I've learnt that it's better to expect that "the customer is dumb until proven otherwise". Never assume something is obvious or foolproof. Try to make it like that, sure, but be prepared for questions or levels of incompetence you never thought are possible.

There's a condition called pica where people crave inedible items and eat all sorts of shit. This is especially prevalent in pregnant women, it's surprisingly common. Georgia white dirt is a type of clay that can be consumed and is considered the best way to satiate such cravings without eating something that could be potentially dangerous as it (and several other types of clay) are flavorless, melt easily and have nothing that could cause harm (I mean, I guess if you ate a four pound bag all at once it could be a problem but you could say that of anything).
