreciate you thoughtfully sparing us the ads, I think you should take that easy money. It isn't hard for us to skip though the ads.
