Tolstoy wanted you and I to read this book every day. This was Tolstoy's favourite book and he spent 15 years working on it. In this video, we are going to explore Tolstoy often forgotten book called 'A Calendar of Wisdom'.

I purchased this book sometime last year based on your recommendation, Vashik. I keep it on the shelf of my bedside table, and although I don’t read it every day as you do, I do often open the page of the day. Today, July 23, is “Effort is the necessary condition of moral perfection.” A good reminder.

So glad to hear that you got it Donna. Some of Tolstoy's entries can be overly religious sometimes, but the vast majority are spiritually nourishing :)

I now have this book by Tolstoy on my holiday wish list for morning meditation. I am also doing BREAKFAST WITH SENECA. Which prompts the question - What’s for lunch? LOL Love your insights.

Спасибо большое за ваше видео! Не знала, что у Толстого была такая книга. Живу в Нью-Йорке, на русском такого не найти, нашла только онлайн в сборнике сочинений. Куплю на английском. У вас великолепный канал! ❤

Religion in ussr was separated from the state, but not banned dor people. All religions lost their influence in politics and could do only spiritual support for society. People still could be religious. Many churches were closed, but many of them worked all the time.

hey Vashik, this book reminded me of "The Book Of Disquiet" from the portuguese writer Fernando Pessoa, have you heard of it? It follows almost the same structure, but maybe with less quotes from other writers/thinkers. I added 'Calendar of Wisdom' to my wishlist and intent to buy it very soon. Also, congrats on the video, it's very good content! Keep going :)

I have heard of it and I even own a copy in my library. :) Let me take a look at it once again, maybe it will be added to my list of 'Morning books' as well.

Or, perhaps, with what "depth" they read any book would be even more insightful.

The book is actually heavily influenced by Christianity and offers many contrary views on being a good Christian and person rather than what is popular in christian culture but is morally weak under inspection.
