Just put in an American Standard Cadet toilet last weekend. Some smart engineering to make it super easy and foolproof. Had it installed perfectly in less than 30 minutes, and it flushes great. Amazing toilet for $120.

Awesome video. Trethewey reminds me of my dad with old school plumbing like preferring copper over pex, wax ring instead of neoprene, soldering instead of crimping, things like that.

The test caps and the cartridge with the trim are all good until you're doing a renovation in a house people are living in. The way those test caps are designed creates a direct connection between the hot and cold water supply, so you end up having lukewarm water instead of hot at the rest of the fixtures in the house. Alot of the time when you're roughing in you dont have the trim on hand to have a cartridge to put in the shower valve.

Richard, I agree with you on old school, but some of the changes here seemed really good! However, I don’t like the shower/bath snap on face cover. Might be hard to get off OR loosen up over time for the homeowner! Thanks for all the other changes though Standard American!!

I've installed a toilet made by Delta last week. They've also changed. I didn't need to cut the bolt. I didn't need any tools. I always recommend either Delta or American Standard toilet. It's 21st century. No more ancient technology.

water can still be trapped between the plastic water-tight cover and the chrome cover. Is that considered?

My biggest fear has always been snapping the toilet mounting flange trying to get the toilet flat to the floor and the bowl to the base.

American standard are the worst! I’ve installed many different plumbing items from American standard, they use the cheapest plastic and low grade metal. You’ll repair a four year old faucet.

Whats wrong with an old fashioned outhouse, you don't have any of those modern problems, and you can 'forget' you locked the back door after your wife goes out there in the freezing cold !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
