When you're not sure how to coordinate your pieces in the middlegame, it can be helpful to find a target. Targets are squares or enemy pieces that you want to aim all your resources toward attacking. This idea helped me understand how to make middlegame plans as an intermediate player!

I really like how you said “now that the king is a target, this diagonal also is a target” That’s a very good thought process to develop positional plans

Love this. Not enough chess KZfaq is focused on the middle game which is where all of us beginners need to improve. There are all these openings videos but until 1200 or more games are all decided by mess ups in the middle game anyways.

I observed that the rook's protection of the pawn being blocked by the bishop may not be a big deal due to the Greek gift idea, except, after further analysis black should not take the pawn anyway but first play bishop a3. That's not the point of the video, but I decided to mention it in case anyone was wondering about the same idea.

I'm holding back tears and emotions listening to the first minute of the video: I'm ready to win! Could you go over common squares in certain openings that are good to try to attack? I know the London wants to jump the knight in the middle for white. Also, I'm sure there are times to abandon the regular ideas because the position no longer calls for it. Could you do a video examing this concept in more depth?

Example 4 ignores the tactics around Bxh7+. White really doesn't need to spend time moving the bishop.
@DarkShaman667
@DarkShaman667 11 ай бұрын
But the h7 square is defended twice and there is nothing else there, unless you bring more attackers. White moves the Bishop to d3 to attack a6, since h7+ would just lose the Bishop for a Pawn, while the Pawn on a6 would be free. Alternatively: Rfb1 or Rab1, yes, since the Pawn b6 is also not defended yet. But you end up in a similar position, right?

6:50 is it even possible for black to save the game here? The only thing I can see is pushing the F pawn, but that only delays the inevitable. It's also possible I'm blind and missing something.
