Gonna refresh some basic info for you. BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute) mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal". They are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26. *MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24. *MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 20 and is the new official member since April 1st recently. *YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018. None of them are related. After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said. About this song: Monochrome is another beautiful track from latest album called The Other One, it was the 2nd single released in November 2022 and there's an official lyrics video really cool if you wanna enjoy the studio album version, later in 2023 right before this concert you just saw they released the Piano Version at The First Take surprising everyone with another stunning and beautiful one off stripped down version. The lyrics got some Norse mythology reference and when the lyrics vid came out there were many theories around, later they said they were surprised about it and saying they just wanna give a hopeful song. Here's some official info: _"One of the discovered 10 parallel worlds is MONOCHROME and this 2nd pre-release digital single “Monochrome” centers around this theme. From the eyes of the children, what color were the monochrome fireworks lighting up in the night sky? This song expresses the hopeful wish on Ragnarok, which signifies doomsday in Norse mythology, twinkling across the starry skies in rainbow colors."_ This was live at BabyMetal Begins - PIA Arena MM Clear Night, Yokohama on April 2, MomoMetal first concert as an official member, you can notice SuMetal speaking to them in the middle section and giving that recognition. They got this magical moment when performing live in every setlist they did throughout this whole World Tour 2023, and we'll definitely gonna see more this year. The composer behind this song is the same one behind Karate, Rondo Of Nightmare, Kagerou, the arrangement of Megitsune and also behind Believing from this same latest album, you should really not miss those songs. Next suggestion: - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official (2015), that's the best version you can find of this song and that's the general consensus among BM fans. This crowd was around 12,000. Their Tokyo Dome shows (they played 2 back to back shows) were 55,000 each night! Imagine that crowd with their lights up!

Welcome back, nice reaction. This is a beautiful song and a beautiful performance ... and they have been getting everybody to "light up this dark, dark world" with their phones everywhere they played around the world last year. This video was from the 'BABYMETAL Begins' concerts in April - they had only played this song in their 'BABYMETAL Returns' concerts in January before this. You will not be able to predict what the next song will be like, all you can predict is that it will be a great song ... whether it is one you will like is another question, we all have our own different tastes and preferences. Every one of their songs is somebody's favourite (and 'Headbanger' rates very high with probably the majority of fans - it was probably just a bit too much for you as a first listen. We will take you back to it with a different version eventually and I suspect you will love it then ... after you have got a bit more used to BABYMETAL and what they do). I think you will like 'Metal Kingdom' (another of the newer songs and the first song on the same album as 'Monochrome'). Ideally find a live performance (from 'BABYMETAL Returns' or from 'BABYMETAL Begins, Clear Night'), but the official video (filmed at BABYMETAL Returns last January) is not at all bad.

Thanks for this reaction, glad you liked it. As mentioned before Babymetal is not your regular metal band. So this allows them to take ideas from all metal sub-genres and even other general music genres. Which allows them have a broad range of types of songs. In some ways, Babymetal maybe has a song for everyone. PS Don't make crazy promises for the number of reactions, just do what you enjoy, because often life will come in the way of keeping your promises, life does that. . Maybe even have some backlog of a few videos you can upload in advance and release when you can't do reactions. So you can keep some consistency. Maybe of new bands/groups ?

Nice reaction, thanks! They are very diverse musically and they hace something for everyone. They are able to mix any music genre with metal: EDM, hip-hop, ska, rock, pop... This is not on their heavier side but they have way more poppier, funnier and crazier than this. So, always expect the unexpected. 🤘🦊

there is also a piano version that is _amazing_ (hint: i like turning on the CC whenever available). seems like you'd like the latest album in general (such as Divine Attack , Metal Kingdom , Metali ,..) like someone else said - you may be best served working backwards through their timeline (at least until you get acclimated to their sound). if you ever get interested in seeing Su's rap chops, check out BxMxC. "trilogy of lights" (3 songs: Starlight , Shine , and Arkadia) is also quite popular. Road of Resistance is also always a crowd-pleaser. that should get you started .... after that, you may be ready for the deep plunge.

The great thing about Babymetal is that they are so musically diverse that there is bound to be something in their repertoire that will click for you. Yes, the lighting and visual effects shows at their concerts are pretty overwhelming. Babymetal concerts are not for people who are sensitive to flashing lights. I was at the concert where this was filmed. It was at PIA Arena MM in Yokohama, Japan in April this year. There were 10,000 people at this show, which was the second of a two night performance.

Monochrome showcases a more mainstream Babymetal.

As you journey deeper into the Foxhole, you’ll see that BabyMetal has a song for everyone. No one song is the same. You’ll experience death metal, djent, ska, power ballads, metal core, industrial, prog, hip hop, Jpop, etc. Hear songs about bubblegum time machines, fruit, chocolate, hide n go seek, nightmarish demon, fighting bullies, etc. I doubt any random BabyMetal fans have the same top 10 BabyMetal songs on their list. That’s how good & diverse their discography is. I’ll just say it now, I think you’ll like Syncopation, Akatsuki, Brand New Day, Kagerou & Awadama Fever.

I just experienced this live in December here in Spain and was... amazing and unique. I just want to be there again. I think you liked this more because this sounds more "organized" to someone who's not used to listen to metal. Mayber songs like Syncopation, PA PA YA!! or Megitsune are better to start for you. You will notice that Babymetal fans are way faithful and passionate, we just love to get new people into the band and hopefully you end up feeling the same as we feel with each song. 🦊 NOTE: I'm actually very with Babymetal, I started hearing them this september when Metali!!! was out (I already heard Gimme Chocolate lot of years ago, but but at that time it didn't quite connect with me) and in a month turned into my favorite band and I'm really proud of it.

Was a contestant on the Korean reality survival program "Girls Planet 999" (which thankfully for The ONE, she was eliminated from early on) and performed in a stage musical production of "Black Butler". Momoko was the only “Avenger” (see below) to perform in the “10 BABYMETAL Budokan” shows in 2021 and was officially named Momometal and made a permanent member in April 2023. She deserves the spot! You will notice she was a little slow joining Su and Moa before Su started humming. This was her first night as an official member and was still getting used to actually being part of the group and not just a side dancer. Fun Fact: Momoko's father is a popular comedian in Japan known for making dead-pan jokes. Momoko worked very hard to make her way without using his name as a crutch. BLACK BABYMETAL: Yuimetal and Moametal performing as a duet while Su-metal takes a breather. Also known as “MoiMoi”. There are 4 BBM songs (GJ!, Onedari Daiskusen, 4 No Uta\Song 4, and Sis. Anger) some of which Moametal performed solo a few times after Yui's departure. Now that Momometal is a member, we are hoping for more BBM songs with MoMoa! But only the Fox God knows. AVENGERS: 3 Dancers who took turns performing the choreography in Yuimetal’s spot after her departure. They were not official members did not have microphones and were not even named. It was the fans who quickly figured out who they were and you will see them in live performances between 2018 and 2021. They were: Momoko Okazaki (see above). Riho Sayashi: Suzuka’s former rival at Actors School Hiroshima, often competing for the same roles. Former “Ultimate Ace” of the JPop Idol group Morning Musume. Now a solo artist. Kano Fujihara: Former Member of Sakura Gakuin, the school-aged Idol group that BABYMETAL was born out of. Like Suzuka and Moa before her, Kano was Student Council President her last year in Sakura Gakuin and like Yui, was considered arguably the best dancer in SG during her time there. She is now a member of the Idol group @onefive, which is comprised of 4 Sakura Gakuin graduates (Kano, Momo, Soyo and Gumi). Kano only performed with BABYMETAL in Japan as she could not travel, likely due to her commitments to Sakura Gakuin and the then developing @onefive. This is one of the better songs on the new album, but for their older stuff check out Megitsune music video or Kingslayer or Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro Budokan live (this showcases the Kami band behind the girls).

I thought this one might grab you more - 3 versions of this - all wonderful (previous video you were very unlucky - but if you're still into them in a month or two you'll be able to appreciate it :P) . "One Take" version shows lead singers voice off beautifully - lyric video makes pretty explicit what it's about and this performance kinda speaks for itself - I love the leadins and band intros they often do live that seem to go missing in "official" videos - it makes the songs so much more impactful - alongside of course the fans who often make a Babymetal song SO much better :D As for not liking metal - I think a lot of ppl actually do appreciate the virtuosity of the players - it's the growling/screaming that throws them. BM kinda solves that - they don't usual growl or scream (Moa seems to have pretty good scream from what I remember of the birthday performance though :P) sooo....what do you think of metal now? 😂 Good reaction!

Very cool!!! In your reaction to Headbanger you opted for a compilation video, which focused on Moa's 20th birthday show (Moa is the one who ends the song). Normally, people start with the "Legend 1997" show, versions of the songs that were made there. I think the version I like most of "Catch me if you can" is the one they did there. They were then 16 years old (Su) and 14 years old (Yui and Moa). There are a lot of cool things for you to see. If a fan recommends a song, always try to watch the recommended version. So glad you did this, I had suggested this version then road of resistance live in Japan after monochrome so definitely follow jakemuller and do road of resistance next. Have all their blu ray shows now, incredible, after road of resistance my next two I think would be a good progression is a su metal solo, they are all good but amore live at Wembley 2016, fantastic. Then dusk to dawn to show more vital talent and spectacular staging

Thanks for your reaction. The other song you reacted to was an old song, written more than 10 years ago. This one, Monochrome, is from their last album, released in 2022. You simply prefer their newer and more mature songs. It's strange to call a group of girls in their twenties "mature", but they began when they weren't yet teenagers (two of them were respectively 11 and 12, the third one started some years later as backup dancer at 16).
