I am 72 years old and--believe it or not--this is the first time I've seen someone with Tourette syndrome speaking. It is nothing like what I was led to believe. I'm impressed with your attitude. My son had it, yes I say had, as it essentially left him by his early 20's. The first symptoms started when he was about 6 years old.

@@strange-universe Well, I can't speak from experience but from what I've seen on the matter and even when she comments on her own outbursts in this very video, she seems to know in the split-second before it happens and can sometimes try to stop it but it seems to break through anyway a lot of times. There was the one here where she said, "I really tried not to say that."

I honestly didn't know how to react to this. I wasn't sure if her giggles were part of her tics or a reaction to them. I laughed a little at first then felt kinda bad for doing so. So i subscribed to watch her other videos to familiarize myself to how Ms. Trippy works. She seems a sweet and gentle soul who smiles and laughs her way through her struggles. I wish I had her (your) positive power.

It's generally okay to laugh if the person is also laughing. We laugh at my tics all the time. I always say, if you don't laugh, you have to cry.

Her mom be sitting there encouraging her. When ever she gets down on herself she looks up for reassurance.i get teary eyed watching the amount of ❤️ her mom has for her and how hard she tries to do good. This took alot of effort for both.one of my few subscriptions.

Along with my own mental illness, my heavy ticks get like hers. I'm not technically tourettes, but the ticks can really wear me out, mentally and physically.

@@ant2100 Medications don't help with that. My situation isn't textbook tourette's. That being said, under the right conditions and I can get stress and anxiety under control for a while, the symptoms dissipate. It also helps me to try avoiding too much caffeine and sugar as well as supplements with metabolism boosting ingredients, but that's really hard for me to do. I need those kinds of things keep me going. I also take two meds for ADD that set all of it in motion too. The one, when it starts wearing off, and when I have stopped for a long period of time.

I've only just seen these replies. I don't have tourettes that I know of. I do not make noises, but like some commenters above, I throw my head back and to the side a LOT! It's really energy sapping and very very disheatening that I can't control my own body. The sad thing is, I tend to do it when I'm relaxing and in a completely stress free environment. :(

That was really brave and well done. I am severely dyslexic and have trouble even signing my name or doing simple math. It’s sometimes difficult to speak in order and I get a lot of flack from people that don’t understand. I also an introvert maybe because of this and I think it was very courageous to do this on KZfaq. People like her are beautiful beacons to those of us that find it difficult to be who we really are and embrace it.

One can only imagine how often she feels compelled to apologise, and we see it in the video despite her attempts to disinhibit herself. I wish the general population were less ignorant and more tolerant and forgiving of those suffering from TS (and other disorders which are completely beyond the control of those afflicted). It's simply awful that _anyone_ feels the need to say "sorry" for an illness or disability.

Thank you for sharing this - Sending you nothing nut love and thanks for your courage and bravery for putting this out there. I have known a few people in my day with Tourettes and I always stood up for them and listened to whatever they had to say. Sometime a patient and willing ear is the hardest thing to find, and I miss the days spent with those friends. God Bless You!!!

It really is nothing. They're the same subconscious word associations that all language users have. But with Tourettes its like there's a faulty valve that isn't sealing properly so words and gestures just leak through.

This is the first time I watched any of your videos and I really appreciate you putting yourself out there and laughing off some of your tics. I have some struggles of my own with my ADHD and some "short circuits" in my brain from brain damage because I almost died in a surgery as a child. I try to laugh at myself and make jokes when I have my "moments" and it's refreshing seeing someone doing the same and using that positivity to get through it. Thank you again for sharing.
