Welcome back to another episode where man and machine attempt to do battle with Haulover Inlet!

Round 1: Guy didn't even spill his beer! Boat win, not Haulover. Round 2: With decks awash, Haulover win. Round 3: Boat win. Round 4: Boat win. Round 5: Haulover win. @4:28... Mama's puppies got drowned! So, with my Flawed Scoring Technique, Boats win 3-2.

Even though the boat in round one had a rough ride, the fact that the passenger didn't spill the beer should count as a win for the boat.

The guy on the Pursuit is tightening the fuel fill cap. You can see the vent right below it on the side of the hull.

The guy in question was in position to feed the fish his breakfast if it came back up. I have a serious question. On that last boat, the fjord. What is the thinking behind the bow? No rake, fairly blunt. How is that supposed to cut through waves. Since I am no kind of expert what am I missing?

The design of the Fjord is a compromise to get much more interior space. A heavily flared bow like you see on offshore fishing boats takes away most of the space that could be used for a cabin up front. A boat like the Fjord should be driven with the bow up high enough that the that the vertical part of the bow is not in the water. But that's hard if not impossible to do in rough seas.

I have to strongly disagree with the decision to give Haulover round 1. Round one was a clear win for the boat. The guy in the front was up against the center consol. Had a good hold on the side rail and never lost his hand hold. Never spilled or dropped his drink. Smiled the whole time. Round ONE to the Boat all the way.

Throwing a stupid-bow boat in at the end is almost always going to be a predictable stuffing. I have only seen a few of them traverse the inlet with the proper amount of throttle (being wealthy doesn't ensure intelligence) and even then the slab-sided stuff still isn't a lock to work the inlet. Long, expensive lake boats.
