That’s what I thought too. Make those bottom clouds into mountains with snow on them. Emma, I appreciate that you posted the video even though you felt it was just ok. Others see things that we as artists don’t always see. I know next time I have ‘cloud frustration’ to try some gouache to brighten it up just for fun.

Emma I have to be honest. You were the first KZfaqr I watched and I've learned so much from you and have loved your style. Today is no different. These landscapes are beautiful. The top one makes me think of an icy lake and the bottom a snow ch overed meadow. The clouds are beautiful but could also look like a snowcapped mountain. I'm from CA, it makes think of Mt. Shasta. Beautiful! Thank you❤

I love that, you, being the teacher, show your struggles to us. Takes the "edge" off of our struggles. Plus, & this us a biggie, we learn much better from the struggles & mistakes. And, on the bottom picture, right after you re-wet it, you were fiddling with it. I thought it looked like rough seas. It was actually quite beautiful looking at it as the ocean as opposed to a sky. It's all perspective!

I'm so happy you ended up posting it! You can't even imagine how important it is to see that even you sometimes don't like what you paint because when I watch all those perfect paintings and videos I feel like such a failure when I paint something and don't like it. So it is good to see that we all have those moments.

I love these and I appreciate your sharing this because it is so much like what happens to me when I am painting. I get disappointed and discouraged early on when things don't work the way I want.Your showing this just reinforces that the same thing happens to people a lot more experienced than me. I love that you showed what to do when it doesn't turn out the way you wanted. Thanks for not being afraid to be real. On the bottom one, the cloud area looks like it's in the mountains and really gives the sky a lot of depth. It's not as bad as you think.

100% honest - I love the top one. The bottom one, before you added the white to the clouds, I didn't like it, but I do think you saved it. I know if i had painted it, I would have thought it was garbage (because I'm crazy,) but it is very pretty. In the end, they were both beautiful. The one thing that I think could have been different - the green trees. I like the addition of the green, but I feel like it's too bright for the setting. If they were a bit darker and more muted - perfect. Thank you for sharing this with us. I struggle with perfectionism and imposter syndrome, so it's really helpful to see someone that I look up to, be unsure or imperfect.

I enjoyed watching your process and I think we can learn from your struggles too. I think we tend to be our own worst critic, at least I know it rings true for me. We see all these videos of what appear to be seamless and perfect works of art being created on KZfaq and it can keep us too focused on perfection and we can so easily become frustrated, overwhelmed and forget why we’re painting or even know ant to throw in the towel. I have learned so much from watching your videos over the past 4 years. I greatly appreciate all the work you put into creating videos to share. I am all for keeping things “real” and don’t worry what anyone else thinks. As long as you’re happy and finding joy in the process, that’s all that matters.

This is a million times more helpful than the 'fix these common watercolor mistakes!' videos. Seeing adaptation, fixes, etc. in situ rather than 'oh dear my little block has backruns!' actually helps my brain a lot. I wanted to add that I think the cloud at top right is *perfect*. I think the issue was the top center cloud's shadowing doesn't feel right. I think it needed less shadow to it and maybe just on the sides. But that's just me! I analyze because I'm learning so please forgive if I'm way off base or anything. :)

Hi Emma, I started watching your channel when I picked up watercolor a while back. My background is with graphite, It is so opposite in practice that your videos really showed the what I needed to learn. When using graphite everything was greyscale and the light defined the entire piece. I think studying reference cloudscapes, light sources in particular, may help. Loved the video! Thank you 😃
