Watching this unhaul made me go over my tbr and delete the books that I've only added because of the hype or YA that I'm not that interested in lol You really got me there with what you said about how we only have so much time so we should focus on what we really want to read.

I highly recommend you try once upon a broken heart! It's sweet and fun and romantic in the best possible way. It knows a lot of the tropes of the genre and definitely pokes fun at them while also leaning into those tropes quite a bit and it makes for a fun reading experience. But to make my case further, Elle from Elliot Brooks really loved it and you both like fantasy so I think you'll really like it!

Unhauling books seems so cathartic and I love how much it shows how much you’ve grown. One day I’ll be able to let go of what could have been and face what I want now instead. However, I love We Hunt The Flame! The writing has really gorgeous moments and you feel the build up of how high the stakes are. Yes some YA tropes are there, but it’ll immerse you into its world.

Agreed on not really vibing with YA w I will say I’ve the YA I have picked up by BIPOC authors have been pretty good! Legendborn was one of my faves from last year and really looking forward to Bloodmarked later this year but other than that I’ve definitely been focused on more adult books

I'm halfway through this video, which is the first one I read from you, and this is SUCH A REFRESHING BOOK UNHAUL! There are so, so, SO many book unhauls I've watched where the person has like five copies of a book they don't even like, but they're still keeping them because of like, sprayed edges, of something. Which, like, more power to them, I guess, it's their shelves, but it's just really really nice to see someone who's like, you know what, I'm not gonna read this, I don't like it, I'm not holding onto it, end of. So yeah, awesome.

The way the first book you got rid of was immediately one of my favourites lmao 😭😂 but I get it, a lot of these books are books I've only been interested in because they were part of a bookbox ... but if I'm being honest, I wouldn't have picked them out for myself 😅 anyways, purple looks so good on you! 💜

I'm the same with SOME wolves in books but for a very specific reason: the whole alpha wolf -theory was proven to be completely wrong by THE SAME SCIENTIST who proposed the alpha theory to begin with. He has spent his whole life trying to dismantle the alpha theory from common knowledge, but people STILL use it all the time not only to describe wolf behaviour but also human behaviour (people identifying as "alpha males" ooooof). So, when a book uses the alpha theory as fact, I can't get into it knowing the writer didn't even bother to check the basics of wolf behaviour. It's just one of those pet peeves I guess...

So the only one I have read out of all of these is Children of Blood and Bone. Being 32, I'm not into YA anymore, unless it's queer, and unless it's written by BIPOC authors, but I did get this one on the Libby app as an audiobook, and holy shit, Bahni Turpin is a fantastic narrator. If you don't want to keep the book, I highly recommend you give the audiobook a try. I really liked it so much.

I only read YA contemporary if it is queer, but I still enjoy YA fantasy. I think it's because I've been reading both adult and YA fantasy since I was in the "YA" age range lol. It does make me wonder if I should continue to market my books as YA though. Hmmm Aww, I love wolves. They're awesome animals. I love matcha lattes! Have you counted how many books you have (after the unhaul)? Also, please be careful of burnout! If you feel like you're too busy and need to cut somethimg out of your schedule once in awhile, consider it.

It’s sad that you didn’t get into caraval I love that series & sad to see you giving serpent & dove. Idk if this is YA but when you said complicated marriages I think you should check out the golden couple I read it this year & I loved it one of my favorite books this year. Idk how a adult can read middle grade books (not judging whatsoever) but I don’t see the appeal of them tbh I am a adult who reads YA tho.
