Hi Girls. I think it`s great your running a mill. In the 1980`s I was the head sawyer at a mill with a 48" and 50" circle saw. I was told before I started that the money is in the lumber, not the slabs. So I would do my best to get a 1x4 or 6 on my second cut while I sized it down to a cant. I also was told they never saw anybody cut hardwood as fast as I did. I realize you cant, [ sawmill humor], saw as fast as a circle saw, however you can be just as efficient as one and even better due to the thinner blade. So my challenge to you gals is to see how many 1x4 or 1x6 or even 2x4 or 2x6`s you can get out of those thick slabs BEFORE you make them slabs! Take this challenge for the next 30 days and you will be amazed at what you can build out of those extra boards! Take care young weed hoppers. lol

Is it a lot more time consuming to quarter saw white oak ? So many antique pieces of furniture I’ve seen over the years are quarter sawn white oak. I’m a cabinetmaker, and the quarter sawn white oak costs more than rift or plain sawn white oak. I think I saw a video you did in the past quarter sawing ? The lumber , the videos , the work ethic and video editing is all excellent ! Awesome channel !

There is a moment in there at 3.15/16 where the tension within the log makes the cut section spring upwards at he end of the saw blades travelling. How often does this occur and is it due to a growth feature of the log?

When Jade gets board from the sawmill while the sawmill pushes the board from the log, it is always a question - who do this more quickly - Jade or the sawmill 🙂. I think in this situation it is needed to be careful.
