As the big tree is hollow, you should set those chunks vertical. The chimney affect would help burn it from the inside out along with burning from the outside in.

I do like seeing the various channel operators getting together checking out each others equipment. They getsometime off and ebbd up checking out each others equipment and locations even joining operating each others equipment on work sites. A nice Monday evening entertainment after putting up some closet shelves for my Wife's elderly best friends. At my age, I'm sore and tired so it's relaxing watching a Chris Letsdig18 episode is perfect.

Chris, you have a real knack for burning the brush piles. I live in the Pacific Northwest and with all the logging that goes on here, they don't seem to be able to burn up the brush piles as well as you are able to do. It's always amazing to see the huge piles dwindle down to small piles of ash when you get finished.

Up here in the PNW too often they are burning it wet and we have lots of rain. The moisture content of the wood and foliage is much higher here. The smart ones (or the ones that care about smoking out area) let it dry over summer and burn in the fall as the rains set in. If they do that it burns much better. I have a 20 foot slash pile that is 10 feet high dried over summer then got plastic on it, scheduled for burn in December.

On a tree that big you could sell it to make table tops out of. The hollow part is filled with epoxy. We had a huge oak that make that one look small. It was 10 ft in diameter and completely hollow. Only the outside 6inches held it up. My brother and myself would play inside it when we was little you could easily fit 8 people inside it. Had nesting bats inside the top of it. They would fly out of the limbs at dusk. Later it fell over during a microburst. It's root system was massive took 2 dozers to push it.

That was brilliant. Long live the poplar. They used to say the duty of a tree is to lose the heartwood so it flexes better in high winds. What really struck me though was reading the height display for the boom. Really put the size of things in perspective. Massive respect to Clint and his team. That dozer is beautiful yes sir. Thank you.

I think it would be extremely cool to see an excavator version of a Dakota fire pit. Perhaps dig a 3 foot deep square pit and start filling larger logs in alternating stacks kinda like a log cabin fire pit and then throw a crap load of crap on top. Then dig out a center line hole on a couple of side for air flow.

Our old farm had 56 trees of 120 ft and taller. We had to cut 2 down once. Called in a fella that had a saw blade longer them my pickup truck it seemed, but both trees came down, not hollow. I have a photo of the rings but we counted 264 on the one Oak tree and 238 on the second tree. The limbs were struck by lightning. We sold the lower 12 feet of both to a mill and the rest went to firewood. 10 years later I still have some of that wood in the covered shed stored up. Great video!

Perfect tree for a "chimney log" You stand them vertical, support them with braces & set a fire below them. Doesn't take long & you have a jet of fire shooting out the top! That one would take many hours to burn through & tip over. Biggest we've done is about 18" diameter & 8' tall. That one would be epic!!!

If the tracks on your equipment gets as muddy as that, Chris needs a way to bring some waste water to rinse off the tracks. Maybe not a water truck per say, but maybe a trailer with a nice size water tank on it as well as a pressure washer. Could save much time and aching muscles like that.

If I send you my address, you can ship me that monster poplar, as there's a couple of decades worth of drawer boxes right there. The rot up the centre's immaterial, as the outer timber will be so much better. I'll not even charge for disposal...😉 When I had the timber harvesting business, we used to call those supersize specimens 'wolf trees' as they ate all the goodness from all around, starving the rest.
