Fun fact: Henk Poort played the Phantom in the Dutch production of the Phantom of the Opera. I can't quite find the year of when he did that though. The growling he did in part of it was in honor of Floor and Nightwish as they have a version of this song that they did. Floor loves the Phantom of the Opera and is a major fan of Henk Poort as the Phantom, so this was an absolute dream come true for her.

The best version ever recorded in my humble opinion.

I've seen this,literally dozens of times. Both of these performers are about as good as you could possibly get. They are so good actually,they don't even spund real. Anytime I see Floor or Henk in a performance I just have to watch because they never let me down. Henk actually played thr beast on stage for many years in the past. Also keep in mind that this is just two people grabbing mics and singing......no prep......it's crazy talented.

Henk Poort, a very famous opera and musical singer. He was the Dutch phantom and Webbers favourite Phantom. Floor had a crush on him as little girl, awesome they sing together now. Night wish invited him in the concert in Amsterdam to perform it with them. Henk's version of "the sound of silence" is also beautiful. Floor and Henk sang a lot of duets during covid from their homestudio's. In Holland we call him Ome Henk (Uncle Henk) He's the sweetest most humble man I know. Also the only opera singer who dares to use grit on his voice

I was lucky to see this in the NL when this aired on network TV. I was speechless as I watched.

Enjoyed your reaction! This is my favorite performance of Phantom using Tuomas's arrangement. This version is less metal and more rock musical theater then the Nightwish original with Tarja and Marko. Henk is a famous Dutch musical theater star and is mostly known for his roles in Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables. He was the first Phantom in the original Dutch stage production of Phantom and a teenage Floor saw he perfrom on stage and she became a huge fan. A big part of her agreeing to do this show was to be able to meet Henk and sing with him. Beste Zangers is a Dutch singing show that brings popular Dutch singers from different genres together to interact and sing each other's songs. On each show one singer is put in the spotlight and the other singers perform songs from the featured singer's catalogue or songs that are meaningful to them. Henk was in the spotlight on the first show and Floor was the very first singer and sang Vilja Lied to him and blew everyone away. Last show is duets and Floor asked Henk to sing Phantom with her. He agreed as along as he got to sing it with Nightwish the next time they played Amsterdam. It took 3 years but in November of 2022 they made it happen. They also did Dangerous Game from Jekyl and Hyde which is fantastic, either the music video during the pandemic or the live version in Floor's 2021 solo show in Amsterdam.

This is such an awesome performance! I've seen many versions, including those from Nightwish, and this remains my favorite. Both of them absolutely kill it, and the music and production is top notch too. 👍🎭🤟

Yes!!! You found "the Phantom" by the best male and female performer imaginable. Lovely to see how this blows you away. Exactly this performance made Floor well known in her home country. Us metal dudes knew already of course, but this was her breakthrough by the larger public. Henk was already well known, and for good reasons. And fantastic he loved to perform next to Floor with Nightwish. I mean, feeling comfortable to that level of singing.....They perform very well together. And next to the singing the gestures and the looks....They make it exciting. Pure pro's!!!

The best performance of all. Henke guested st the 2022 Amsterdam Nightwish show for a version of this. IMO it isnt as good as this, but you should watch it if only for the 17 second final note from Floor. Henke was a long-time idol of Floor and she was hardly known in her own country before this 2019 show went out and The Netherlands realised what they had. Note that Henke, though he was THE Phantom in NL, learnt distortion specifically for this performance.

Henk learned how to do distortion just for Floor, just for this show, which he added to his "Sound of Silence (Disturbed version)" which he sang for Floor, and this performance. In the before/after discussions he mentioned that, as an opera singer, distortion is a big no-no, and if you do it they say "NEXT!", so he'd never tried it before. I must say, he is a VERY fast learner!

I've seen this god knows how many times, never gets old. There are more gems with Floor from Bezte zangers like her singing "Shallow" and going full opera in "Vilja Lied". Not to mention Henk absolutely killing it with "The sound of silence", that performance hits in the feels smth crazy. He also did a guest appearence with NW in Amsterdam last year with the Phantom.

This presentation is incredible and the television program even better, Anneke also excelled during the season she was on. I was pleased to pleasantly discover Tim Akkerman, Karsu, Nick Schilder and Duncan Laurence.

Shocked by Henk... you should 🤣 Well...Henk is a OG Dutch Phantom (and Floor is a huge fan). Henk Poort is a Dutch singer. Poort's major roles include Erik (the Phantom) in the Dutch version of The Phantom of the Opera and Jean Valjean in the first staging of the Dutch version of Les Misérables in the late 1990s. Also, in here, if memory serves, it was the very first time to Henk to sing with distorted voice (little teachings from Floor of course). In this Dutch Tv show "Beste Zangers" they made a promise, that Henk will sing this song with Floor and Nightwish, when they come to the Netherlands. As mentioned by others, there are other instances of Floor and Henk singing this song. My favorite of those is the performance with Nightwish at Ziggo Dome Amsterdam in 2022. Nightwish does, well, Nightwish things and Floor holds the last note forever. However, this performance on Beste Zangers is by far my favorite. So intimate and expressive. This was the first (recorded) instance of them singing this together and, IMHO, it is the best.

I remember being out for a minute, just staring at the screen, no idea what hit me; then my mind started working again and yep, that last note is what "disconnected" me, I had the same reaction as the ladies, freaking out on the couch, Henk's vocal fry took me by surprise and made me giggle like a little girl lol they've performed it several times ever since, but the most iconic is the one with Nightwish 💖 is as beautiful as Tarja and Marko, back in the day

Henk also put on his Tux again and sang this phantom version in a solo show of Floor's when she filled in as an opening act for an Amsterdam Stadium Metallica show.

Judging on your intro, you will like the show. It is not a competition. Floor does not like competitive singing. Still, she initially wanted to say no, until she heard that Henk Poort was in it, her long time idol. She loves his voice. Seven Dutch singers are invited and send each other their own songs or favourite songs that have meaning for them. Every episode one of the particpants is in the "hot seat", he/she is not singing that episode, but is treated by all the others with songs that they chose to sing to him/her. This results often in performances that are outside their normal style of singing. I have seen an opera singer singing Eminems rap "Lose yourself" to perfection. Before and after the performances interviews and conversations take place about why the song is important. This goes deep sometimes, very emotional. Why? Well the recordings take place in ten days on a remote location and participants MUST come alone, no husbands, no children, no managers. This facilitates bonding of the group. Participants can have a few rehearsals with the band. In total there are 8 episodes per year. The last episode is singing duets with each other. This is an example of it. Floor participated in 2019 and liked it so much that she wanted to come back in 2020, but she had medical issues so she had to record the songs from her home studio. Floor did also the German version of this show, Sing meinen Song in 2021??. The Dutch versions are on youtube with English subs, the German version not so much (only bits and pieces, it is behind a paywall).

I was working at a theater props place when I was a teenager when Phantom came to Toronto. We were commissioned to do the shaking chandelier and we'd all take turns beading the lines with different real crystal beads. The boat in the opening opera scene was just a hunk of metal on coasters, but the whip was all me. Hand cut and braided the leather myself. Didn't actually get to see Phantom until the final year run. Got my husband to take me for my birthday. It took Paul Stanley from KISS to play the lead for him to agree. It was awesome! It doesn't get better than that. She did 4 or 5 more songs on that show, Beste Zangers, 2019, all of them were that good. Her version of Shallow will bring a tear to your eye. Some of the best live singing I've ever seen. Hats off to this band especially the bass player and the drummer, they all killed it. Nightwish with Floor and Henke do Phantom agin live in Amsterdam a couple years ago. They absolutely killed it again. Watch it also. WHOA !
