in this masking video, we are going to talk about the possibilities of what masking video editing could look like in the future and we are going to see if this runway my tool beats Davinci resolve masking, premiere pro masking, and other alike. Masking is truly one of the most tedious parts of video editing, so its no surprise that masking video editing is going to be automated one day soon! so we will explore more of this video editing tool to see if it can be a true masking tool or if we have to keep manually masking in programs like Davinci Resolve 17, premiere pro and others. Please don't do that voice effect in the intro again. It was out of phase in stereo and completely silent in mono.

The left and right channels of your audio (of you intro voice over) are out of phase with each other. If anyone listens in mono to the start, they'll hear silence. Keep in mind, many devices, such as mobiles, are mono only.

Same principle as using Magic Mask in the DR Color Tab. You need Studio, but it works great.

Have you ever done a tutorial on how to achieve an old grainy overlay effect on footage with the pops and dots and coffee stains? i'm thinking I'd like to do that with a video where I cut in, go black and white, play some sad music, then narrate (it's to effect something that didn't go right with a PC build, lol). My friend, can I ask you a question? In davinci resolve 17 " I am in a clip that has two tracks, one for my voice and one for the sound of the system, and I took my voice right to the mic and modified it in my audition And I want to add it with the track, right to the system and the video. I mean, I modified the track, right of my voice outside the program, and put it in the timeline, but!! If I want to cut, I have to click on the modified clip from the outside, but I added it to cut but if I didn't do this. I will cut the right of the tracks into the sound of the system and the video, so what is the solution?

do you know how to draw a line between two moving objects? it acts like a perfect elastic string essentially, would be even better if it changes color based on the length of the line.

FYI, no vocal sounds during the intro for the sound-settings I use. If I put my sound system on stereo, the voice comes through, but it sounds very flat. Maybe it's coming through the rear channels but I don't have them connected. ( I didn't think KZfaq supported 5.1 regardless. )

I don't know if this is because my computer only has a crappy little usb speaker but I didn't get any sound other than some quiet ticking until the splash screen after the "walking around" bit of the intro.

First 30 seconds are phase out of sync (or switched) - mono devices will have a problem with playing it. Try with your mobile or with headphones.

Okay Billy, you sold me on the starter kit, I just bought it. One question please! Can you point me to a video that tells me how to cut properly? Every time I cut, all of the other tracks slide left and I lose all of timings! So frustrating!

Originally we did. It was very boring if im going to be honest. Once you see it track a person running almost perfectly, its boring to watch a person standing still get masked out. If it helps, we used it for the intro shot when i walked by the text :)

I think you can save it with a green screen background and then hop in fusion and use delta key and take off that green screen and BAM! Also, it might have save with transparent background! Not sure I haven't checked it out but the green screen option definitely seems to be there! Hope this helps. :)

I mean there is a free verison of this. There's no masking tool this advanced out there. After effects would be the closest, but it's still decently far off from this tool. Studios like corridor have put this to the test and in terms of speed, this is the best masking tool. But if you are just looking for a video editor, davinic resolve is amazing

Yeah, but its not that good if a person is moving or if the colors arent contrasting. Plus it is very slow and annoying to work with if I can be honest lol. I dont use it for this reason.

Idk if you can save png file on davinci, but cutting out an object from images are too easy in photoshop. In video you have to mask it or rotoscoping, which is harder to do and idk if you can save it as png.

Yeah but it's still not nearly as effective as this. Check out corridor crews video on it. They go over the results. While rotobrush 2 is great, it's not as refined and the mask is crawling

This is already built into Resolve 17. It’s called “Magic mask”.

Magic mask is very bad for rotoscoping. It wasn't meant to cut things out like this. It's awful for tracking motion and barely recognizes people. I've tested it a lot because I wanted to make an in depth video on masking. I had to leave it out because any camera shake or camera blur would mess it up and even with the best settings I could find in the manual didn't come even close to runwayml

Its not important but I just hear distorted music, like maybe its corrupt, and zero voice. The distorted music is plenty loud. If you actually hear a voice, that's really strange.
