@@lot2196 it's regional. There are rural areas of the country where they are not selling. Example rural NW and Western NC. People are broke. Iv watched my local dealers sitting on the same inventory since before Christmas. They are all stacked with $60-$90k trucks and suv. I drive around 2 or three times a month just to look and none of them move. I'm sure vehicles in the large metro areas sell just fine because that's where the money is.

This is all a result of over reliance on technology. I'm 69 years old. I was alive when a lot of things were done by hand. In the early days of the personal computer, companies would maintain policies that showed how to do the process by hand. Over the years, these policies were eliminated by short sighted management. Now, we see that technology is not infallible. Now, we begin to understand that technology can be brought down. Now, we are paying the price as a society.

@donaldmickunas8552
@donaldmickunas8552 14 күн бұрын
@@drivewayhero Have you heard of identity theft and how wide spread it is today? I don't know about easier. Any system can be hacked and used for doing evil things. Right now, the majority of car dealerships are back to doing their deals by hand because their software was hacked. They are losing a LOT of money right now. Then there are the growing instances where a hacker will invade a system and encrypt all their data then charge them large sums of money to get their data back. This business model is gaining popularity because companies are paying the purpetrators. Our technology is no where near as secure as we would like to think. Talk to anyone involved in security and they will tell you that it is a constantly moving target. No matter how secure your system is, it isn't absolutely secure. Given the above, I don't see how one can determine with any accuracy which system is less secure. Both have their strengths and weaknesses.

That's like saying that it was better to let someone die instead of operating because it was easier and it wasn't prone to surgery mistakes 😂😂 Papers can be easily misplaced, burn down, they are a hassle to back up, the papers rots, documents can't be edited, there is no tracking of removals/changes etc... So just a very dnmb comment overall
@donaldmickunas8552
@donaldmickunas8552 14 күн бұрын
@@Brondon96 My comment isn't dumb. You are reacting rather than thinking. I said that we were OVER RELIANT on technology. No system is perfect. Technology has many weaknesses too. I'm suggesting a combination of both perhaps. Your response was rather dumb in my opinion due to a lack of thinking. A paper backup saved our butts in the past. Perhaps some form of paper backup would help today. If you want to knee jerk reject the idea, be my guest.

I mean…every one of these videos says dealerships are gonna go under and-here we are. Still. With overpriced cars. I think I’m desensitized to these messages because nothing major has happened. I’ll keep watching though. I enjoy hearing greedy companies are hurting. Feel bad for their employees, though.

People don’t always consider the trickle down effect of such activities. We back up our personal computers monthly to a portable hard drive that fits into our safe deposit box at the bank. It’s a hassle to do monthly but we are secured AND we lock our identities with the credit agencies.

Last car I bought was all done by hand... But I also checked the car out, made the deal, and came back the next day because I needed someone to give me a ride because I wasn't trading in a car. It was nice and relaxing for both the dealer and myself. I had put down a large down payment so they were not worried about me coming back

Behind virtually every story like this is at least one person in IT who was like "Ummm, this is a problem, and it will take money to fix, but not nearly as much as we'll lose" and they put their fingers in their ear. Edit: Also this is the worst time of year for this to happen. I'm from Chicago, and I know I waited until the summer to look at new cars. Its harder to tell the condition of a vehicle in the winter.

I'm at Hertz and we can't title and register new cars in Pa because we use that system. So they registered all new cars to Florida. So pa lost a lot of money on taxes and registration fees. I think we did 400 cars or more. Parts haven't been too much of an issue but sending cars to dealers for big warranty repairs has.

Back in the 70's I worked for a dealership before smartphones and the internet. Myself, I went back to a flip phone, because smartphone batteries are no longer replaceable and they only last 6 months. They glue the phone together and then glue the battery inside the phone. We did just fine without the internet and smartphones for many years,,,,,,,,,

In my opinion, if CDK doesn't explicitly state that something definitely didn't happen, such as saying 'client information wasn't stolen,' it almost certainly means that it did happen. In this case, it's highly likely that client information was indeed stolen. The same logic applies to other sensitive data like dealer information, bank information, etc. If they're not specifically denying these breaches, it's reasonable to assume they probably occurred.
