This Trip Didn't Go As Planned (Findley State Park)

In this episode of Wandering Wagners we travel to Findley State Park in Wellington, Ohio in our ‪@NeXusRV‬ Wraith Super C RV. However, This trip didn't go as planned!
This was Piper's first trip where she is 100% released from the vet limitations after her TPLO surgery. Which is great but deciding to take her on a hike without Mike was a mistake.
Mike also got short notice that he had to do training during our stay so he missed out on some of this trip and Piper's first hike...which was a bummer because she really misbehaved on the hike! I took her on my own and she was WILD! She was trying to go after other dogs and pulling so hard at every other person on the trails. Some of the trails were muddy from all the rain we've been getting too and Lynn just so happened to step in a big mud pile haha It was super annoying and disheartening for Lynn. We made it back and had to unwind with a campfire, cornhole and a beverage.
Mike returned and we were able to enjoy the rest of our trip with friends. Hoping next week will be better.

Piper had the best time wanting to go all street pipe on other dogs on the trail😩 I did not lol I was worried she was going to hurt her good leg! Luckily she seems good to hike another day👏🏻😂

I lived in Toledo for several years in the late 80s. I still kind of miss it. Though it seems like violent crime there has gone way up. Which is a big nope for me. I was surprised to hear that. One of the things I loved about Toledo was the people were so easy to get along with.

We live in metro Toledo and frequent Toledo without issues but certain areas can be sketchy mostly at night

My yellow Labrador is the saw as piper, in the house and the back yard she’s super obedient and calm. Then I take her out to a park and she’s a completely different dog that doesn’t listen at all and pulls nonstop

Love em but dang sometimes quite hard to handle haha she's even gone through two different training programs and she still refuses to listen on trails with other dogs.

Agreed... Hoping next time is better. I had high hopes but it was awful. Piper loved it but I certainly did not😂

It is nice to see Piper up and around even though not the most behaved at the moment. Our dog tends to do better with me than Lil so I understand the challenge you had.

Yeah I think she knows she can't pull Mike likes she can me... Mike Will put her in "air jail" but she was really muddy at that point so it was just a lot to deal with. That and the people and dogs we came across didn't seem to understand that Piper was not cool with them taking their sweet time as I was going way off trail trying to contain her... Overall very frustrating hike lol

You are right where we usually camp in the winter. Just north of the shower house on the far west side in the pine trees by the lake

Findley muddy? Nah, never! One of our favorite parks! only about 40 minutes from our place. We sometimes head into Wellington just for a day trip. McConnell Meats isn't too far from their either. Glad Piper is getting around so much better.

We always warm people not to stay here when it's going to rain or has recently rained a lot because there's flooding ands lots of mud but it was a great middle point to meet up with friends so we took our chances haha! Piper is feeling a little too good somedays😜🐾

Good to see Piper up and about. Looks like she can be a handful at times. Have you ever tried a "front clip" harness?

Yes we've done every kind of harness there is. She's legit wild when she wants something and can't get to it, especially when Mike isn't there. 😩 Hoping she didn't hurt her legs and the next hikes will be better

we can hear the frustration in your voice but the log jumping was neat... always be careful when stepping over a log snakes like to lay just under them.. Mike absence does make the heart grow fonder....

I was very frustrated... If I had 7 hands I could have recorded her being legit bat sh*t crazy when people and or dogs were on the trail. She was redirecting on us like crazy... But I tried to give her grace because Mike wasn't there and she hasn't been out in 6-10 months on an actual hike... Ugh

She was excited but she was far too wild... She was trying to go after all the people and other dogs like old piper used to do😩

Gotta tell ya when you showed big mistake I was so worried pipers leg got hurt!! Glad it was just her being hyper!!

I was so scared she was going to hurt her other leg... If I had more arms and could record her being bad, you'd understand more haha😩🤦🏼‍♀️ I kept telling her no you're going to hurt your other leg! Stop! Her good leg is still overpowering because her left lost muscle so I was hoping a hike would help the rebuilding muscle process but man at this point I should have just waited for Mike to be there too... Who knows if she hurt her other leg at this point it's possible
